Well, since the other thread is 2 months old, I thought I would start a new one. I would like to start off by saying my favorite champion by far is Malazhar, something about the void is just amazing for me, saving up for the new hero though... Well, who is your current favorite champion?


For those of you who do not know, LoL (league of legends) is a free to play game by Riot games in which a player controls a single champion to represent them in an arena, matches are 3v3 or 5v5, with a 5v5 variant vs. A.I. available as well. The player fights off waves of minions for exp and gold, used to spend on abilities and in-game items. The object of the game is to destroy the enemies towers, then their inhibitors, followed by their Nexus, while killing opposing player's champions for massive gold bonuses.

An easier way to explain would also be that its a slightly more easier and straight forward version of DoTA. If they know what DoTA is to being with.

Favorite champions for me at the moment are Sona and Teemo. It's fun to place the mushrooms all over the map, as they're basically just cheaper and better wards; though they can't see stealthed champions. If they get an oracles to see the shrooms, then I'll just dump them in bushes where they'll hit them before they see them when they enter the bush.

Malphite was for awhile but they nerfed his passive shield and now I've been bounceing around trying to find one I like again, I think I've settled on Rammus, but I havn't bought him yet.

They nerfed his passive?! I know they buffed the hell out of his active passive. His passive health shield wasnt too great to begin with...

I really like playing with lux, esp in ADAM games. She can be very good if the player behind her is experienced with her. Having all your skills be skill shots gives her a steep learning curve though.

Thinking of getting brand when he comes out, something about a flaming (NOT IN THE WAY YOU *MAY* BE THINKING) character seems pretty awesome, other than that annoying little annie...

I've only been playing a few days but liking it so far. Fan of Shen as zipping about the map getting team kills and saving my fellow noobs when they wander into turrets makes me feel like a hero. No idea about the intricacies of the game though - Runes, masteries, why my dude has weird black squiggly square graphical glitches under him unless detail set on very low etc.

Been playing for a little while, main champ is probly kass.

Once he has his sights on you, you are not getting away.

Well I rape with Alistar, and so far, I'm the only guy I've seen to do well with him in the lower band. I'm sure from levels 20+ people start understanding what to do with him, and don't just try and steal kills.

You'd think so. But, when you hit level 30 you'll come to the sad realisation that level does not equate to the skill of others.

I actually think when you hit 30 the difficulty curve seems to drop a bit.

Oh. Cool! With Alistar, the skill comes from using your abilities at the right time. I swear to god he's got some of the longest cooldowns, to some of the best abilities in the league. Take Pulverize. Knocks his enemies into the air, before stunning them. Thats a 2.5 second stun, something that is downright terrifying in such a high paced game. However, it's real use comes into effect when you knock them in the air, before following up with a headbutt down your end of the lane, hopefully towards your tower. It does high damage, and in a team fight, completely removes your target from the fight for several seconds. It works even better with exhaust, meaning they won't be going anywhere for a long time. Only problem with said combo is that it ends up with you having to 15 second Cooldowns in the middle of a melee, with only his sub-par self healing spell and ulti to keep you safe. Played well he can be a brilliant initiator, and almost unkillable, but it's a bitch to learn with him in the first place. So demoralizing seeing for a long time your K/D ratio being less than 1.

Yeh the amount of times I've seen an Alistar headbutt an enemy to safety. So glad the mostly end up on the enemy team.

It's probably worth mentioning, but don't waste IP/RP on filling out those rune pages until you get access to the tier 3 stuff. A good rune page will really help out.

Started playing around with rammus last night, god the other team was raging when I would taunt their carry when they had one of our guys at like 50hp.

The Spotlights always say different. If they did one on Alistar, they'd try and make out how OP he is. Alistar, OP. LOL!

I absolutely hate having to fight over Kog'Maw with other players.

Seriously, 90% of the Kog'Maws that I have seen are absolutely garbage. I main him, and I get pissed when someone else picks him and makes us lose because the other team actually has a 5th team member.

My secondary for when that happens is Twisted Fate or Alistar.

This. The spotlights are made during the character's development, so sometimes they end up a little different when they actually release but usually not by much.

I am a competent player. I am also a competitive one that commonly plays ranked. He's great early game at low level harassment against slow opponants. He has no realistic CC, no escape mechanism, bad stats, bad overall damage late game, and his ap ratios are the worst of any ap centric champ in the game. They default to .5 and peak at .65. His ult is literally a slower and less effective version of ryz's ball bounce on four times the cool down.

That said, brand can clean house against players that are not competent. He's in line for a serious buff (and damage scale restructuring) and is a joke among better players.

I like the global ults, Karthas for example has a great global, pantheon, great ult, and even Ashe with her arrow, is a great ult that can hit anywhere on the map. Get rid of those, and it'd suck pretty badly, and remove some pretty awesome dynamics to the game.

Nah global ults are just stupid, and have been since dota.

No need to have great map presence, or really think if its wise to push that lane alone while your team pushes another...
