Ranged weapon is more difficult, but I'd probably go in for a nice pulse rifle plasma technology, but safe!

I have read the first 2 pages and so far everyone loves the big guns... 
now let's be honest here. the OP only said what gun would you want, he never said anything about the tools needed to maintain said gun (although we can still assume we have at least a single crate of ammunition).
So taking that into account, I'd say I'd go with a lasgun equipped with a bayonet. sure, laugh all you want, bitches. but don't come crying to me when your nova cannon stops working because you fried the power cells to ashes rom overheating, while my lasgun is in tip top shape because I can use my reguler tools I use with my other guns to fix the lasgun as well .
as for a melee weapon I'd go with a chainsword backed up by at least a dozen of teeth tracks, as eventually the teeth WILL dull, and might get stuck while cutting through someone's ribcage
also the lasgun may be a laser pointer when used against aliens and compared to said alien tech, but take into account the books too. Lasguns on the tabletop are only at the light power setting. there is also the hotshot setting which will vaporise any human. and remember, there's not exactly a lot of aliens on earth either, is there,  ?

Actually I think Ill have to go with a standard Land Raider, Lascannons, so hypothetically they recharge, I assume they are run on a reactor with an AI managing everything, so I think it would be pretty BA, that and a tank that can take an orbital strike would be really sellable to the military

I was drinking one night, and painting 40k, and I thought it'd be cool to have a chainsaw sword. Then, I thought about it a bit and realized that a chainsaw pretty much IS a chainsaw sword.
So I'd have to go with a plasma pistol, just because.
