Noproblem. If you look up correct human proportion when related to head size that should help

Woo!

I also might have just bought two contemptors

One thing to bear in mind, is that this guy is a lot larger than a normal ts marine. Its a sc described as having an entirely augmetic frame, so normal human proportions dont really work. ie. Hes not a giant astartes, he has just had everything replaced with bionics. Thats why i chose a normal head.

Hmmm.... I see. Maybe encase the head, like termie armor, and dreadnoughts do, to make it seem bigger.
Also, two contemptors?

Thanks for your input btw, i do appreciate any and all comments.

I want to avoid making him look termie-esque though.

Yeah i figured one bad boy wasnt enough.

So ive been having a think, and with a dakka uk tourney coming up on june 10th i figure i may as well try and get these sons of medusa done by then. Nothing like a deadline to motivate you.

Assuming it gets ok'ed by the TO, im gunna run a list from IA 10. With 3 dreads, 2 contemptors, an LR, Vaylund Cal and 10 marines.

Which obviously means i need 3 dreads and 10 marines. I plan to do the dreads asap, but im gonna scratch build them.

So heres the start of one of the 10 marines. This guy is ts, so it shows you how big Vaylund Cal is.

wait, vit are you going to sculpt all the marines?

The eventual plan is to sculpt one suit of each of the marks of armour, then cast them up. Then i can have loads! I wanna do a TS Executioners army too.

However, for this tourney, i shall just sculpt 10 marines.

Impressive! I think you should make them like a very techy version of SOM's and say they are a retinue to Cal

Nice idea! I had planned to go bionic heavy for the whole army anyway. Maybe i could up that a notch for these guys

Great start, especially on the sculpted legs I would however redesign the bionic legs, they look very crude, almost orkish but that's just my taste I'd use some ball joints instead for the hips and ankles to make it look more articulated and then some pistons.

Looking forward to seeing more mate

Hmm ok guys, ive decided you're right about the legs.

So heres a start on the new ones. Much more high tech and streamlined, and also shorter to fit the proportions a bit.

the head is easy Vit.
Termie helmet, cut the front diagonally to the shin from both ends and you have something that looks like those mk-whatever knight-heads (well tbh makes it look like.. bigger GK heads)

otherwise, awesome conceptualising.

You could still use the old legs but they could use some armor plating, maybe the square segmented kind, to make them bulkier. That way you could cover up any flaws. I think that techmarines would probably have even thicker armored legs than a ts marine.

thought of using the bic lighter wheel-thingie as joints? i mean i'm bursting with ideas.
the original legs would look awesome with front facing rectangular 3/4ths of the leg plates, easily made with bent plasticard and outlined with thin 2-3mm broad strips o' evergreen

also if you want the piston look, just add a strip of plasticard to the bottom of each tube, or fit a larger tube outside the smaller tube.

Hip and ankle should be aye, probably do cog knees again.

Cheers. I quite like the size of the head, but will bear that in mind if i decide it needs to be bigger when its done.

Ok ok, i'll do close ups when its done

Got some segmented plates to put over the top. Should look nice.

I can achieve the lighter thing with all the watch parts, cheaper too Plan is to add 4 pistons to both of the shins, then jazz the thighs up too. WIll probably do cogs as knees, covered by armour.

Thanks for the c&c guys, It motivates me a lot and youre comments are really helping to shape this, so keep it up!

Tomorrow is friday (well, today technically. Ugggh, i should really go to bed), so that means a full day of uni. Hopefully the evening will be not too drinking heavy/busy as i really feel a night of revision and sculpting/modelling.

Oh yeah, and my contemptors shipped too! Score!

Drinking is very bad, and you most definitely should not drink, especially if you're underage. I however, am at uni, and 20. therefore i feel like if i dont destroy my liver now i'll never get another chance!

I similarly cant wait for my contemptor duo! I got 2 normal bodies, 2 of the cool asscans, 2 claws and one of the MLs. So i can run a 'furioso' for want of a better word and a mortis, or 2 normal claw and asscan contemptors

Interesting. I was quite fond of the old ones. I just figured you'd be doing a lot of sculpting over the wires and such (armor plating) to make it more-grimdark imperium rather than orkish. I can see that too, not to say that's not cool.

Keep it up and looking forward to more! (Especially when the painting starts!)

Go Vit Go!

Looking good. I might be in the minority but I did like the look of the old legs, I think its one of those things that needs to be finished for it to all "Click"...

.. I do however like the new legs and am interested to see where it goes from here...

Good luck Buddy!

Niice foot!

I agree with Regnak on the point about finishing one before it clicks, you really need to, since it is ultimately all about the sum of the parts, not them individually.
