Stunning, I really love the blend of Ancient Greek and 40k on this guy, keep up the good work
The best thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's far too late to stop reading it.

That is beyond stunning IMO, how you and a lot of the other users on here paint that well is beyond me. I hope to be able to paint like that some day haha

Great NMM work, especially on the back leg and jump pack. I always love with great NMM you totally forget for a few seconds that you're looking at NMM and just think you're seeing a reflection of light off of metal...which once your brain thinks about it is ridiculous on a painted model!
So good job. Do you have any tutorials on NMM (or can you recommend any good ones). Its something I'm thinking of dabbling in very soon, so I'd love to get a few bookmarks of good resources built up.
If I have one (incredibly minor) gripe with the model its that from the head-on perspective part of the rocks on the base 'smooshes' over the side and just kind of looks like baking bread without enough yeast that has flopped over the side of its pan.
But really, that's a tiny, tiny thing on an overall very inspired model and paint job!
My only addition would be ther perhaps an azure or turquoise verdigris would do wonders.

Not only that, he did OSL from the sword -over- SETMM.
WOW. Winterdyne, brilliant work.

The shield is scratchbuilt from heat-formed plasticard and greenstuff.
Marauder used to do plain shields (no V) of a very similar size and shape. I would have used one of those for the basis if I could have found one, but I think I have none left.

Correct me if I am wrong Winterdyne, but those are in fact true metallics, painted in a NMM style right? Perhaps with a Gloss coat to enhance the effect?
If so, I would love to know the recipes you used for the Gold steps!
Great work, the piece really makes an impression! I almost feel like it needs a huge and elaborate themed plynth base, a 30mm slotta just doesn't do your work justice in this case, no matter how nicely executed!
Holy mother of the Emperor. This is amazing. That shield is beyond cool! Much like Yak, I would enjoy seeing you do a tutorial on non metallic metallic painting. I've had a hard time finding an understandable tutorial on the topic. (I'm kind of a short-bus painter, myself). The dynamic pose is nice, and facial hair is a nice departure for a non-scruffy Marine. Is the Sanguinary Phalanx your own Chapter?
@MajorTom:
Yes, true metallics in SENMM style (so it's SETMM), with a gloss coat afterward.
The progression is:
Scorched Brown
VMC Bronze
Devlan Mud wash (good n heavy)
Black line horizon, blend down to VMC Leather Brown.
From there blend down through VMC Bronze, VMC Old Gold to a mix of Old Gold and VMC Silver.
Repeat for the sky starting from bronze. Highlight specular (main lightsource) at the same time.
Extreme highlights with VMC Silver.
Blending the OSL into the appropriate stages is very tricky - it's hard to maintain the shine of the metals if you get overheavy with a glaze or blend stroke.
@Jimsolo:
Not my chapter. The insignia and general concept (Dante with a sword, Spartan / Greek theme) was provided by the client. I just ran with it. He's pretty happy so I guess I made what he was thinking of. :-)
Testament to the job you did that most people can't tell. I think a turntable video would be very interesting for this model in order to fully highlight the way it would interact with light while moving...
Frankly, I am tempted to commision you to do a similar piece when I convert a 'normal' Dante as opposed to the Terminator version I have, just so I can get it back and study it up close.
Btw, the fact you also didnt cave to temptation and kept everything pure gold is another example of how well this works. Gold can be very difficult to bring enough depth to for most people I have noticed, your work here is a perfect proof that gold can indeed be nurtured and nuanced with a little patience into something that has as much depth as non-metallic colors.
I actually can't get my head round how spectacularly good this is. I'm left literally shaking my head and feeling very small and inadequate. Probably the best thing I have seen on dakka in the last year. Well played, sir.
