Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

1. How fast can you guys paint your models?

If you look into my gallery, you can see that my models are about Tabletop standard, and I do them pretty slow IMO
2. It took me 6hrs to paint about 40 Kriegsmen + Plasma lighting effects, other personalized details etc.
Is this fast or slow?

Thanks.

look at my gallery and judge the quality of the Knights Of Solstice
they take about 15 minutes per squad

Automatically Appended Next Post:
you are a pretty slow painter, but considering the model quality, you are at a normal painting rate

I can't even get myself settled to paint in 15 minutes! I'm a really slow painter (at least a couple of hours per marine, say) but what I lack in pace I make up for in ... umm, below-par quality.

I'm a fool to myself.

Wow 40 kriegsmen in 6 hours is rather fast! I usually take one hour per rank and file model, and about 2-4 hours for special models.
I have no gallery to show the quality now though, but I hope I'll have something to show soon.

At first your models looked a bit messy to be honest, but when you look close, there is alot of detail there.

If I could paint at 40 figures per 6 hours I would've finished my marine army 9 years ago.

Well... your army is more awesome (checked it from your gallery).

Id say average speed. If you look at my Death Guard gallery- each marine there took me around 2-4+ hours of work. But I tried to do my best there, so It was slow. And I batch painted my marines, but that took a very long time...

Everyone has their own way they do things. Id say you should stick to whatever works for you.

My Tau Fire Warriors usually take between 2 and 5 hours each to paint. Protip: never paint anything white, it takes forever.

I posted a tutorial of sorts on my blog where I talked about my "30 min" rule. Every time you paint a single mini, put a timer on, set it for 30 minutes, and see how much CLEAN work you can get done in thirty minutes, when the timer is up evaluate your progress.

You will be surprised how quickly your skills will improve. I have always said, and I firmly believe, a clean paint job will look so much better on a gaming table than detailed paint job. Dont get caught up in the detail of each mini, the cool factor will take care of it self when the entire unit is placed together on the table.

That depends tho, if you gonna paint big areas white you really should prime it white and then do coats of diluted white, else you can go from a color like Space Wolve Grey or Astronomicon Grey (both cover darker colors pretty well) to white with the same step than before but with more coats.

for me it depends on the model, some are like... 1 hour per model but my killteam and others are 4 hours each.

But i'am not the best painter so my works don't really reflect the amount of time I put in.

Astronomican Grey is a godsend, it easily halves the time it takes to paint lighter colours. Unfortunately the Fire Warrior models themselves are so fiddly with their neat, little lines.

For me it depends on the model and what techniques I used to paint them. Something with lots of super clean lines and contrast between light and a dark color take longer. I probably spent weeks painting each one of the Khorne Berzerks I did. Lots of joints between a very very bright red and black with sliver dry-brushed on it. On the other hand the Imperial Guard I've been doing only take an hour or two and still are to a very high standard, they just use easier/faster techniques to do. By my estimation though I take quite a bit longer to paint things than most people I know. Once you strive for a very high standard on all your models it's hard to force yourself to paint something crappy just to do it quickly ... so my stuff looks amazing ... but I never get anything done lol.

I quite literally get one Malifaux model done per day. That's it. Granted a little less for little things like Arachnids, But it's longer for masters and Henchmen

I don't think there really is any sort of 'average speed' for painting. It's all completely dependant on personal skill, painting style, the actual model being painted, and on just how much detail you cram on there.

It takes as long as it takes.

Took me about 10 hours to get 80 Guardsmen from the sprue into painted minatures but these are the most basic, block painted minis you've seen. I did them to kick off my IG army and I keep going back, touching up mistakes. Probably takes me 4-5 hours to do my better painted Kasrkin squads.

Compared to me, that's inhuman...

I take about 2 hours just to do one Chaos Space Marine.

Though I find it really depends on what I am doing/watching whilst painting and how big my batch is; that is, my batches can be of any size and I always seem to finish them just as quickly as I would a smaller one.

The squad of 1/72 Americans in my Gallery only took about 40 minutes though; just so much easier to paint that scale than it is Warhammer... less details and steps too.
