I have just noticed that GW are slipping in an extra release in the week between the 2 Dark Eldar releases.

On the GW staff store planner, as I posted a few weeks ago, they have Dark Eldar Wave 1 on 10th June and Dark Eldar Wave 2 on the 24th June. On the previous version the week in between was blank with nothing scheduled, however having just seen the v2 copy of it, on Friday 17th it now reads New Release 1.

Unfortunately I can't give any solid info on what this might be, although I have my own thoughts, but just thought I'd get it out there to keep you guys in the loop.

Flyers?

1.) I wouldn't call it waves, it will confuse people.
2.) There are enough Dark Eldar units left to fill 3 days of releases. Maybe they sorted their metal chaos earlier than thought and can release the metal blisters as well.

I wouldn't call it waves either, but that's how it's written on the planner, so who am I to argue

Lol well as I said, this is my own thought so before everyone screams how wrong I am and asks me to prove it, just remember that!

I think that the new release is the Summer of Flyers update! Dun! Dun! Daaaaa!

That's because of a few conversations I've had with various people and as I said, that's just my opinion.

If anyone else has any thoughts then please, elaborate!

I thought I saw some Ushabti figures in the Tomb Kings video (where they showed all the new releases). The release of Tomb Kings with no new SC model is indeed a bit odd. I believe MSP has the answer here.

This was pointed out to me a few weeks ago by a member of GW staff when I popped in. He said he suspected (the store staff were being kept in the dark as to specifics) it would be 2 releases, both Dark Eldar.

I saw the same planner yesterday.

When I saw it the yellow release box just had 'June 2' written inside (not june 2nd). The DE releases either side are still there.

Delayed due to the great metal exodus one would suggest.

GWE: Oh right. Have you thought about getting [new product of the month].
C: No, no. He showed me through your website. Those Dark Eldars look ace.
GWE: So you like the Dark Eldar hey?
C: Eldar is it? Oh. Thought it was Eldars.
GWE: We've got the range over here. Have you got a rulebook?
C: Yeah, my brother-in-law bought me one for my Birthday. *picks up DE Codex* Oh sweet! *flips through pages* Talos... what's a Talos?
GWE: Big hovering thing, snippy claws, likes to get up close and crush things.
C: Very cool. Can I get one?
GWE: Not yet. It's not out.
C: When's it out?
GWE: No idea.
C: Oh. Ok, what about... *flips more pages* Whoa! A bomber? Like a real aircraft?

C: Oh... ok. *goes back to reading during the awkward silence* This Beastmaster looks pretty nifty.
GWE: He is out. You can get him.
C: Great! Where... umm... is he in a box?
GWE: No. We don't actually have most of the metal range. We can't get any more in right now either.
C: Why?
GWE: Don't know yet.

Further to the GW 'business plan' musings, there was an interesting article in today's Metro ... this piece leapt out at me:

'Its success is not due to clever marketing or expensive advertising. In fact, Games Workshop has refused to be involved with this – a representative turning away the offer of free publicity in this article saying the company doesn’t do interviews.'

it is a conspiracy to strengthen their stores while driving the LFGS out of the market... simply by denyng those which primarily stock GW as their core range until the banks foreclose on them...

Sounds pretty good... now just to wait for a nutter to come along; believe it; and begin spreading it...

HMBC that is so true/hiliarious!

Its a shame that the hobby gets heckled enough before you add stupid things like this.

I know it's the whole curiosity thing that gets hits on the GW website via items like the Incoming ads but surely it is also good for business by telling your loyal customers 'oh by the way these guys are getting some more models, this guys are getting a new codex next month'...

A product so appealing (to both children and man-children ) and background/narrative so compelling that it can survive all sorts of mismanagement. Frankly, between the amazing minis, incredibly detailed background, and decent/simple rules, GW has a golden egg that can survive the goose being strangled almost to death on a regular basis.

Now if they could actually manage the company better, 40K would be better-known and more lucrative than Star Wars. On the biz side, less stupid secrecy, better support, etc. On the IP side, decent movies and cartoons for a mass-market would make GW rich overnight.

But we all know this stuff... I just want to point out the obvious reason why we're all still here geeking out online and playing in real life, despite all of GW's facepalm-worthy biz decisions.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Uh, sorry- Been writing business proposals for the U.S federal government all day long. I'm pretty much speaking politician full-time right now, even on geeky boards.

Anyways, back on topic it looks like this is a nice slot for the Flyers release. I repeat my earlier challenge to BrassScorpion (in the Flyers rumor thread) and now expand it to any single naysayer who wants to have a personal stake in this:

The bet: Rules for using flyers in 40K by September (against someone betting that they will not appear by September). The prize is one boxed set of up to $35 U.S. value, winner's choice, shipped from an online retailer. Friendly bet, no hurt feelings whichever way it goes. Although the winner -should- get to post an "I TOLD YOU SO!" thread in the appropriate forum here.

If BrassScorpion won't step up, anyone else interested is welcome to wager.

Anyway, as amazing as the Dark Eldar models look, I'm surprisingly not that excited for June. Ever since the beastmaster and friends came out and I learned that I'd have to spend anywhere between $200-300 for a single unit of them (I could sell my entire Tau army and would only be able to buy that one unit), I guess I got a little turned off because I haven't bought a thing since then, and the one succubus blister I picked up sits on the coffee table gathering dust. I really hope the prices for this next batch of stuff are a lot more reasonable.
