I was inspired by the Ork Mega Dredd. Made the Mechanicum's response after they studied the concept. This is my first scratch build. I wanted to be different but still have its rooted appearance as a Dreadnought, only upgraded to combat heavier threats. If he where a legal model to play he would be apart of my space marines chapter "The Adamantium Dragons." They have very close ties to the Mechanicum of mars, and often field test weapons systems. If any one is wondering why all the ornaments, I figured that to be placed in such a machine would mean that the occupant is the pinnacle of Venerable Dreadnoughts. It's easy to tell I'm a novice in crafting models. He is only base painted, in the coming months I will be painting this guy.

Theres something about raiding planets and then bathing in the slaves misery and torment that really gets me. I love DE, and can now play in 2000point matches with the addition of my latest stuff! Kabal of the Purple Blaze.

I also have 2 squads of IG Shock troopers and a Platoon Comand squad as a start to my IG army For Cadia Check out my blog - http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/380874.page#3047386

He is still in the developmental phase. most of the weapons built in could be given their damage stats, the dual links Plasma blast cannon, and the huge Power fist will require some imagination. I would also have to build an Army to play, doing so bit by bit. Sadly I think he will just be a display piece, not sure any would allow him to be fielded.

A nice concept.

However as with all large scratch builds, you open yourself up to a lot of problems.

Some areas, like the feet, gun, shield, look very undetailed. Other areas that would have been undetailed have fairly random bits added on to try to relieve that fact. Especially the main torso, crux terminatuses and purity seals everywhere.

The weapons seem comedically oversized. That plasma gun looks bigger than the warhound plasma weapon.

Overall not a fan. A very ambitious project for sure, but with large scratch builds like that there is just so much room for problems that it requires a really exceptional modeler to avoid them.

I think it's pretty cool. The weapon systems do seem a bit oversized, but I think it even fits into the 40K universe pretty well.

After all, the Blood Angels have Librarian Dreadnoughts, and I'm pretty sure that the Ultramarine novels have a Techmarine Dreadnought. If you have a techmarine in a dreadnought life support chamber, he might just realize that he could fit his control systems to a larger Imperial war machine. I think that happened in one of the BL novels too, where a regular Techmarine interfaced with a AdMech weapon (basically an ICBM with a machine spirit). Presumably the Mechanicum has some walkers larger than Sentinels and smaller than Warhounds.

What you might to to emphasize that concept (if you like it), is to keep the central sarcophagus area very clearly associated with the parent Chapter, and have the paint job and detailing on the larger walker have more AdMech flair (Mars red paint, AdMech skull/cog symbols).

my only complaint is the lumpyness at the rear of the giant plasma cannon

really minor and can be covered by bits anyway.
