Big ups to Baiyuan, his advice to leave the parts in the sun hardened them nicely, making everything much easier to work with! So Baiyuan!

It was pretty fun to rebuild, and will be based on that battlescape. There was some fiddly replacement of some warped hydraulics, but otherwise its cool.

Heres where she stands ready to be prime, everything left off will be painted separately. See, i do learn from my mistakes!!

Its funny how slowed a warhound looks without armour or weapons!!

Cheers for looking,

Vitruvian

Ooooh... very nice! Looking forward to more pics... I hope to get one of these in the future... the far future...

Sweet Jesus!! That looks awesome! Where'd you get the base from? Regardless, it looks fantastic walking through that.. *daydreams about pod-based battletech game from the 90s...*

Can't wait to see the finished product!

In other news, almost got your guy together. Looking into the proper method to get your guy to you in one piece... very soon!

@solstice: Yeah unfortunately that aint gonna happen :( I ordered some paints 1st class from wayland on sunday night and they havent been dispatched yet :(

@Regnak: Cheers buddy, one can dream, eh!

@Remi: The base is actually the GW Battlescape, the craters are a great distance apart for the footfall of a warhound

Speaking of which, got the metals done (including on the weapons and stuff not pictured). Pretty much just the armour to ab and shes done (bar crew, script/liturgy/icons and osl):

Thats cool mate, i finished this in a couple of hours when i was bored:

Ive just finished sculpting a model for HF Izanagi, entirely from scratch (bar the left arm and face). Will snap some pics later. Ive decided i do not like sculpting hands.

Even better with color!! I was going for a VC-type scheme, primarily black w/ purple/blue secondary and/or tertiary... but that green and orange/red looks pretty damn good! And now, like a d-bag customer, you wouldn't be able to put dead yellow grass and snow on that base, would you...? Y'know, fit it with the rest of my army...?

I can't wait to see the other! I'd say the samurai is a big success! Also, tips on how you did the head ornament! It looks fantastic! I could take a lesson from you on making those!

@Remi: Haha, i kinda figured id leave the basing to you, so you can match it. Besides i cant do snow basing for toffee. I can repaint the skelly if you want me to.

As for the other, here she is. (I may or may not paint her, depends whether inspiration hits me before i send the stuff to you) Lemme say this now, hands are not fun to sculpt! I have to say thanks to you for starting your project though. These two have been a super fun revision diversion, and i really feel like my sculptings improved after this.

As for the head ornament, i pretty much took a triangle of plasticard and randomly cut it! Tutorial done

Also, you say you could take lessons from me. There's a big difference between having a laugh making one samurai skelly, and making an entire army. I dont envy you!

... fine. I'll end up basing him... *grumble, grumble*

I have to agree- this was a pretty rigorous exercise in sculpting. Excellent work though... I'm enjoying the female vampire/ghost as well! If she doesn't get painted, I might end up casting her as a banshee or a lead in a spirit-host base. There's a story of Okiku, a plate-breaking servant girl turned haunting spirit...http://www.artelino.com/articles/ghost_story_okiku.asp... I totally think she could fit that role... I really like the obi (belt) and flow around the legs!

And no... I don't envy the task either. It's very fun, going through maybe 1 or 2... but after making pads and fixing other conversion areas on the knights... egads, man. Ah well... I've got a year to go, so progress here and there, and I'll eventually end up with something resembling an army! Thanks again, and looking forward to making the exchange!

The fan needs to be bigger to hide her scary face!

Nice work sir, looking forward to seeing some paint on her.. these guys would look right at home next to Malifaux's Kirai.

Oh and thanks for the PM saying you'll give me the titan for free for being so great... I'm honoured!

In that case, i shall leave her unpainted. Thanks for the compliments!

Umm, its just some pvc tubes, with the bottom of a u-bend (the bit that catches the gunk) for the cartridge. Then i built up a blocky case. The frame around the barrels was just careful cutting of some cardboard, replicated 4 times, then with the gaps filled.

The fan actually covers all of her face bar the eyes when shes looked at straight on. As above, i made these for HF Izanagi, partly cos i got inspired by his project, partly because he's graciously sending me a beautiful piece of work. Its unlikely i'll paint her.

I'm seriously impressed by that sculpt! While the kimono could be more flowing, I have to admit I'm sure I would have worse.

Oh hey there Dakka!

Over the weekend i read IA 9 and 10 finally. Now im bloody inspired by marines again, curse my fickle nature!

So im gonna switch to marines for a bit. First up while i figure out whether to commission a few marines to copy or go it alone, is the Iron Thane of the Atropos War Clan of the Sons of Medusa. He's described in IA10 thusly:

Imperial Armour 10 - The Badab War - Part Two wrote:Iron Thane Valund Cal is the master of the Atropos War Clan of the Sons of Medusa contingent that took part in the Badab War. Clad in his hulking black metal and emerald armour, it is almost impossible to tell where the man ends and the machine begins. Vaylund Cal's almost entirely augmetic body is a testament to {C his lifetime's work as a servant of the Machine God. What little remains of his organic tissue is shot through with bionic and auto-sanguinary systems that increase his strength and endurance beyond even the superhuman levels of a Space Marine.

So i figured id make him huge even when compared to a truescale marine. Here's a wip of his legs. This is just the bionics atm, armour will go over most of the front. As you can see from the sm techmarine next to him, he's bloody huge!

LOL... Hawt dayum!! That dude is... whatever comes in-between terminator and dreadnought... I like how you're building him from the ground-up. The underwires and stuff followed by the armor... I'm excited for this project! - We've spoken about this before, and I'm interested in your take on the SoMs, made famous by GreyDeath.

Fair enough. Are you able to specify a bit more? I need to actually do the feet still

Aha! I got it! The legs are proportionally out of scale to the torso and head, I think, Im pretty sure the torso needs lengthening, and the head needs a bit biggerizing, at least thats what I think is wrong

Hmm ok. I may take some length off the shins then. I'll see how it turns out when its more complete. Thanks for the feedback.
