Using dice would be a pain and be prone to error everytime the squad moves / gets into CC.

Some guy I know has these little rings he throws on each model when they take a wound, but I am looking for a more elegant solution. Has anyone magnetized their bases and thrown ... something ... on there to signify a wound? If so, what? And what magnets did you use?

The easiest way is on the back of your army list. I have seem folks magnetize little skulls to bases to signify the same thing though.

For a squad of 10 Nobs, all with different equipment, the easiest way to track them is to make a spreadsheet on the back of your army list.

Name..........Wound 1.....Wound 2

Painboy X
Bosspole
Banner X X
Powerklaw
Powerklaw+Runt

That sort of thing. Can't really draw lines on Dakka, or it would look better.

A friend of mine had his custom Mephiston with magnetized skulls on his base for wound markers. Another guy I play with uses magnetized tank tread links the same way. It's a pretty elegant solution I say.

I haven't personally, but a guy who went to the GW I used to frequent had a (rather splendid) eldar exodite army. He put very small magnets in the bases of his multi-would models to hold wound counters.

In the UK (you probably got them in the US as well) there was a bunch of cheap magnetic jewellery kits on saleHere is a link to one of the kits for more info:

He then used the magnetic gems out of those kits as wound counters, and they simply stuck to the magnets inside the bases.

Me, I use the ring-pulls of soft drinks cans...

Nice. Skulls would look cool. Pre (?) Magnetized gems would certainly be impossible to miss on a base. I never would have thought of the gem thing.

I just use little boxes on my army summary spreadsheet. Or a seperate sheet for my Orks or Ogres.

I have seen people magnetise bases such as 'nid swarms, 'cron scrabs etc. so as you lose one, you remove it.

Love the skulls on base idea! Might have to use that one! Hmm, got me thinking now!

Great thread topic!

My Hive Tyrant has a soft foam base and I created these little crystals with pins as wounds for him.

Second thoughts, maybe I should save the ring pulls from my beer cans? Endless supplies!

The only multiwound models I use are Obliterators and characters, so usually I just put a die on their base to mark wounds. I imagine in a unit of 10 Nobz this would get pretty cumbersome though.

I think Dash's method is the best for keeping track but I like to give my opponent a visual representation of what's going on and i'd like it if my opponent does the same for me.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

That's kind of how it came into being, drinking copious amounts of alcohol while wargaming at home whilst at uni led me to use the beer can ring-pulls as wound markers. Sometimes to come up with a solution you have to add alcohol

Oh look, unintentional chemistry pun, leave it to you guys to suss that one out

I had to switch over to soft drinks though, apparently I couldn't crack open a 4-pack of Carling while in GW

LOL @ Leigen_Zero

I think I am going to go the magnets route. Either metal skulls (no clue where to buy these) or some gem-type stuff that hopefully comes pre-magnetized, otherwise I'll glue my own on.....

I see what you did there.

Personally, I just leave a die trailing behind my characters, and forfeit the game when a buddy brings Nobz. (Just kidding, he'll have his own methods...)
