Getting another "proper" board that matches up to the other one perfectly was a draw for BoB. The original 1st Ed Incusion board is supposed to be both similar and compatible, but not exactly the same, as I understand it? - So worth keeping, anyway.

The T-shirt would depend on the final design options, and how appropriate it would be to wear outside the house (without looking like a tool for having a cartoon zombie on your chest or back.)

Yeah,
I'd trade the T for minis all day long !!

I have a 1st ed board and getting a 2nd ed board soon. Weeeee!
I will have an orphan match up on boards....
If someone proposes a 1st board for 2nd board trade when we get the rewards I'm all ears

Panic....

Updated Pledge Graphics and More
Update #23 · Sep 1, 2013 · comment

Hey gang! Happy Sunday. I've gotten a bit of sleep and I'm starting to slog through the back end with John. Here in the USA, it's Memorial Day weekend so I think I'll get another day away from the office to honor my Grandfather who assaulted Normandy and was later wounded at St. Lo and the Battle of the Bulge. I swore I would name my first child after him. It was of course a girl :-) My daughter Harvey bears his name, nonetheless! I wish he was here to see what we've all just done on this Kickstarter. He would be proud.

If you received a notice that your payment to us through Amazon, can you please track the issue down and solve it yourself? There are far too many issues with people's personal payment situation for us to help you through them all. 99% of the issues can be resolved by you. If you cannot resolve the issue, then contact us at sales@grindhousegames.com for alternate payment method.

Do not worry about adding to your pledge (unless you want to) or the specifics just yet. We're still working on a clean back end. It'll take a couple of weeks to get this all sorted through a pledge manager.

If you missed the campaign, no worries. You can join in throughout the month of September and get the same rewards. More details on this soon.

We have taken the liberty of compiling a graphic showing what each pledge level (not including ala carte, Brick and Mortar, or Wallflower) gets. You'll find it in the link below.

Awesome campaign, people. You really came through. Be patient with us! The level of communication you have all come to expect from us will continue all the way up until your toys are delivered to your door.

Project Update #24: The Survey/Pledge Manager Plan
Posted by Jim Bailey Like

We have been working with the Backerkit guys to develop the pledge manager. It'll be another week or so before we get it deployed. The Kickstarter survey we send will be very rudimentary and mainly serve to sort between who's doing switch-outs in Buckets of Blood and who isn't. The heavy lifting will get done in our custom Backerkit survey that will follow and the pledge manager. With Backerkit, we'll be able to add new backers and manage all orders (even those of you that we'll be invoicing via Paypal) in one place so nothing gets lost.

Stay tuned, kids!

The "Checkout" Process
Update #25 · Sep 8, 2013 · 13 comments

For most of you, it will be super easy. If you pledged Buckets of Blood, you're already getting pretty much everything this campaign has to offer and everything you need to play Incursion until you are blue in the face. You'll just choose your shirt option and size and call it a day. You really don't need ANY add-ons. If I were pledging myself, I would pledge Buckets and add a set of Drop Trooper Dice (to have 6 in total) and a Poster. That's it. The vast list of add-ons is provided as a convenience to people who have bought in to this game at various points in its history and only need this or that component and for customizers or people who have a desire to get more miniatures for other game systems or metal figure enthusiasts.

Step 1: Download pledge calculator version 1.4 and fill it out for your records so that you understand the options. Please ask now if there is something you don't understand. http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0022/6852/files/pledge_calculator1.4.xlsx?156

Step 2: We will send a very simple Kickstarter survey sometime this week asking for contact/shipping info and if you intend to switch your pledge level and if so, to what level. We will also ask if you intend to switch out your shirt or extra board. Maybe one or two marketing questions as well. This will allow us to create a custom survey through Backerkit.

Step 3: We will send out a custom survey through Backerkit next week sometime with all of you hopefully in the correct pledge levels. You add on your add-ons, and settle up with us if there is any difference.

Here are the t-shirt options (1,2,3, and4). You'll choose which one you want and your size when we do Step 3. We'll be using Gliden shirts.

Below is a the "what you get" graphic again for your reference/convenience. Yes, SNAFU gets Sub Pen, though it's not shown and yes, there will be a 4th color for Brigitte included in the plastic Exclusive Pack #1.

