The civil war storyline is the most disappointing series of quests I've seen in an RPG, I have no idea how they made fighting a civil war boring.

I dunno, its satisfying taking a fort, but you can do that anyway :/ battle for whiterun was ok, could have been bigger though...
On another note, vampirism is fun!
Except for travelling and fighting in daylight, which doesn't seem a big deal until you realise you can't do it anymore (or not easily, anyway )
But the bloodsucker bonuses are nice...

Yea I completely agree. Id like to add, the only reason to play both sides, is to get the satisfaction that you killed the leaders of both, because they too, are INSANELY FETHING BORING! I mean CHRIST! One is the leader of a rebellion, trying to topple an oppressive Empire. The other is a general that is supposed to crush them like dogs! And yet, they are both so fething dull about it. GAH!!!!!!!!!

couple of questions:
1. Who has finished the imperial storyline and gotten the sword from Tullius?
2. What was the sword, what level were you?
3. Which armours exactly are light armour (including 1 off ones.)

The quest reward for that quest is a leveled sword (meaning it's based off your level when you acquire the quest) and other than that is random.

I tend to play with how my characters look. I HAVE full Daedric armor, but I personally dont care for the look of it, specially the helmet, dear god who designed that fething thing? So I went back to my badass Ebony Armor.

So I grabbed the "more powerful" daedric weapons mod yesterday and my dawnbreaker (exquisite) deals 70 damage plus 35 fire damage and all it's normal effects. For my level 32 paladin with around 50ish onehanded skill this isn't bad at all.
I also realised that I was running "high" graphics settings with the high res texture pack at 60 fps so I gave "ultra" a try and I can run that with 40 fps, the transitions are noticeably rougher but everything looks SO PRETTY

Heresy. Although I'm not sure what the save setup is like on PC. I already have tons of saves on PS3, where I'm sure it is more annoying.

Here goes:
I don't like Skyrim. *Prepares self for a volley of arrows aimed at his knees*
It might be because SWTOR came out soon after I got it, or maybe the fact that my PC is now totally out of commission so despite wanting to play it, I can't. I nevertheless did a few quests, got three characters to level six each and saw enough of the world to form an opinion of sorts. And I just don't love the game like I did Morrowind or Oblivion. I'll try brainstorm my reasons:
-The setting. It's utterly boring. People might highlight the varied environments: 'Fjords! Tundra! Forests! Mountains!' but I find it utterly depressing. I miss the verdant woodlands of Cyrodiil, the rolling green hills... the lowland swamps. Along with its snowy peaks. THAT was variety. With Skyrim I was hoping for green woodlands in the south of an alpine sort, with the inevitable rocklands and snow further up. I guess I sort of imagined Scotland with some tundra thrown in.
-The voices. Oh GOD Schwarzeneggers everywhere, equally annoying Swedish accents... human women who should have been cast as the Khaajits and even the odd crazy Dutch accent. I was hard-pressed to find voices that didn't irk me to my soul!
-Inevitable hybridisation: I like to roleplay. The first thing I did was step out and attempt to make my three characters: Warrior, Assassin and Mage. Yet I find little reason to not hybridise. I understand that it makes the game more 'accessible' and is easier-going for noobs. But running around with a sword in one hand as a mage and being at liberty to level any skills I want? Well, my inner meta gamer can't be silenced and forced to go 'fair enough, I'll just continue to limit myself for my own satisfaction'. I'm not sure I've explained this complaint well, but I don't like how skills aren't 'cut off' for me like they were in Oblivion. Admittedly, a starting level of 25 in a skill and making it contribute toward my level wasn't a TOTAL lock off, but it made my characters go down niches that they just don't have to in Skyrim.
It's a console port with graphics to match: I shan't go on about the interface as that just speaks for itself. But the graphics. Oh LORD the graphics. Admittedly Oblivion had the same problem (view distances that meant that looking across a lake resulted in some blotched hill with a couple of sprite-looking trees on it, I remember getting a massive anti-climax when I left the Imperial City sewers and saw those). But look at anything in 'lush' Skyrim up close and you see a fuzzy mess. When I did the trek from Riverwood to Dragonsreach (I forget the town that it's in) I couldn't help but let out a groan as I stepped over the crests of the rocks to see that flat grassland before me; the buildings in it looking like boring blotched textures and the ground itself utterly flat, barren and characterless. If we get mods for draw distance and detail, I am getting them first. Oblivion was gorgeous when I got a mod that drew all objects like I was standing next to them for a given distance. But I blame the ECKS BAWKSS once more for holding back capable hardware. Guess it's hard to fault Bethesda on this count (well, they could've made it a PC-led project so we actually got the gorgeous graphics from the beginning; but why take a hit to your profits when demand is going to be total the moment a box gets 'Elder Scrolls' stamped on it?)
I have no idea what's up with my PC and I am just too busy at uni to bother myself with it, but when I do fix it I intend to give Skyrim a second chance. But in the meantime, these are my views of it. Hate me if you will. I saw that I can now get an HD texture pack through Steam, that will definitely be a must. Maybe my few month hiatus will result in me coming back to a game that can be modded heavily, if so, then I might fall in love with it. For now though, my 'amateur review' is a resounding 6/10. I want nothing more than to enjoy this like I did Oblivion; I want to be playing it on/off until the next game comes out, mods and new content keeping me persistently entertained. The only thing I can't imagine is rolling many alts; there seems no reason to roll anything more than 'Stormcloak' and 'Imperial' what with Hybridisation: The story you follow will likely be the only difference.
