I think it's too late for that.

Unlike models with finicky bits sticking out in every direction, at least diorama HQs add model options for regular HQs, so there's a bright side to them. GW showing off their sculpting and casting skills with the former was pure nonsense by comparison.

I thought it was the worst one yet. Chapter Red Shirt is out of supply at their own fortress monastery, yet the orks are infinite in numbers, supply and morale.

That they have keep pausing to wish for the intervention of a mere -twenty- Space Wolves to be their glorious saviors and fix everything is just crap icing on their general incompetence.

This is a weird propaganda piece of 'no, really, orks are actually dangerous, for realzies, not joking (if there are infinity of them)' and 'Space Wolves are so vastly superior to normal marines that normal marines pray for their presence'

I wanna hear more of the Obsidian Jaguars. Sound like a pretty neat Chapter. Shame if this is the last we hear of them.

A mezzo-American chapter (possibly Mayan?) - interesting. I’d like to see paint-ups.

Heh. Their name is essentially Black Panthers.

And this time it's WHAAAAAGH. I can't muster any hype for new GW stuff right now, though. Oh, new Ghazzy, cool, but I haven't even bought nu-Mephiston yet, and tankbustas are still pants in finecast and Nobz kinda-pants in plastic, they probably won't release skarboyz or bigger Nobz to go with him (and Ironjawz Brutes are reaaaally expensive as an alternative...and skarboyz aren't even good).

Quite like the Aztec Marines story - but yeah the Space Wolves are the bestest ever is tiresome.

Interested to see what happens with the Orks though

Don't worry, if orks manage to destroy a chapter's citadel world, it will get retconned so the eldar did it instead and Cawl will just happen to have a few hundred of their brethren in his refrigerator

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

I can hardly think of a more stereo-Aztecy name than "Obsidian Jaguars". If GW had humor, they would have had them be saved by the Crimson Fists.

OMG, don't tell me the *squints to check Warcomm Article again* Aztec Panthers? Black Cats? Ah - Obsidian Jaguars, of course, how could I forget those storied legends that have appeared in that place that one time and fired bolters and killed nasty things of some description to save the Imperium probably for da Emprah.

No doubt they'll make it out. GW won't let such a classic chapter just snuff out like this. Ah the tension. I can hardly take it! I mean we know that Meznoo will obviously make it out, but what of Kaulka? Fan favourite Uetz? Cozam? Tyzok?! Yarrratttttttttttttt!?

Sadly, the story describes them in granite-grey armor. So, unfortunately they’re doomed.

But I would totally jump at a black-and-bone white scheme in Dia de Murtos (Day of the Dead) scheme for a marine chapter, topped with jaguar cloaks and macahuitlz instead of swords.

Look, you guys either say there's too much focus on the Founding Chapters or nobody Chapters take up space. You can't be saying both at the same time.

You can absolutely say both - "there's too much focus on Marines full stop."

It would be nice to have an 'on camera' death of one of these marines as they suffer a crushing defeat for a change, it's not like they're even a popular Chapter. If GW aren't going to do it for the bloody Noir Kitties, there's no fething chance they do it for the main players. Which is a waste.

I’m not saying either.

Marines just got an entire release of books a few months back, it’s not like they need even more. But I wouldn’t mind, say, a half-page blurb of the Obsidian Jaguars and a couple miniature pictures. Maybe a sentence of which chapter rules fit them best. But not much more - certainly not a name generator.

At least they're fairing better than the Obsidian Glavies, who's first appearance really was to be wiped out to a man by Grukk's Red Waaagh! I personally liked the story, it really was only marred by the Space Wolf shilling.

Not a huge fan of Marines myself, but it was nice to see a chapter other than the foundings be featured. Orks seem threatening, I like that it opens and closes with a sort of desperation in the main character's mind.

Not a fan of the SW feature either.

Its an alright story. Hope the next one either comes from the POV of an Ork in the assault, or is at least another Ork story told from a Greenskin perspective.

The story was like a poorly written fan-fic. How many times did I read the word "score"? Why was every numerical represented in 20s?

After the short story there was an article about a change in the Ork attacks, apparently there was a new purpose, savagery and intelligence in them. So why was the short story the same old "Orks throw themselves idiotically at defences while no-name Marines, and even Serfs, dispatch them with ease"? The only strength of these *super-duper, psychically awakened Orks with tactics and everything guys, for reals this time!* is that they have unlimited numbers? Really? Lame.

At least we're getting a new Ghazzy model.

Out of 2,618 words, you read “score” or the variation “scores” a total of four times. Cry about it.

If the truth can destroy it, then it deserves to be destroyed.

I’ll admit, the author wrote them somewhat close together in the story, so perhaps someone overly critical of a free story about super space men fighting monsters might harp about it, but the story seems fine for what I expected.

If there is never again a story on a founding chapter I would love it, but a story that's just a setup for a later founding chapter being almost dead and then saved by the perfect 1rst founding chapter ain't that. At all.
Though the new marine chapter is really nice, I like it!
