Hey guys!

After a hectic house move, ive finally finished up the Warhound Titan. Very happy with how this turned out in the end. The osl was the first time using the airbrush, theres definitely room for improvement, but im happy nonetheless.

Without further ado, have a butt-load of pictures

Some detail shots, and interior:

Spoiler:

And because it amused me, heres a before and after shot. Quite the improvement, if i say so myself.

Spoiler:

Hopefully you can see all the extras, like the purity seals, writing on all the scrolls, the grease/oil on the piston and ball-joints etc.

Thanks for looking dakka!

Great colour scheme you got their mate, looks more regal than normal colour schemes, I want something along these lines for my Redemptionist's.

Really cool pallet overall and detail is spot on, very much improved

@Gits: Thanks buddy!

@LDD: Cheers! Yeah i had a chuckle to myself at how bad the previous paintjob was. Its very gratifying to physically be able to see an improvement in painting.

@Dave:Ta! I was a little worried id gone overboard in the cockpit. Something still bugs me about it, i think its the fact that if there was that much light coming from the console, the rest of the interior would be dark, which it isnt in the model. Oh well, that can be for next time

@Rogue: Thanks mate!

Next on the plate im spruecing up a load of old stuff to ebay. Doing a baneblade into a plaguereaper atm.

Should i show progress here, or start a new odds and ends/ painting to sell thread?

Great job Vit, all the more impressive for being a rescue. I would say that I have to agree with you about the overdone lighting in the cockpit, it's the only bit that doesn't quite gel for me. There's a Menoth-y feel to the colour scheme that I love and the battlescape is the icing on (under?) the cake.

Great work, Vit!
Finishing such a big project is always worth congratulations, but you also did it very well.
I like the color scheme a lot. It's very unusual, which is an entirely good thing.
The plasma weapon is top notch, especially the sooty vents.

Things you could have done better are:
stronger highlighting (which only works properly with airbrush at this scale)
more weathering (you could still do that, no problem and it would raise the quality significantly)
the osl on the plasma gun could be even a little brighter in the middle (more towards white, would look more volatile and threatening, but that's just me probably)

Looking stunning vit! really nicely done, wish I had the first idea what to do with an airbrush, you got any tips for those of us who literally wouldn't know where to put the paint? (Makes for funny mental images, trying to pour it in the nozzle.)

But seriously, awesome job! can't wait to see more now that your in full swing.

Cheers Baiyuan! Yeah its a shame you only really see 2 or 3 different titan legion colour schemes. Im getting very sick of the Legio Astorum's blue and gold

Haha, funny you should say that, i did actually use an airbrush pretty much exclusively. Id say only the cockpit and the scrolls etc were done by brush. I do think some more contrast on the metal was needed, and shading on the armour too.

Yeah weathering would be a go, but i dont have any varnish atm, so dont want to slather powder all over it and then have it rub off I realised that about the plasma blastgun too when i finished, oh well, we'll say its powered down

Ta J! I'll be honest, i have very little idea what im doing myself. It may not look like it but i wing it with everything i do!

The best place to go is the P&M section (the regular, not blog or showcase obv). There are literally tens of threads about starting with airbrushes there. Its not that expensive to get a basic airbrush and compressor either, and still manage to achieve decent results. Hell, the airbrush and compressor i use for everything only set me back £70. (£50 for the compressor, £20 for the airbrush) I find with careful use of masking you can achieve the same results as with an expensive one. Although saying that, ive got confident enough that i dont bother masking and just freehand with a bit of card to block overspray, saves so much time.

PDH wrote:Nice Warhound! Really like the colour scheme.

Thanks a lot Peter!

@dave: Eh, im not gonna lie, i dont really like the general approach to nurgle. Im going for rusted to feth metal. On the commander as well, i dont like your typical blob with hole in it nurgle rot. And having looked at far too many necrotising diseases on google (NOT A FUN THING TO DO BTW) its not that realistic either. Hopefully the rot and decay will be conveyed with painting

Plaguereaper looking amazing. The Hellblade.... well... hmm... ok, by no fault of your own because the craftsmanship on your model is excellent... but I hate that model and really hope that's not the final design when Chaos gets flyers. It looks like a space ship from a (really) bad low-budget movie on the Sci-Fi channel. At absolute best it looks like something that Dark Eldar would fly. There's nothing about that design that says 'Chaos' to me.

Well i decided to make a thread for the stuff im selling, cos there appears to be a lot of it, and i dont want to clutter this thread. Please go here to check out the finished items, and if you fancy buying them pm me

Also, i decided enough was enough and went all Blue Peter on a cardboard box's ass. I transformed it into a beautiful lightbox, to hopefully increase the quality of my pics

Hey guys,

Ive recently caught AdMech fever again, thanks in no small part to rediscovering the Tempus Fugitives' Codex: Cult Mechanicus

http://www.tempusfugitives.co.uk/pdf/40k/Codex%20Cult%20Mechanicus.pdf

The last time i read this it was version 3.1 or something and its now 9.7! Theres a serious amount of improvement in there.

Another deciding factor was this Kickstarter:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dreamforge-games/something-wicked-this-way-comes-crusader-plastic-m/posts

The Leviathans are perfect for Knight Titans imo, and a steal at only $90 for an 8.5" multi-part plastic model:

Spoiler:

And the infantry should make some nice heavily armoured Skitarii:

Spoiler:

So in short i cant wait for those to ship so i can mess around

Ive also been playing around with a beaten up Land Raider which i was trying to sell. After looking at it just sitting there i couldnt resist the urge to pick it up and chop it to pieces

I took the top plate off and witched it around, so it is essentially a backwards land raider now. I havent got any pics yet because, well, it still looks like a backwards land raider, and i havent figured out how to change that yet. Still hopefully i can turn it into a passable version of a Land Raider Achilles.

In other news im almost about to move back to Bristol again, having spent a couple of months relaxing at the family home and recovering from first year of uni Once there i intend to buy a considerable amount of plasticard in bulk, and start a warhound or thunderhawk sweatshop. We'll see whether that ends up going anywhere

SO just a text update reminding you this thread hasnt died yet. Should have some pics of the LR in a couple of days.
