Bob, I'm talking about the small slant lozenge-shaped things on either side of the crotch plate. Those can't be abs... just not sure what they are doing or why they're there.

Simple, they are armored pouches for their feminine care products.

Why do the men have them, too?

Armored pouches for condoms, duh.

Sir Tides, I sympathise very much with your position. Personally, I think the two little belly-hugging lozenge tabs are visually distracting, but since they are already present on the men's armor, they should be on the women's. They look like free-floating armor bubbles that allow space in the hip joint for fabric to bend and bunch when the legs are bent, but it's not entirely clear.

The women's ab armor bulges blending into the cod piece has an unfortunate resemblance to the classic "cattle-skull lady parts" diagram from middle school sex ed, but I doubt it will be very noticeable on a real mini. I'd definitely like to see how they would look with the ab armor linked upward instead of downward so we can determine which design works for us.

But I won't be too put out if this is the final version, either.

I think the answer may have less to do with the models as representations, and more to do with making them good painting/modeling units. Those lozenges break up areas that would otherwise be less defined, creating both visual interest and somewhere for paint in the hands of the average modeler to transform.

One of my big peeves is that some of these new generations of digital sculpts can be beautiful as models, but because of the subtlety of their sculpts, the are way outside of my own capability to do justice when painting. Adam Poots addressed this in one of his updates, where he did a test paint of an early version of the Dragon Princess. he didn't have a skilled painter do the test, but he (as someone that is not a great painter) slapped the paint on himself. Edges and recesses are relatively easy for the amateur painter to look pretty decent with a combination of drybrushing and washes.

Of course, it's also true that there is real-world logic to things, since modern armor will frequently mix rigid and non-rigid elements together to provide coverage.

Maybe they are being gentlemen and carrying spare tampons for their girlfriends.

And real women should bring their own protection.

Buzzsaw, so you're saying they're really just drybrushing enhancers?

on the topic of the cod pieces to steal a line from 300...perhaps eisenkern woman need more protection because only eisenkern woman can give birth to eisenkern men?

On another note, can someone refresh my memory on the shipping container that had some extra room in it to fit some dreamforge stuff.....did we ever find out what was mainly in the shipping container? Just wondering if it was a container meant for the tablescape product? As they've hit another delay, that would have a knock on delay to anything hoping to get put into the container as well

I don't know that it was said what was in the container. However, WGF ships a LOT of products out so it could have absolutely nothing to do with any given KS and could simply be a restock of their other lines.

On the topic of the tabs I'm not certain this works out, but could it be for when the trooper is kneeling to prevent a glacing shot from running down the hard plate of the thigh and into the soft undersuit-looking thing? Looking at the shape of the plate versus the thicker female thigh, that seems possible, but I'm not sure it's borne out by the image of the kneeling trooper.

Maybe the tabs are just conversation starters?

They're tiny. You'll barely even notice them on the actual models.

You know what? I don't think a single pair of those tabs have survived my 'sparingly dabbed glue'.

Mark, I'm having trouble figuring out which arms and hands on the accessory sprue allow you to make a left-handed rifleman. I don't see them listed in the directions.

The back of the box has an illustration of the hands.

16 left weapon grip hands 8 will be left and 18 grip hands 9 will be left.

Your problem will be the arms not the hands, The kit was not meant to provide for left handed riflemen so there will be some issues with that.

Any resemblance of this post to written English is purely coincidental.

The command kits accessory box has the left arms though! Makes for some different and interesting gun poses.

So does the accessory set, the problem is that if you want a duplicate position as the right arm weapon poses, with a hand on the trigger and the other supporting the rifle, you need to do some modification with the arm and use putty to get it to work.

I already have all my guys assembled, and am holding the other bits for when I make my BW's and such, as I will order some males to intergrate a co-ed squad or 2.

Did we ever find out if the black widows have enough helmeted heads for each model?

That sucks. If you end up making another accessory-type kit, please consider adding some lefty rifleman arms.

I am waiting on the T1 shots for the heavy troopers so I can have some pretty picture for an update... There is a backlog in milling at the moment. All the heavy Trooper parts and layouts have been completed and we are just waiting on the machine work to get completed, but yeah if we go to much longer it will be a no picture update.

Was it said that 15mm Mortises are going to ship before troopers etc, or did I imagine it? That's all I got from this KS, so would be happy if that were true

A bit of truth and a bit of imagination.

It was said some boxes, which logic would imply were the 15mm Mortis, were shipping from China to the US as there was extra room in a container, but it was not said that those boxes would then be sent to KS backers immediately. I agree that if that did happen (plans fall through all the time with shipping) and they have enough on hand to fulfill backers who only ordered those things (no mention was made of how much space was there) it'd be in everyone's interests to go ahead and ship them. That's a question for WGF, and hopefully one that's been asked, but there's all sorts of variables in there that could derail such an effort.

I'm just waiting on 15mm Mortis and 15mm arms... if they're getting shipped over would love to have them sent out to backers who are only waiting on those.
