I voted for a few things, but under "Other", I put futuristic Ashigaru/Samurai for Death Fields.

Haven't seen much of those other than a few STLs for 3d printers (and I don't think I could find them again).

Most of the comments I've seen in the WGA blog validate your bet. I am not, but that is a minority opinion.

@Arcanis161: https://puppetswar.eu/ has sci-fi samurai bits, a decent amount. Sci-fi ashigaru, not that many.

I hope the sizes mesh well with the Deathfields stuff (since it's not part of the official range it may not be perfect)

They look great but i really wish the torsos were a single piece though, maybe they split them up for casting purposes but there's only 2 real body variations and they take up too much space on the sprue. If they were single casts they could move one of the rifle arms into the leftover space and easily fit an extra torso and leg set onto the sprue.

Its very interesting too see Wargames Atlantic working with Reptilian Overlords, hopefully they're gonna keep going in the future because I'd love to see Wargames Atlantic turn their multi-part Mercenaries and Militia stuff into a plastic kit (or two.) in proper heroic scale.

Yeah, they're limited on the Ashigaru. I was hoping for stuff in the scale of their "Troopers" not the scale of their not Marines.

Also, what is with them and always needing a creepy smile on their faces?

Yeah, but they're not bug-like aliens in the veins of Starship Troopers which I presume this person is refering to
That's right. Space ANTS, not space spiders, with distinct caste differences, thus the different arms. Warriors have fine manipulators and enough intelligence to use weapons and tactics. Worker are just labor and at best have low human intelligence. Primary arms are strong, secondary would have simple manipulators, enough to pull levers or set the fulcrum for a lever.

I'd assume a few more people would like space ants, as I've seen others ask for Starship Troopers type bugs in the WGA blog.

I would like something more like Heinlein describes in the original book rather than what we saw in the parody film.

Cool sprue, but weird that a quarter of the dudes would go open shirt when the rest have full carapace.

Well to my mind you get 3 infantry troopers and a scout per sprue. So per 2-4 sprues you get a section of heavy infantry and a scout/sniper recon team to direct them. 4 sprues would give you 12 heavy infantry (2 fireteams of 6) and 4 scouts, perhaps 2 marksmen and 2 guys with that suppressor on their regular rifles. That's how I'd interpret the kit in any case.

My unsolicited input...

They are really leaning into the not~IG thing with all 5 IG special weapons on the sprue. Which is fine, I like me some not~IG and Space Nam is an awesome theme.

With just 4 bodies there are way too many similar heads (20 or so). If they're doing this many heads I'd like to see more variety than the haircuts. Cyber heads, pot helmets, enough caps for a squad etc. In fact I really want 4 helmet heads on this. Being able to divvy up squads by headgear (helmet, cap, barrette, bare head) would be great.

A rifle with no arms would nice (suitable for putting on the back etc), so would a radio arm or a pointing one. Even if they were just hands and took the space of the ammo pouches or a grenade. Also can we lose a pouch for a medium sized radio?

Totally agree there seems no reason for the torsos to be 2 parts, I don't see any details or undercuts that can't work with 1 part torsos.

Overall... I love the Guard but have way too many so I'm both the perfect audience and also unlikely to buy this... That being said it makes me happy to know this exists.

My guess is the parting is down to whoever they've had do the sculpting,

i'd agree the torsos seem an odd choice (unless the backs offer different options then mixing and matching may make sense)

The two part torsos are to create a ball joint with the hips. If that was flat, the torso would be a single part.
IMO - skip the ball joint and create extra space on the sprue for a radio and some leader parts. I have a boatload of Cadians and Catachans and never missed swivel hip action.

I love the idea of Death Fields (aliens kidnap human warriors throughout history and give them laser guns, so there's a reason for folks to be wearing 19th century uniforms or whatever), but the sculpts I've seen all look awkward. Like they haven't quite figured out how GW's chonk aesthetic works yet. Their historicals look better IMHO.

