I don't know about you guys, but I watch Top Gear all the time.
It has to be one of my favorite shows ever.
I just wanted to see how many people watch the show and if you do what was your favorite episode?
My favorite episode was when they featured the ariel atom.
The UK version is much more "natural". Still as scripted as hell, but it is far less blatant than the US and other versions (I think they have an Australian version, and I am sure the format has been sold to other nations as well).

True, but if I remember right most people consider the UK version to have better humor as well.
The specials and the challenges are what I watch it for, the rest is a bit of guff to me- its on six times a day here...it gets old real quick. Jeremy Clarkson can be annoying as hell at times-and not just because he's an upper class, sectarian bigot that just loves causing controversy ¬¬-, and the car reviews tend to come off as all the same to me now, but it fills up the day I guess. It just bugs me just how much of the BBC budget that they spend acting like idiots-"see that million pound armoured car there, well we're going to blow it up for now reason other than to prove a stupid point, oh but first we'll be blowing up this sportscar".
Love Top Gear. Been watching it fairly religiously since season..10 or 12, a couple years back, and immediately went and found all of the earlier stuff to watch. It's gotten a hell of a lot better since the early seasons, but I think it peaked around 12 or so, and the presenters just seem to be acting as caricatures of themselves at this point (I can't believe that a lot of the stuff that happens during their shenanigans isn't scripted, especially during a lot of the specials). But it still continues to be fun, so I guess it's not all bad.
The specials are the best, but the two I tend to introduce new people (Americans, at least) to the show are two back to back episodes from...season 8 I think it was. The road trip through Florida/Alabama/Louisiana, and the one where Hammond and May built a space shuttle out of a Reliant Robin. Both were pretty amazing, but there have been a couple since then that were about as good. The one where they raced the Jag/Bike/Steam engine comes to mind, but I'm sure there've been a couple others.
I do watch the American one, but not nearly as religiously. The presenters are still working into their places, I think, and the humor can be a bit forced at times, but I think they deserve a chance to prove themselves. Hell, British Top Gear didn't really get consistently good until season 3-5, I think, and they even ended up replacing one of their presenters.
Yeah, I was vaguely aware of the earlier series, and it did just sound like a bit of a boring technical car show, and was both before my time and on the wrong side of the Atlantic for me to ever be aware of it before I started watching the newer version. And the new one IS Top Gear to me, and I suspect many others.
That Peel P50 clip was certainly an amazing moment in the show, to be sure. One of my favorites, although I can't for the life of me remember anything from the rest of the episode.
One thing I've been liking a lot more recently is the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment. That's probably more because they're getting a lot more people who I know of and care about though.
My favorite episode is where they tried, and failed, to kill a Toyota Hilux pickup truck.

My history teacher was a boarding master at the school that Jeremy Clarkson attended.
apparently he was a right dick.
he wouldn't open doors, he would kick them till the locks broke.
Apparently, he was expelled for flipping off a visiting governor whilst returning to the school at 1am (he'd been at the pub), and won a BMW in a competition a week later.
