The inside of my storm raven(s) is painted military grey. The color most commonly is seen on naval vessels. I wanted to go for more specific details on the control panels and less overall decorated space. The inside looks more like you see in modern naval ships. Since the space looks too new and clean I wanted to add some wash(s) to it to give it more depth and used look.

Blue would look more metalic, black would look oily. I was hoping to reapply others tried and true methods.

Green Might give it a slightly worn look.

I didn't get nearly as much done as I would have liked this weekend, BUT I did finish up my razorback and fiddled with the land raider, more importantly I started on my terminators. Out of all of the pictures I took, this was the only one that came out remotely worth posting, I do apologize, but he is coming along nicely. I've got four of them oranged, which seems to be a big mental hurdle for me, the guy above also has stripes and eyes. I only have to do his weapons and base. I am a bit unsure on how I should do the hammer head. I don't think I should paint the hammer head blue, but at the same time I am not sure how gray would turn out. Thoughts?

You already have blue with the Purity seal and It looks fine. Youcould try a green version. I've always thought about going with red on my chapter.
My 2 cents.

Here is some update on my Lamenters SR. I not happy with the paint coverage. I need to airbrush or get better at prepping the model. Learned alot about what to do or not do on this one.

You should wet blend the hammer using MNN techniques. There are some really good instructional videos out there that talk about how to do it that are really startling. Since it's a very limited surface, it might be worth your effort (and the instructional vid I'm thinking of was of the technique ON a hammer of that sort).

He looks great Ice, wish I were having as much success...

Thanks, the picture looks better than they are. ( how oftern do you get to say that?) The checks do get easier once you get used to doing them. The wings were done with a ruler, but the leg mounts are free hand ( first with a pencil ).

If you do a SR. really examine what part goes where. It is easy to paint over places that you will need to glue something else to. This assumes that you are building it in pieces. like me ( for which somethihngs you will have to do - Interior or Cockpit ). Since I'm running out of time I need to use this one. However I think I can do better so I may find other uses for this one when it's over.

SL.

I don't know if it's the same for the Storm Raven, but I've decided that pods should be painted first, then assembled. It took me a whole (late) night just to mask off the yellow sections of the veins on one pod. It would be one heck-of-a lot easier and faster if I could paint each major section without worrying about over-spray onto everything else.

I think the word you meant to use was An*l.
Coming from the man who painted super cool camo on his Marines and dreads. but after seeing my original chapter LR you can't be suprised.

Thanks. I can't wait to be able to Airbrush.

The prospect of handling the whole model to detail it is unrealistic. I tried to do sections. Where I ran into trouble was I didn't spend enough time examining and masking off the non painted areas. I had to do alot of scrapping paint off some sections in order to get the glue to stick. Additionally my main paint coverage was not as clean as I hoped ( rushed ) I might do the exterior differently once I'm proficent ( sound of laughing in the distance ) at using the airbrush.

See your work with the Air brush give me hope!

No, I think with all those checkerboard patterns... "mental" was the correct choice of words.

It'll take some getting used to when you get your brush... find something you can practice on, get in primed and ready. Ad get some decent airbrush paints! Have you lady stop by the university art supply store, I'm sure they have some kind of acrylic made for airbrushes that you can practice with.

If all else fails, when you come down here for the tournament the FLGS has a good supply of Vallejo air paints... that will give you something to work with until you get your custom mixing straightened out.

So where did you find this video that you speak of? What does MNN stand for again?

Let me see what I can find on the tubes... I'm thinking of one in particular.

Here are my first attempts at the NMM technique. I really like the finished product and I'm sure it will look fantastic once I figure out how to blend it better. I've only got three more surfaces to paint on that hammer.

You can also see my first attempts at painting Sons of Medusa green. Turned out well but there are a lot of layers in there, I can see why gray_death sprays that green.

23 days left!

So far my day has been terrible and I feel like a squigoth sat on my face. In order to make myself feel some what better I decided to take my mind off life and paint more minis! As you can see I've made some progress with a couple more guys.

OK Ice, you're the official clock for the team. You post reminders at major milestones as we pass them so the rest of us can stay on track.

My schedule:
- finish pods tis week
- 10 tac marines next week
- MoTF the week after that
- then a few days for odds & ends

Then I think I'll fish for about 2 months straight... something, ANYTHING besides painting... Maybe I'll take up golf.

Absolutely beautiful Ice!
And here I had thought I was the only person who made orange a main color of his marines! How do you paint it again?

They look great, especially with the tiger stripes. I really do like how you kept the stripes only to the Termi;s shoulderpad. Really good visual balance imo.

The tank with the stripes, I dunno how I quite feel, though the attempt is certainly admirable!

Keep it up! Youre almost there!

oh and Gits- Youre never gettin away from painting. Youre stuck with us for life

I love those termies. The contrast of the bases with the minis is what makes it for me.

The hammer looks great so you should be really proud.

Hey SL, you have your quote ending in the wrong place... move it to just behind my "odds & ends" statement.

Love your work, just packed up your paints & will have them on their way. Man that's a pretty looking batch of figures.

So I skimmed through this thread while writing a paper last night. Appreciated the distraction greatly. : ) I like you work Ice, I was looking at some of it earlier... on the great marine swap I think? Good stuff, I'll definitely be keeping tabs on this thread.
