Rumours are getting more concrete on what seems to be the next army book after Tomb Kings.
Some quotes from Warseer:
jamesterjlrb wrote:I have information that GW will be pushing Ogres at Games Day. I cannot post the exact nature of how they will be pushing them as i do not know how many people have been told this and therefore whether i will compromise anyone. I can say i do not mean from a sales point of view but more from a "have ogres everywhere" point of view. This would suggest to me that GW are preparing to release Ogres soon after Games Day.
ghost21 wrote:New kits, 1 character based (possibly 2 it's kind of complicated) , rhinox rider / scraplauncher.(...)
They are planned for October as far as I know.(...)
Yhetees will get new models, not sure if they are going to be in the first wave though.
They are going to be more useful now.
Oh slave giants ... will be a mount option in the version I saw as a gnoblar char can use one.
Gut magic is more streamlined. You buy the spells you want.
Hunters get entire packs ... and a bear thing.
A chariot my imagine the carnage.....

Be interesting to see if they keep Ogres relatively cheap for a monster unit (Most monsters are now £27-33 for a box of 3).
Personally, I'd advise any would be ogre players to stock up now.

Ah. Mixed feelings about this, they kinda needed an upgrade, but they're already lethal with stomp and monstous support and all that, hopefully the new book won't make them too OP.
Still, those rhinox riders sound cool

"Buy the spells you want".
Well, I guess it wouldn't do to keep it Loremaster Every-Butcher. What with being able to cast the same spell with rising difficulties and what-not. Still, decent work-around to the issue of "Only one copy of buff / army". Too bad TK Liche Priests couldn't be likewise - would have been nice seeing them that way and would give some (reliable) army customizability with Priest use.
EDIT: Saying it wouldn't do insofar as a Level 2 last edition - on his / her own - would have merely 4 PD. Now? Most probably they'd have 6-8.

I must be having one of those days. On the first read through I read Slave Giants as Slave Girls, and it wasn't til I read more carefully and came to the mount option line did I glance back and realize my mistake.
Glad to see the Ogres getting some love. It may make me pick up fantasy for the first time in 3 editions.

This will get me back into Fantasy if it's true. I've got a huge Ogre army (50+ Ogre Models). I'll even stock up on a few more battle forces (whatever they are called in fantasy).

Both Maelstrom and Waylands have already removed the Ogre Battalion from their listings, so you'd have to get them from GW direct.

Why wouldn't they be getting new models? I don't understand why anybody needs to question "new release = new models" as there's no precedent otherwise. I don't see them redoing the Ogre Bulls or Leadbelchers though, if that's what you're trying to say.

I actually think Ogre core models ( in the batttalion ) will follow same example as Tomb Kings.
Betting on it :3

Several people have mentioned it, but the ogre core models (bulls) are really cheap right now, and the battalion is the best battalion deal in all of fantasy.
So YES, if you're going to start them, it'd be better to get it now... otherwise, you may face what O&G players saw (regular orcs doubling in price, or halving in numbers of models per box... you say tomayta, I say tomahta...)
Even ironguts are relatively cheap at 4 for $40, with the insane amount of extras that come in the box. 6 for $40 for bulls is just fantastic.
Imagine yourself in river troll territory... 3 for $44.50. Now go buy them before that happens that is, if you're going to anyway...

Slave Giant as a mount for a Knoblar? Awesome Sauce!
Plastic Rhinox cavalry are almost guaranteed, price will be about the same as TK monstrous cavalry or even more. We'll just have to see what kind of even bigger monster they can fit into Ogre Kingdoms.

Guessing the Rhinox riders will be on the same scale as the sphynx and spider.
Don't think the chariot will be that big. A normal chariot can fit a single ogre instead of multiple orcs/chaos warriors. It would add some much needed speed to an ogre army.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Ogres have a very good march distance, but they are very lacking in the pursuit category. After ogres smash face an the enemy breaks having a swiftstride unit to catch them would be nice.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do |
