So, if the rumors of Striking Scorpions are true - that will be an odd kill team. All of the kill teams in the box so far have been a bunch of individual specialists. Aspect Warriors of a given shrine, by definition, all focus on a single specialty.
I do want new scorpions, but it sounds like GW might be shuffling some of the fluff to get them into Kill Team.
That is, unless the scorpions are just the new part of the kit, and a few other aspects are included as well. That's basically how the Inquisitorial kill team box is going to be, so maybe that's the new format going forward. If they leave out terrain, they can include extra unit sprues. So maybe scorpions + banshees + dark reapers, or maybe more likely, scorpions + rangers?

Really cool to finally see some inquisitorial representation after they hinted it way back with that geller pox showdown.
In all honesty, I find the henchmen far to balanced and serious. I always wanted my inquisitorial crew balancing on the edge of insanity and weird loaduot so you just have to stop and wonder how they would not be utterly useless in 90% of all situations.
But hey, I really dont mind these cool henchmen, and I already have some really weird guys I built from the bits box over the years, so Im good. (I now remember I also have the old metal Iquisitor and crew they used to sell in a box. Have no idea where they are, but remember they as exelent models).

I do find it weird that the suggestion is Striking Scorpions as opposed to Rangers. It would be far more interesting if they did an Exodite Kill Team with some a little raptor dog thing.
When do the preorders usually go on sale? Is it 10am GMT?

Who's to say, it might be something like 5 Scorps, a few rangers, a farseer and something new. Or there's always room to invent new fluff. Perhaps besides Striking Scorpions they can introduce some new variants? Stitching Scorpions (medics), Sniping Scorpions (Snipers), Shadow Scorpions (stealth) and Shouting Scorpions (communications).

In dream land it would be a new plastic Scorpion kit plus a bunch of exodite specialists similar to how they did the Voidscarred.

They could bend the fluff a little and have some 'real' Scorpions as the team leaders and then ex-Scorpion Guardians that have walked that path before, but now are on another as specialists etc.

Could it be that the Ynnari are getting a dedicated unit release via Kill Team?
Goodwin had been hinting some time back that the Visarch was the "visual language" for a dedicated Ynnari unit.
Someone else commented that the structures looked very Drukhari in nature, but the Drukhari structures in and of themselves are supposed to echo pre-Fall architecture, right? Could it just be that the Ynnari are effectively reoccupying lost territories?

Could also be yet another dual kit build which either builds vanilla scorpions + exarch or you can make most of em specialists by exchanging a few bits.. But dunno. It's still quite early to have solid intel on the teams of S3 launch, so might end up being other than scorpions too I suppose. I mean, wasn't it supposed to be Inq vs scorpions yesterday? And that turned out to be at least 50% false already..

If it truly is Scorpions, it could just be them using the "Veteran Guardsman" Kill Team approach rather than a dedicated Striking Scorpion roster?
The models are DKoK, but that roster can be used by literally any regiment.
An "Aspect Warrior" Kill Team that lets you build the KT as any combination of the "big 3" Howling Banshees, Dire Avengers, and Striking Scorpions wouldn't be too wild to consider.

Single speciality for Scorpions is infiltration and sabotage isn't it? The Exarchs further exemplify more specific aspect of these...um Aspects - but there's the potential for Aspect warriors to practise these other elements before picking on to exemplify should they become stuck on the Path.
Even without too much extra gear that would stand out in 40K, it's not hard to see the whole team taking on the aspect of the Scorpion as a unit with some warriors being more into the creeping infiltration part - the claws that wrap around the target, whilst others either focus on the quiet kill and others on the sting. Some of the other Aspects might work a little better with a single focus, but recon, infiltration and sabotage/assassination does want more of a mixed bag of tools.
Imagine them doing their Eldar Tai-chi, which each one doing different forms but when seen as a group it's one cohesive flow. To master the aspect of the Scorpion, you must be able to perform all the forms, but the Path restricts them and lays out a suggested order based on Saga of Karandras hunting down and confronting Ahra. It could even be the teams thing, getting some bonus actions for activating down through a couple of different Katas as their strat ops.
So an operative that is hard to see or can charge from conceal orders (unless that's the Aspect's thing), you have to tread the path of the Warrior before you can become a Warlock - so this could be the ideal spot for one of these. Pulling shadows around themselves to hide themselves and perform silent kills.
An operative that is tracking the spoor of their enemy and signalling which way to go (perhaps Comms type guy)
Bolas guy for taking out sentries that's just some kit on the belt in 40K.
Another one that is leaping down from vantage points, or gets a bonus with higher ground or when the enemy is already engaged
One that has a zen like focus on hitting the weakest points with their chainsword or mandiblaster and is the anti-armour guy
Operative that is focused on attacking multiple targets with chainsword and mandiblasters as fast as possible
Standard Grenadier/Demoman with plasma and fusion grenades. Perhaps web as well
Tough guy that focuses on the resilience of the Scorpion and has the ignore first hit in CC rule
Redeemed Scorpion from the old shrine that has a few other tricks up their power armoured sleeve.
A pair of operatives that act together
The Exarch
Perhaps an exarch in training/on the cusp of falling to Exarchdom for the secondary leader who also opens up the other Exarch weapon and uses bits from a kit designed for 5 +1 boss option.
But yeah, on the surface they are all shurikan pistol and chainsword operatives with mandiblasters.

