Exactly. You've got the only valid reason for not buying it I've seen so far - I can't afford it/it is too expensive for what I want to get out of it. And that's fine.

It's the people saying "It's not good for regular 40K" that are really annoying me, because this box wasn't meant for regular 40K. Lambasting a sparrow because it isn't a dove is a pretty stupid thing to do.

Seriously though, can somebody tell a Space Hulk ignoramous what is so great about it? It seems very popular, but I have no idea how it works or plays. Or should I just google it?

It was a good game to play. Fun, with high replay value. Past the basic missions you could just arrange the tiles and make your own. It was a very good, very fun, and easy to play boardgame.

Sometimes someone hits it just right with a game. Space Hulk was one of those.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

I've had great fun with Space Hulk, both as a game that you can play with people in your group, as playing both sides is challenging and rewarding - you have to think about what you're doing for a lot of the missions. The atmosphere is great, stories develop out of it (eg. friend had to shut a door to stop my Genestelaers from overrunning his position, so one of his Terminators backed himself up to the door, shut it behind him, essentially sacrificing himself for the rest of the squad, a squad who went onto complete the objective.

I can imagine the dialogue between a Terminator and the Sergeant.

"Brother-Sergeant, where is Brother-Zacharius?"
"He's not coming."

*cut to Brother-Zarchairus, his back to the door, his Stormbolter spitting death as his ammo counter slowly runs down to zero*

And it's also as a game for the younger crowd - highly accessible and not 'deep' in the sense that you don't need an army like you do with 40K. We had family friends over from England staying over for a while, and they had two children - ages 12 and 8 - and when I was babysitting for them we played Space Hulk the entire time.

Easy to learn, and great fun to play.

This game looks terrible...The models don't move or talk or anything...The board is just cardboard, OMG that suxx...The rumours promised me it was going to be plastic with LED's and a talking timer...GOD why is GW so evil-stupid-dumb-head-face...

Seriously though, I guess I couls pay double for the same game with WAy older models thats used

http://cgi.ebay.com/1st-Ed-SPACE-HULK-GAME-COMPLETE-100-RARE-BONUS-XTRAS_W0QQitemZ140340322031QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item20acef5eef&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14#ht_4159wt_1165

I think this is pretty awesome looking and I didn't believe the rumours about plastic corridors, I would like that but never fully believed that.

I think its funny that people think rumours=GW official announcements, Because clearly they don't.

I pre-ordered mine and am eagerly awaiting it to arrive in just a couple of weeks.

It looks like a really nice set, but I would be buying it to play Space Hulk. I might change the bases on the Terminators to make them 40k compatible (if they would still work on the board) but I would be using them primarily for Space Hulk.

Unfortunately, I probably won't have the money any time in the near future, and since GW are jerks and made it a limited edition release, I probably won't be buying this. Once again, GW receives zero dollars from me.

Eh, probably. I just don't particularly like the idea of going into debt for a luxury item (however cool it may be). The economy is our shepherd! We shall not want.

Maybe one of my friends will buy it and I can just play it with them.

Or if I get extra lucky, GW will release a non-limited edition or something. If I get extra (x2) lucky I'll win the lottery, and and then buy one. The problem with that plan is, you have to play to win....

I am waiting to see the markup take place on EBAY.

How much are people going to get for them? I see at least one selling for around 200$ .

Out of curiosity, where was most of the kit manufactured? Are they using the U.K. or China on this one?

I was taking a closer look at the SH section on GW and I am liking some of the models. If I were playing SM or... no, sorry GW but no Nids for me . The commander terminator is a rather nice sculpt, but on of the termies is so blingy he blind me... not very good at all, it is like the guy got dressed up by his mom or something .

I see nothing particularly special about the genestealers besides the poses, which I suppose is a plus in some circumstances. Genestealers are plastic right? I think they are...

At the GW store they claim they are to scale, and someone posted earlier on in this thread that he had seen a size comparison picture that shows they are as well (but there was no picture).

When do the stores get their demo copy? As soon as they do we'll know for sure.

You must mean the one with the flamer. They did get a bit overzealous with all the ornaments on that one.

It would have been really cool to include all those ornaments separately. That would have worked out fantastically I am sure.

Personally I am not a fan of some of the more blingy sculpts, terrain included. I can see how some would want that, but in the grand scheme only metal models should have this stuff permanently attached to the model themselves.

I could be entirely mistaken but from the looks of it, all of those seals and parchments (oh, man... the parchments...) are attached to the plastic mini directly. You could take them off... I guess; doing this well would be a lot of work for such a simple model.

The flamer looks quite strange to me, the hand looks like it lacks quite a bit of definition. The paint-job on this looks a bit lazy overall (for a paid professional), but the blending does look quite nice.

This model on the other hand I am really liking quite a bit. It does a great job of capturing the action in that frame.

Man, I would consider buying that mini by itself off of EBAY if I got a chance. I love this thing, very impressive.

I am still wondering why the plastic has a color code to it, this may have already been answered in some form though. It makes me think about the longevity of these plastics. Colored plastics brings up images of brittle cups and the like, while gray plastics seems to have a lot more strength overall.

I think the reason is that since it's a board game they made the two sides different colors so it's better to look at for people who don't want to paint the pieces.

Does that reflect on the integrity of the plastics though? I would like to get that commander mini, but I am not a huge fan of using colored plastic. Given GW's experience in plastics I am sure they figured out the best way to do this, and I am no expert to be sure. I would still expect a little loss of integrity perhaps on paranoia alone .

I suppose it does make complete sense from a marketing stand-point, but I am not sure how that reflects on the actual minis themselves. TBH I do not like colored plastic, but that has little to do with anything besides liking the color gray.

This whole release sparks my brain up quite a bit actually. I am wondering if GW is testing the water for their next plans. Perhaps they are taking advantage of their customers (for this product specifically) a bit, but they could be doing active PR testing on this, and it would not surprise me if they have been for quite a while. At some point the prices will have to stabilize, and GW is going to have to brace for that shock. Hording the markets money in an efficient way is not an entirely bad thing, especially if they manage to transfer production to China effectively.

Very interesting... indeed.

Bandai make Gundam kits in up to eight colours of plastic with up to three colours mixed on one sprue.

That would be a brilliant way for GW to release SMs that don't need painting not to look totally crappy, without doing pre-painted figures.

Lets also not forget that those kits are of a pretty good quality and they can move them out at a fraction of what GW charges. I had cheesy snap fit Tallgeese and Wing 0, and quite honestly I would put them up in detail against crisis suit, and they cost only a quarter of the price money wise.
