I might be wrong on this, but I don't think any of them were killed by the old ones, they just started eating each other. I know the deceiver tricked the outsider into doing this, and the outsider went sort of insane because of all the c'tan that he ate were inside him and still had voices or some such.

I thought the Nightbringer was the one that started that particular trend?
After the Deciever tricked him anyway...

Yeah I think you're right. The nightbringer always was the sort to just eat the other c'tan. The outsider on the other hand seems to regret it so it makes sense he had some interaction with the deceiver.

Although not hugely related can anyone tell me who imprisoned the outsider? I have always thought it was the eldar laughing god (cegorach? i can never remember his proper name) with his harlequins "dancing round". Others say it was just the old ones.

On a more related note I thought ferrus manus was meant to have killed a c'tan (hence his iron hands) or did he just "banish" its essence for a while?

The Outsider was tricked into doing it himself AFAIK by the Deciever...

I always thought the laughing god was another guise of the deceiver and that the outsider was tricked into imprisonment after growing too powerful.

See this is the problem with old fluff, no one knows whats right anymore. Looks like we will have to wait until the new necron 'dex for stuff like this to be resolved.

What do they look like, NB and D are obvious, and I'd think that the Void Dragon was some sort of...dragon but what about the outsider?

Well there aren't any images as far as I am aware of the Void Dragon or the Outsider.

But on the Void Dragon, I think this is a pretty amazing interpretation.
Spoiler:

It was from a Mod on the original Dawn of War that I don't think ever so a proper release, shame really, looks awesome.

As did I but after looking about a bit, the Laughing God was active during the fall of the Eldar whereas the Deceiver was dormant after the War in Heaven and the Enslaver Plague. Also Cegorach resides in the Warp where the Deceiver can't venture.

Since warp gods, such as the eldar gods, are based on belief and emotion wouldn't it be possible that the eldar originally worshiped the deceiver which over timed formed a warp entity in his image that took over the role when the deceiver went into sleep mode?

Eldar never worshiped the outsider, they were made to fight against him and his fellow C'tan, not worship him.

The void dragon was, IIRC a star god large enough to swallow a planet whole, but only had a physical form thanks to a giant dragon body that he got from somewhere, and the emperor destroyed the body and imprisoned the non-physical form in a cave on mars, where his amazing technical knowledge began leaking into the minds of the mechanicum, thus creating lots of wonderful grimdark toys.

However, the next bit is confusing, as the void dragon has no physical form, he filled the cave in which he was imprisoned and so became imprisoned in it, while actually becoming the cave itself. So he is trapped in a cave, but he is now the cave itself that is trapping him, so he's trapped in a cave that is actually his own body that is now a cave thus trapping...

Oh dear I've gone cross-eyed...

He said the Deceiver.

But it is a possibility I suppose. The Old Ones did create the Eldar Gods though as far as I am aware.

On the other hand the Harlequins are the only Eldar who can avoid Slaanesh without taking measures, so could it maybe that the Outsider stops Slaanesh's hold on the Harlequins and in return they keep him safe from the other C'tan/something darker?

This, as you said, is amazing. I always imagined Void Gragon looking slightly more bestial, but oh well.
I think its a shame that the Outsider is out of the Milky Way (probably GW cutting down on fluff! ) but does anyone know how far? with warp travel he might be able to be brought back and I'm thinking of playing Necrons soon...

Just had a look at the VD on the pics, and he's awesome. Down right sick. The only trouble with fielding him is his size. He picked up an Imperator in one Hand! Holy Crap!
You could launch a campain to set him free though, and that would be cool too.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Outsider I would imagine as a floating shadow garbed entirely in a long black cloak. Bit like a Nazgul from LotR. No hands, just a completely mad and incredibly powerful shade.
Just a thought, might he have a relationship with the DE Mandrakes? Decapitator is bonkers too?
