First thing I thought when the new battlezone sets were uploaded was "thats a lot less content for the price" good to see it confirmed. Not impressed Mantic.

I have bought about 15 Battlezone terrain kits from Mantic over the last two years, hording them until I had enough of ruin and industrial bits to build interesting and detailed buildings. They offer everything I wanted but you had to buy lots of different boxes. Combining various Mantic scenery is key to interesting terrain. So I'm quite happy they are offering these packets now. I think the pricing is okay.
Let's be honest these were most likely not quite profitable in the past. Mantic said they didn't sell that well either. Plans for a future fantasy buildings project (Mordheim-like) were cancelled because of this according to Mantic. And with discounts they were dirt cheap.
The quality of plastic is excellent. As good as GW's and Malifaux's.
The industrial kits are all full of bits, I think they are more versatile and come with more interesting bits than the Shadow War terrain series. Only detail-wise the (also younger) SWA terrain is better. But also more repetitive.
Without any cutting and other work even inexperienced modellers can get good, versatile results out of them. One of Mantic's best product lines imo.
Unfortunately there are some problems, too. Some came with way too few connector pieces.
I think this new pricing is fair. Hopefully Mantics BZ line still has a future. I'm happy with the models and still plan to expand on what I have. It was getting hard to buy the kits, being sold out basically everywhere in the last months (with the exception of a few places, like Trolltrader).

Their old pricing was very good. But I think doubling it is very bad. Their old Landing pad was about 35ish. I think 45-50 would have been a good fair price. But 70?
I would have paid 130-145 for their old ruined city. But 200?
Your paying the same price for half the content. It's not great.

From what I understand, it is a consequence of moving all plastics production to the new company (from the Warpath KS delay), which provides much higher quality plastics with less QC issues and faster turnaround. Methinks it's a case of "we're not using a bottom-barrel dollar-store-toy plastic factory anymore so this stuff is a bit more expensive to get produced" This was also the reason the Battezones were oos for a while as remaining stock was sold as the new place received (or even made new) tools.
I'm kind of interested to buy one set and compare to the old DZ KS terrain sets I got.

Even if the per shot price quadrupled, it's still pennies per sprue of an increase. What they're also likely doing is passing on immediately the cost of the molds right away to recoup their investment instead of spreading it out over the life of the molds on top of simply trying to increase their profit margin on top of the added demand due to Necromunda's lack of terrain. Either way, I agree with posters above that the massive size of the increase likely isn't warranted even if their is an increase in quality.

Some news I don't think was passed on here is that Star Saga is on the way to England, with an estimated arrival of November 20, so I think we can expect shipping shortly after.
With the three week closure of the factory that Mantic wasn't told about they're managing to keep themselves on track and only slightly behind schedule, here's to hoping they don't mess up.

I've noticed Mantic has got pre-orders up for Star Saga now.
Have the KS backers got their game yet for this, and if so does anyone know of any reviews?
I love the style of some of the minis, but wanted to check what kind of game it was first - found Dungeon Saga fun but quite lightweight, and stopped playing it after a while (I know they did release expansion packs which padded it out although I didn't ever get round to playing them).
If nothing else I can use these minis for Rogue Stars but it would be nice if there was a game there too !

Star Saga is due into port on the 18th of November so it looks like they'll be shipping both KS and retail at around the same time.
Digital copies of the rule books went out yesterday haven't had time to download it yet.

I noticed there's a retail exclusive resin Sphyr medic if you preorder too.
Then I noticed we're already supposed to be getting a Sphyr medic. Is it just a different pose? I think the KS comes later too...

That dead spy sculpt makes no sense, it's literally a horse and rider in a gallop lying on their side. Doesn't look like either of them actually died, they were encased in carbonite mid-gallop.

Nah. But, you can order from the USA in GBP and enjoy the low conversion rate.

Does anyone know, if I add something to the basket (but am waiting for another deal I might like to then combine and get free shipping) if the item will stay in the basket afterwards?
Beyond the 1 hour window for that item?
+EDIT+ OK answered that one myself - sale item is automatically removed from basket when the hour clicks over, you can't collect offers there.
Hopefully the wasteland scenery set I was after will crop up a 2nd time today!

When the time runs out that's it you can't combine deals from different hours. Most should qualify for the free shipping on their own as they've halved the free shipping threshold.
I noticed earlier that paying in GBP and paying for shipping is cheaper in most cases than paying in Euro and getting free shipping.
EDIT: Ah you want the WD scenery that one is still below the free shipping limit. Good set though if I didn't already have one I'd definitely get it.

Thanks - yes it does look great, was planning to use it for my Fallout terrain setup.
I've since realised there is some pretty cool terrain within the other sections of the site (TT combat etc.) so will just add some accessories next time to push it over £25.

Tunneler pieces are big and chunky.
Fit seems pretty snug, but mine is missing key parts and doubled up on others, so I'm not sure how the final quality is until Mantic send me some replacement parts.

Decide to pick up 2 more Interceptors at €40 for the pair it's a good buy (and I want something to show for Black Friday )

I found them perfect.
Pieces fit together very easily. Few mould lines, and the ones there were (eg tracks) came off so easily.
Parts could be magnetised easily if you wanted to easily.
There were extra parts in the kits - different side panels and enough parts to make different weapons.
I got the 3 tunneller battlegroup that came with 3 tunnellers plus a bonus section. The bonus section is meant as a carriage so does have some parts 'missing'.
Some photos on my blog after I put them together.