This new box set is exactly what I could have hoped for. I've been running an Inq28 campaign using the Kill Team rules for the last couple years. I love that half of the Inquisition kill team can be from various Imperial factions.
The chaos stuff seems intriguing. I love the idea of cultist mutating in the middle of battle!
Between Blackstone Fortress and Kill Team 2019, GW has really been killing it lately. So many great models representing interesting characters who inhabit the more "street level" nooks and crannies of the 40K universe.

Only thing you would need is the Core rulebook and, frankly, if you're going to grab it? Grab the "Kill Team Starter Set" for $99. Mini-Core Book+"Lite" Rules+fluff for the Kommando and Veteran Guardsman KTs, combat gauges(if you want them), barricades, Orky barricades, and the KT token sheet. The gauges, regular barricades, and the KT token sheet all retail separately as a separate item from the Core Book called "Kill Team Essentials"...but they can be skipped if you don't want them.

None of them are the Inquisitor. Apparently this low level conflict isn't big enough for an Inquisitor to show up.
Daemonhost pegs them as Ordo Malleus, IMO. That might be why they avoided it so that this unit could be more cross-Ordo.

I'd highly advise first playing with the free to download lite rules from GW:
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2022/08/16/download-the-core-rules-for-kill-team-and-a-new-intercessor-team-for-free/
Play 2-3 games using some proxy models, before you churn it out towards the plastic crack. If you like it, the starter set is alright to get the tokens and the core rules, but doesn't contain the mission cards and you might end with a lot of models you want to sell. If you don't want to go to that russian site that shall not be named, my tip if you want to go on a low budget:
We are at the tail end of Season 2. Grab the Gallowfall box for your minis that you want and continue on the lite rules + the 9 missions that will be in that box. Then wait till the S3 starter hits. Either get that one yourself and sell the components you don't need or buy just the components you want on ebay or places else. There is always a massive influx around the season starter of people selling components for cheap. Chances are that they will actually change some of the rules, the core rule book or the cards again and you don't want to buy stuff that will be potentially outdated in 3 months. You technically don't need tokens, cards and measuring things, but they do come in handy. You will know your worth for them only after playing the first 3 games or so though.

I disagree about the "you don't need the tokens and the cards". Well sure enough, you dont need D6 either, just take a lead pencil and scribe a number on each of the six edges of the pencil.. I cannot imagine playing KT21 without tokens at least, hard enough to keep track of who has activated what, even with them in use.. And tac Ops cards, I'd probably forget to play em even more than I do now when I've got the cards.. Sure enough, you can DIY both assets yourselves if you want to save a bit o cash, but IMHO both are still very nice to have when playing.
You can use the lite rules and Reddit if you want to dip your toes into KT21 without financial investment. But if you decide you like it, at least the Core Book and the essentials is my recommendation.
Season 2 launch box (Into the Dark) came with everything needed to play, it is very possible that Season 3 launch box will also have everything needed, so one option is to wait it out.. Unless you want the Ashess narrative box (we have no idea how long it will be available)

If you have minis and terrain, Essentials+online resources* should be enough to play KT. They were enough for my group and you can split Essentials with a friend.
*-For example you can generate missions and choose Tac Ops here : https://ktcritops.com/