None of those T-Shirts do it for me, so I'll be trading that in for...something else!

Project Update #27: Backerkit and some previews
Posted by Jim Bailey Like

Hey everyone! We're going to turn loose the Backerkit survey today. It's finally ready. If you’ve pledged you will get an email from Backerkit so please keep an eye on your junkmail. Each of you you will then fall into one of the following categories:

I’m happy with my pledge level and amount and responded to the Kickstarter survey accordingly: Do nothing! You will need to get into backerkit if you need to change your mailing address.

I want to add to my pledge and can use a credit card: simply go through the backerkit process. If you have multiple pledges simply add the additional pledges beyond your initial pledge level as an add-on. Please note that BoB has several pledge tiers based on swaps. Pay any additional amount with credit card via Backerkit.

I want to add to my pledge and use Paypal: go through the backerkit process. If you have multiple pledges simply add the additional pledges beyond your initial pledge level as an add-on. Please note that BoB has several pledge tiers based on swaps. Note that additional amount required and send an email sales@grindhousegames.com with the following subject line: “existing pledge, additional amount” and in the body of the email tell us the additional amount added to the original sum. We will send you a paypal invoice and once paid will adjust the pledge amount. You will then go back through backerkit to finalize your order.

I missed out on the KS and want to make an initial pledge and can use a credit card: Send an email to sales@grindhousegames.com with the following subject line: “New pledge, credit card” and in the body of the email indicate your pledge amount and initial pledge level. We will create a $0 entry for you on Backerkit and then you simply go through the backerkit process. If you have multiple pledges simply add the additional pledges beyond your initial pledge level as an add-on. Please note that BoB has several pledge tiers based on swaps. Pay the amount with credit card via Backerkit.

I missed out on the KS and want to make an initial pledge and use Paypal: Send an email to sales@grindhousegames.com with the following subject line: “New pledge, paypal” and in the body of the email indicate your pledge amount and initial pledge level. If you have multiple pledges simply add the additional pledges beyond your initial pledge level as an add-on. Please note that BoB has several pledge tiers based on swaps.

Let the chaos begin anew! :-)

Also, here are some previews of the Incursion and SNAFU rulebook covers plus a special assets book which will contain rules for Drop Troopers, the Kickstarter exclusives, Sub Pen missions, and whatever else we want to put in there!

Hey Everybody!

Well, nothing super exciting to report. Bunch of boring business stuff going on. I am so relieved that we have closed down Backerkit! At last, John and I know how many and what of what we need to produce. We've been sweating over spreadsheets trying to figure out how to produce it in as few item codes as possible. The good news is we've got it sorted and are working with Panda on the specifics at last. Yes, Panda is doing this one so rejoice. We're two months behind where I thought we'd be but still on schedule! Wendy at West Wind and I have decided we are going to build a proprietary database that works for complicated game Kickstarters. The tools that are available off the shelf out there are WOEFULLY inadequate. If y'all see John Roberts, give him a chuck on the shoulder. He's been nothing short of heroic dealing with all the manual changes to Backerkit and manual paypal invoicing.

Posters! We now have the quantity and the quote! Producing them locally so we should start shipping them in the next couple of weeks. I think we won't get t-shirts out to you guys in time for Thanksgiving but we can make it a merry Christmas. John's compiling the list for me now.

In other news, our dear friends at West Wind Productions are starting up another Kickstarter: 15mm War and Empire! It hasn't launched yet but should quite soon. Check out their website:

T-shirts, Posters, and a Peep Show

Posters: everyone except EU should have a poster if you paid for one (note they are not freebies associated with any pledge level...you would have had to actively decide to get one). Wendy at West Wind said she started shipping to EU this week.

T-shirts are in! John Roberts will be picking them up from me tomorrow morning come hell or high water, and begin shipping. Again, EU will be delayed because we need to sort the orders then send to Wendy at West Wind in UK for distribution to you. All four shirt designs are pretty awesome. We went with a real high-end printer and paid more than I had estimated but it's worth it. It's all machine screen printed in CMYK plus white and black on lovely soft Glidan shirts.

Gretel exclusive figure render! Can't wait to get this mastered and painted up. Dave Taylor of the newly formed Dave Taylor Miniatures will be doing the honors. His paint job will go to our Facebook contest winner. No, we didn't forget about that!

