Which would mean that they'd be taking up space in Utah rather than China... cheaper shipping.

I dont think we've had confirmation but I would assume if youve got little guys and arms coming to you in wave 3 they should ship out to you when they arrive...assuming you dont also have other stuff coming and selected ship complete

I sincerely hope that is the case, ironicsilence... it'd be great to have confirmation of it (hint hint Mark!).

I did not select ship when complete. But the little guys and arms are supposed to be accompanied by a feth load of Valkir, in various incarnations, Black Widows and Command boxes.

So no, they wouldn,t ship out immediately. Rather in 6 months or so, whenever the rest of the issues are sorted out in China.

Hence my offering of money (an appropriate sacrifice to please the plastic gods, I believe) in exchange for shipping of the completed items.

Is there yet a sense of how the voting for the scale of the ladies is going? I personally voted for the slightly smaller scale, just for the visual differentiation, but I could live with same scale too.

I'd prefer the same scale. Not only would they be cross compatible, but they would better reflect the likely outcome of an armed forces with strict enrollment and fitness metrics.

Besides, if one size of male stormtrooper is supposed to represent men from Tom Cruise to Michael Clarke Duncan in height no matter how unrealistic that is, I don't see why the women shouldn't be similarly represented.

Don’t worry, I was just having a little fun with you and the industry…

On a more serious note; it looks like 72%, the overwhelming majority prefer the full size to keep compatibility between current and future releases.

Part of me was really wishing it would not matter and we could tweak on the scale and shoulder width but at $15k per mold I simply cannot promise that the girls would get the support they deserve in the future releases, so it is probably for the best.

It seems the main complaint is the shoulder width, I agree. Unfortunately, the shoulder width is a fixed point that cannot be modified without effecting the kits cross compatibility. With that in mind I want back in and tweaked what I could. I brought the head size down to more closely match the males, pulled the waist in slightly and made the shoulder pads smaller.

Here is a new render of the tweaked female and the original male model, when viewing these it is best to keep in mind that the way the eye perceives a real world object and a flat image is very different. What looks too fat or squat on the screen is likely to look about right when the model is in your hand or on the table. I have made numerous prints and this is always the case. When I approach a model I keep this fact in mind and adjust accordingly.

The adjusted model looks good to me- a nice compromise, preserving cross compatibility but addressing the concerns people had.

Its a really nice little adjustment, just enough to make it more noticeably feminine and distinct from the males without ruining the compatibility or going into cheesecake mode.

As long as there are enough fully-helmeted heads in the kit for each trooper, I think it's just about perfect.

He's Mark, I'm Math.

So, huh, Mark, Is IronicSilence right, or am I right concerning the shipping. If Wave 3 is not complete, it's going to wait in Utah for everything else to be completed?

So because you don't know you can give them the support they deserve in the future, you won't give them the support they deserve right now.

'K, bye.

I guess in your rush to condemnation, you missed that almost 3/4 of the backers who voted prefer the full size. Guess Mark should say "feth all them guys, Alex Holker wants them girls to be smaller, so I'll do what HE wants."

You don't think the adjusted model works, Alex?

Also, as a constructive criticism since it came up above, the more I look at it the more I think the "cod piece" on the female troopers is a little off. I can't tell what the small bulges to either side of it are supposed to be? They're distracting, particularly when next to the male trooper and that stands out as one of the main differences because it's so glaring, even though there are tons of more subtle differences.

Overall, I quite like it, just thought I'd mention that now that I've looked / thought about it a bit...

The adjusted model is a nice compromise I think. maintain compatibility, but with improved proportions where possible - the head was the one that stood out the most to me, so I'm glad that's improved.

Typically, a woman's waist is higher and her hips are lower than they would be on a man of the same height, so the area between the belt and the thigh armor is bigger.

Give the man a cigar! yep...this^^^^^^ In order to provide the proper visual queues, the cut of the leg armor was changed and the crotch area lowered. this also gave the room for a longer larger more heart shaped posterior.

Those are ovary-protectors.

As for Alex... well, he has a very specific criteria of what he wants to see both in terms of modelling, scale, and price - and any deviation from it will result in harsh words. Though I have to say that Alex usually makes me look calm and graciously accepting of delays, drawbacks and imperfections.

Oh, and I voted for cross-compatibility. I don't believe there will be an issue at all once the models are physically produced.

The scale should be borne in mind. I doubt very much the details you point out will be "glaring" when viewed in the scope of the finished miniature.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

The bulges are the bottom of her belly/abs. There are similar belly markings on the male trooper, but the 'abs' are connected upwardly since the belt is lower and the woman's 'abs' are connected downward since her belt is so high. Otherwise it would look like she was hiking her belt up Urkel-style, I suppose.

Agreed, Agamemnon.

Bob, I'm talking about the small slant lozenge-shaped things on either side of the crotch plate. Those can't be abs... just not sure what they are doing or why they're there.

I agree that the male trooper's represent abs, and they work since they're higher. The female's don't work, imo.

It's not a huge deal, but I figure it's now or never to give constructive criticism before they're made!

Simple, they are armored pouches for their feminine care products.

Why do the men have them, too?

Sir Tides, I sympathise very much with your position. Personally, I think the two little belly-hugging lozenge tabs are visually distracting, but since they are already present on the men's armor, they should be on the women's. They look like free-floating armor bubbles that allow space in the hip joint for fabric to bend and bunch when the legs are bent, but it's not entirely clear.

The women's ab armor bulges blending into the cod piece has an unfortunate resemblance to the classic "cattle-skull lady parts" diagram from middle school sex ed, but I doubt it will be very noticeable on a real mini. I'd definitely like to see how they would look with the ab armor linked upward instead of downward so we can determine which design works for us.

But I won't be too put out if this is the final version, either.

The little lozenge things on the female troops, like the male troops, are either ballistic layer protection similar to kevlar, incorporated into their undersuit; or padding incorporated into their undersuit.

At least, that's what I'm calling it.
