Personally I think the scourged look pretty cool. Too tzeentchy for my liking though, more of a nurgle fan, hence the cleaved are the actual colours i painted my DG

All space marines tend to look the same to me, which is why i favor the space wolves and thousand sons. At least theyve got more charachter than the others.

Dark Angels and Salamanders are quite easy to paint (dark green. I mean, come on.) and look nice. Space Wolves are a bit harder to pull off but look pretty awesome. I've yet to see an even 50%+ painted Space Wolf army, though.

I have. A couple, actually. While they look good, by and large the 'character' the models possess is not cohesive, and it makes the army as a whole seem too busy, visually speaking. Taken squad by squad, they are gorgeous. When viewed as a whole they tend to be a bit disjointed, but if you like that sort of thing it would only add to the effect.

I prefer the uniform look of most loyalist Chapters. The individual characterization should be there, but not overtly so. I like my armies like a Bev Doolittle painting. The overall effect is cohesive and self-evident, but there are all kinds of details there that require you to actually look for them.

That's why I chose to paint Imperial Fists, the colour schemes set them apart from the humdrum Codex Chapters.

Codex Marines = Imperial Fists

Non Codex = Dark Angels (hands down)

Chaos Marines = World Eaters and Iron Warriors (black and yellow black and yellow black and yellow... stripes)

Imperial Fist scouts should be able to trade Infiltrate for Fearless. Bright ass yellow is not conducive to sneaking.