Still in negotiations with the Chinese manufacturer. Production schedule is slipping. Not sure by how much but it's starting to look like more than just a few weeks. As I know new things, so shall you my friends. Thanks for your continued patience and support!

HI there everyone. Time for monthly update! As I have said previously, I only intend to send out one update a month and I want them to be substantive. I think you will find this one to be so :-) To start with, John and I want to profusely thank you all yet again for your patience and support. You've all been so great. There is alot to talk about this month so I better get to it.

Boxed Game Production

Well, clearly I was a bit optimistic in my shipping estimate :-). I've been going into "mountain pose" a lot, lately. The first two runs of Incursion only took a few months from completion on our end to delivery on your end but we didn't have the complexity of 50-odd different plastic miniatures to deal with along with a simultaneous printing of a major game and what is essentially two expansions. We're clearly behind schedule though. I'll write an analysis when all is said and done but I think what is causing most of the delay is this: everybody is utterly inundated by the Kickstarter craze of the last couple of years and the whole system is backlogged. It's getting done though. Of that we have no doubt. What is entirely unknown is exactly when it will be complete :-)

I've asked Michal Lee of Panda games (in whom I have the utmost confidence) to write a note to all of you to give you a little insight into their production process. We are under contract and they received a down payment of $80,000 from John and I a couple of weeks ago after a long negotiation. Here it is:

Dear backers of Incursion,

Panda is extremely excited to be working on the production of Incursion. We think the game is going to look fantastic and I know from my conversations with Jim Bailey that he is extremely passionate and committed to working with us to bring you the highest quality game that we can produce. Incursion has a large number of unique and detailed miniatures so this is certainly one of the more complicated projects we’ve had to work on. The plastic miniatures are the components that will require the greatest amount of time to produce. All other components (dice and printed materials) can be completed in a relatively shorter amount of time.

We completed final analysis on all of the plastic miniatures and are now working on creating temporary moulds for all of the figures so we can make samples for Grindhouse Games to inspect. Typically, a few rounds of iteration are required during this part of the process to ensure that we can produce the figures to match the original sculpts, keeping our manufacturing limitations in mind as well. Each round of iteration takes approximately 4-6 weeks so it is difficult to gauge exactly how much time we will spend in this part of the production process. Sometimes we can get it right on the first try and sometimes 3 or 4 rounds of iterations are necessary.

After the temporary samples are looking great and approved, we will produce moulds which take approximately 5 weeks to produce. Afterwards, the final production of the figures will take around 8 weeks including assembly and quality control.

As much as we want to get this game in your hands as soon as possible, our top priority is ensuring that the game quality is top notch so that you will have a wonderful game which you can enjoy for many years.

Sincerely, Michael Lee, Managing Partner of Panda Game Manufacturing

Budget

When last we spoke, I told you that we would be able to fulfill the Kickstarter but we wouldn't have enough money to do a retail release. This is still true however we are in negotiation with a mid-sized game company with major distribution assets to co-publish with us and up the print run of the Incursion boxed game by a couple of thousand copies. This is all still very preliminary. We also have had some significant personal investment offers. Anyway, more on all that next month as and if things get more concrete. Until things are nailed down in a contract, they are ephemeral :-) Keep your fingers crossed people! Send us good vibes...

Sub Pen!

This is a separate square game tile that hooks in to any existing entrance point. Associated missions are still being worked on internally. We'll share them with you guys for external playtesting shortly!

New Game tile by David Ausloos
New Game tile by David Ausloos

Decals

The decals have been ordered. Our cost is $2.00 per sheet. Yikes! How does Tamiya put them in every single model kit? Clearly we haven't found "the guy". Trying to determine if we can get them done in time to ship with metals or if we will have to wait until the game ships. Will let you know soon.

Metals

Andy Cooper at West Wind was able to handle the metal mastering of the new figures in-house, avoiding the trip to Griffin for cold casting. Beyond the metal masters, production molds are made and as far as I know stock is being cast. Therefore it's clear to me that these will be shipping pretty close to on time per the original projected delivery date. I'd say its a good bet you'll have them in hand by the time I do the next update.

Thanks again for your support and, as always, don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. BTW, ALL posters and shirts should be in hand. If you are missing something you think you should have, give us a shout.

