Hi,

Ive been a long time lurker here whilst I've been getting back into the hobby after a 6 year break. First thing I went back to were my blood axe orks that I originally painted for a gamesday demo game based around the computer game 'Commandos'.

C and C very welcome please, as well as any good ideas for future conversions?

Nice mob! The hats and uniforms really make these blood axes shine. The bandannas are excellent and hilarious.

Can we get a pic of the rest of the kommandos?

Thanks all,

@The Good Green, I will try to dig out my other minis, as I remember there were two rip offs of each of the characters from 'commandos' (one for each team that competed against each other to complete objectives) so there were divar boys with harpoon guns and grapnel hooks, spanner boys, trappa boys with mantraps, two snipers, doks, heavy weapons and demo boys. Most were speed painted and converted to fit in with the time we had to get the demo game ready and aren't great, but I've just ordered a whole load of bitz from various sites and should be able to churn out a few more now.

@feluca, I dont really like how the ork legs kind of hang over the standard bases, and stole the idea off of my dads historical wargaming miniatures. Works out cheaper than buying them, which is strange when you think about it!

Its by no means a playable army at the moment, as it wasnt originally designed for it and when it was, it was to the third ed codex which allowed a lot more heavy weapons in smaller mobs.

Any ideas for kommandoey kit they could use or have modeled on to them? Im not too bothered about them fitting into an army list at this stage

Found some of the other kommandos. As said earlier, these were rushed out so are pretty inferior to the rest of them painting wise.

My best friend who helped me with the game modeled the doc and sniper boy in the 2nd to last photo. Now there is a plethora of new plastic parts around and no time limit, I will be attempting to remake them. Im hearing rumours of a new plastic warboss to be released this year, and wanted to hold out making him until then if thats the case, can anyone shed any light?

Some really sweet conversions in here, I particularly like to ork 'snagga' rifles . Only suggestions I can think to make are, despite their damn good appearance, to make new trukks and only then because the old 2nd ed trukks are about the same size as 2 current ed warbikes lol

Any chance you can remember what the original model of the kommando nob was?

Nice work! The little indent on the berets is a simple, but effective way to give the impression of some sort of insignia being there without actually having to model something so tiny.

Yeah trukks is one of the first things on my list, got to buy a whole load of plasticard first though!

The nob was originally a 2nd edition ogryn that wasnt getting used.

Nothing better than laziness to streamline a conversions timeline! If I make a nob with a beret I guess there would be enough space to do it properly

I did my Dok almost the same way, with the Choppa bone-saw!

Brlliant work. I have to ask, though- did 2nd or 3rd edition allow Harpoons as actual weapons?

Yup backpack is snikrots, gonna use his body for another nob if I can work out what to do for it, any ideas?

@AnvilDude, nah harpoons could be used in GorkaMorka, and in the rules that me and my mate normally used instead of 40k, guess it could be a counts as rokkit launcher if playing 40k though?

Cheers for the comments all, just waiting for one more delivery till I can get working on the rest of them in earnest

You could use Snikrot's body and make the rest of him bionic with a huge power klaw. Snikrot's a big ork so with enough green stuff and plasticard I think you could pull it off.