Anyway here's what I'm looking forward to:

Boxers (19th C Chinese rioting civilians!)
Bulldogs (Space Brits, the WWI colors look better than the Red Shirts)
SAS Commandos (Plastic moderns!)
Russo-Japanese War/WW1/Civil War Russians (Peak caps and brass buttons!)
Early 20th Century Japanese (Peak caps, brass buttons and Katanas!)
Napoleonic Camp Followers (18th C civilians!)
India Mutiny Sepoys (19th C Indian army!)
Landsknecht Ogres (because!)
Ooh Rah (Space Americans!)
Modern "Operators" (Plastic Moderns!)

Ah, so that's the undercut, the ball joint. I wonder if they could put the ball on the torso and a shallow pit on the legs.

Or y'know just make one part bodies. I've built both and come to like one part bodies better, especially when you're dealing with uniforms which by their nature are, y'know, the same. You can't make a good running body because the torso never looks quite right.

and raptors had a separate entry on the fantasy list so i'd guess they'll make saddle free 'wild' versions

then have Grognards with saddles to drop on them

(unless they go feathered in one version and lizard in the other..... personally i hope the kit will offer both options on the same sprue)

I have never liked spiders, poisonous or otherwise; a common house spider in my bed can give me the creeps. Tarantulas are simply unthinkable, and I can’t eat lobster, crab, or anything of that sort. When I got my first sight of a Bug, my mind jumped right out of my skull and started to yammer.
Their personal weapons aren’t as heavy as ours but they are lethal just the same—they’ve got a beam
that will penetrate armor and slice flesh like cutting a hard-boiled egg...

Raptor swould be interesting. I don'tthink i like the idea of glued on feathers, soley becausethey will likely look like that; a lizard with feathers glued to it. Whilst i do like "pop" raptors, mainly out of nostelgia for JP the pedantic side of me does say that they are literally the sister group of birds that decided to stop all that gliding in the treetops nonsense and came down, modified their climbing claws to hunt with like real dinosaurs and there is no getting around that.
Putting my pedantic side away, we'll say their evolutionarily different in this universe i just want them to get the arms right. Actually make them able to be used for grasping or slashing. Clapping hands not palms down.

The Ooh Rah are a relatively new team to the Death Fields Circuit having only been established a little over a century ago. Comprised of members of the 33rd Marine Expeditionary Unit, the team was abducted during a colonial uprising on New Florida. An upcoming star on the circuit, the Ooh Rah bring the highly-trained and multi-disciplinary approach honed into them as America's force-in-readiness across her expanding interstellar empire (still thousands of light years from true galactic civilization) They are a team to watch.
As we prepare this new faction for Death Fields, we have outfitted them with standard rifles (including underslung grenade launcher), pistols, shotguns, and a squad support weapon. What other weapon types would you like us to try to include in the set?
Please note only one head type is shown here. There are several others.

Sam. Uncle Sam. Uncle Tom has an entirely different connotation. Unless you were specifically trying to be very insulting.

As a Yank myself, I agree that the set could do with some additional Yank flavor elements. Perhaps we will see that with the other heads.

And there is nothing “Flanderized” in calling them Ooh-ra. They are Marines, Ooh-ra is the common US Marine saying on par with the US Army saying of Hoo-ah. They could have as easily called them Jarheads or Leathernecks.

These seem more of a colonial marine or Mobile Infantry set than an "American set". So there is still room for a more Murica!! set in the future. Though as an American, I am not sure what direction I would want to see for that. US space cavalry, Space dough boys, Space minute men? None really seem as good as other countries Iconic troops do for that kind of thing. I guess Cowboys seem more Iconic American... But this set I think captures the look its supposed to pretty much spot on.

For the Colonial marine/ Mobile infantry set, my only wish list item would be some female heads. The torso armor is bulky enough that it could have a female in there... Just the heads would be all that stops it. We could use the Female cannon fodder heads, but I would want all the helmets in the squad to be the same to unify the appearance. And having just the ladies not wearing helmets would look off too.
