Just something I've noticed.

All my Superglues have gone all...well....jellified. Seriously. Proper think and gloopy, and about as much use as tits on a duck.

Now whilst this has happened in the past, it's typically taken a year or so of sitting on a shelf having been forgotten. But this year, I've been buying and building a lot. And I've got a sneaking suspicion that Finecast might have something to do with it. Most recent pot in particular has only be used on Finecast and Forgeworld...

Anyone else encountered this?

My tube of Wickes own brand has gone thinker and gloopier but that was a couple of months ago when we had that (brief!) spell of hot weather. Are you sure yours hasn't been exposed to direct sunlight?

Actually, I have found that since it turned that way, it bonds quicker and easier than it did before in its 'natural' state.

Not especially, and I wouldn't say more than the previous ones.

Finecast is about the only unifying factor in their usage I can think of. And it's a pain the arse, because I've got Golgfag, The Gutsman and a Firebelly to build now. And when I bought them, I decided I was alright for Superglue.

Perhaps squeezytubeglue will be a better idea.

? A puzzler for sure?

I'm not sure hay finecast/FW resin would get into your superglue to have an effect TBH.

Silly question, you have not just bought the gel version of your regular superglue have you?

on the forum. Obviously

Yeah. I've noticed that they go gloopy after a while too. But my discovery happened before Finecast. I think it happens if it becomes contaminated, or if it's not properly sealed.

Nope. On account of being a lazy sod, and the shop being 10 minutes from my door, I get it in GW. And I can rule out a single dodgy batch, as the bottles are all varying ages.

Rather perplexing.

its just a theory, but if enough particles of the finecast resin got into the glue, that could be the cause. I say this because a friend of mine accidently got some plastic into his plastic glue and couldnt get it out so he left it in, came back, 3 days later and it was a solid piece of hard grey glue :/

Cyanoacrylate glues have a shelf life. From the moment it gets in contact with air it goes bad. I usually end up buying new glue every 4-6 months. Storing in hot locations can also increase the process of it going bad. I never buy the largest bottle since it usually goes bad before it's half way used.

I've had a similar problem with GW brush-applied superglue and resin models. I may not have managed to rinse off the dust and release agent properly, or the brush was just too effective at picking up dust from the surface. If you use squeezy type glue it is harder to bring contaminants back into the bottle.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Quite a lot if I'm honest!

Though I have now found another of the newer style bottles, and that's just fine and dandy, and has been used on Finecast.

Will let people know if that goes funky shortly.

Nottingham (yay!)

All my glue went gloopy over the summer and none of it had anything to do with Finecast. It's a generic poundshop brand.

I had a similar experience with my gluebrush after assembling 2 boxes of wracks. The applicator brush and the glue on it turned into one solid blob after it sat overnight sealed in the glue container. I thought it was strange but never thought to link it to the resin dust on the applicator brush. That's a trip.

Peace is an individual conquest; it has never been a deed of the masses.