I backed this at the big level because I enjoyed the first edition. Even though I have the metal minis seeing this game get upgraded components and a bigger market seemed worth backing.

I am honestly appalled at the massive delays though. I really expected better from the Grindhouse team.

I'm not shocked about the delay (there's a lot of stuff to do and the original timetable never seemed realistic)

but disappointing it's taken them this long to say so as they clearly (should have been) aware of the timescale involved from shortly after the KS ended

The delay has been expected, but I am really wondering on what happened to the next edition of the SOTR game, and the boxed sets. Are they still on, or did they just hold what they had and only worked on the rules?

Really wished they would have had this in the bag by now though. I'll be working my own 3D boards, but it is the delay that's going to kick it with the other things I have going on.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

There's been depressing little talk of SoTR2 over on the 'official' Westwind Forums, though I think the belief is that the Grindhouse crew would still be writing the rules, so...

I am a bit miffed about the delay, well the length of it. we all knew it would be delayed but this seems a bit of a stretch.

we could be looking to almost 18 months wait from the date the project ended. like most gamers I back a project that is all new and shinny but how much of that shine will be left once the game actually arrives? will my response be "whoop whoop" or "Meh" and I store it away to be maybe played or eventually sold off..

18 months offers to many chances of a new and brighter shinny from come onto my gaming radar for me to be tempted. I really was happy with this game and still am but its a hard pill to take.

oh well time to go check out other shinny stuff.

Well, I expected a delay, this being KS. But the last we heard was "more than a couple of weeks", and now it's looking like a minimum of 6 months, and it could easily be a year (being realistic). Interesting to see LGW's reaction as well, given how positive you were throughout the campaign. Your kids will still be able to play it with you, but they might be graduating university when they're doing so...

I am still trying to be optimistic but .....

Then again if it takes another year for the game to come my kids will be older and most likely understand the rules better. Considering the daughter is turning 8 next month and the lad turns 6 end of may they will be closer to 9 and 7 when/if the game comes out.

I get that Jim and John have day jobs but the comms regarding this should have been out a lot earlier maybe then we could have taken the news a bit better.

It's the usual KS attitude. They're pretty adamant about sticking to one update a month, which means we'll be spending most of our time in the dark.

While I'm not going to have a meltdown, there's a reasonable chance my pledge will end up being hit for updated import GST when the new laws come into play, if it's going to be delayed that long. Shipping costs might also increase, but while I'm sympathetic to a degree, I'm less so when a project is delayed this long if they start asking for extra money for shipping... (since it's supposed to be shipping now, basically, and it looks like we'll be lucky to see it for Christmas).

June Update!

Howdy again gang! It looks like our last update has cleared up alot of issues regarding who intended to pledge for what. We've had tons of correspondence with folks. All metals have been shipped except for those special cases who have made other arrangements with us. If you have not received metals yet and think you should have them but have not talked to us, drop us a line.

Reminder, we'll be shipping replacement metal Gretel figures to those who were due metal Gretels because of the sporadic mould slippage issue around her face when we ship the boxed games. We have rectified the problem and I have approved the new moulds.

The drop trooper with Mechbusch sniper rifle is metal only. It's a figure for the upcoming 1949: Secrets of the Third Reich 2nd edition. We included it as a freebie to those who ordered metal sets. It will NOT be produced in plastic.

We have no real updates regarding the production of the boxed games. China has been working on the plastic figure moulds and working with us on file formatting and so forth. Carl Brown has been putting the finishing touches on the "Assets" book that will contain all the new missions, Drop Trooper and Exclusive figures rules, all of your names, etc. Hopefully we'll see a real breakthrough in July. Feels to me like somebody just got a temporal distort spell off that has remained in play since last year!!! Remember our discussion last month about Chinese backlog...

Our deal with the game company that was going to take us to retail fell through. Back to square one! As I said previously, it looks like your copies will be quite valuable :-) This will be the most overproduced small run cult classic boardgame with expansions in the history of mankind. I think that ultimately, the old punk rocker in me actually prefers it that way!

Painted models! Behold all the new models below rendered in Dave Taylor magnificence. This Gretel will be going to the winner of the Facebook contest we had during the campaign.

Love you guys. Patience...
