Recently I played Space Hulk with very fun, and have been very interest in inner spaceship boarding battle.

And a my friend found a rule of spaceship boarding combat in IA vol.9 Badab War, for me.

So I want play with the rule but have no appropriate game table, then I and master of our local gaming cafe(not a shop, just provide gaming place) decide to build a fitting table for play.

We used paper-craft terrain by Stone edges, from here.

http://www.stones-edges.com/scifi/orbital

Basically we used those terrain set, but doors are from Space Hulk 2nd edition.

Last week we finally finished the 4 x 4 sized board which coated with iron plate, magnetized wall modules, corners, and doors to create new random board easily.

A Lift on building's left side is magnetized too, so it can be up and down.

We have plan to used board with 40K: boarding assult rules, Kill Team, Infinity game, and so on.

I post some pictures below, with playing Boarding assult rules set in IA:9.

C&Cs are welcome.

wish everyone have good day

The whole board.

Doors and Laser Gate.

Orks horde storms.

A Killa Kan entering control center by lift.

Snipers on the roof.

Other pics.

Thank you.

Awesome work! Have you found 40k interesting to play on it? How modular is it? I would be concerned that most game would turn out the same due to the close quarters.

Well, I've found something to be jealous of today. That board is great. Steel plate with magnetized wall sections is absolutely brilliant, and while I'm not normally a fan of paper terrain it's well used here.

Pretty cool looking!

Not sure if 40k would survive in a grid like that, I mean, would it break the game? can jump troops leap the walls or is it all difficult ruins or what?

200 Orks would sure like walls like that I think. Flamers would be great! What does a landraider do in the halls? Heh.

I can see some challenges of actual play but it sure is sweet looking.

The lift is magnetized to lift up and down, but not by motor powered it should lift up/down by player's hand
By our house rule, using lift is cost normal 3" of climing up and down but do not rolls for move in difficult terrain.
doors have AV12, and laser gate could turn off by removing printed transparent plasticard.
The gate could turned on/off by model's LD check. If failed to turn on/off one model in contact should have dangerous terrain check.

Every wall sections, corners and doors are moduleized each. the building is a module of itself.

We intended the board for small sized game no bigger than 1000 pts game, and agreed to use house rule that no army can have more than 50 models on this table.
The table is too small to hold many models.
And there are too many close quarters battle occurs, we consider shooter army like Tau or IGs may use about 100 points or 1~2 Stratagem point more than his opponent in 750 point game.

The rules we intended to use in IA:9 does not allow use vehicles other than walkers on 60mm base, but we have thought of use vehicles in board with less positioned walls to give them enough space to maneuver.

The concept of the table is the hull of massive spaceship, rooms and corridors with ceiling, and in our plays we found that if jump infantry allowed jump over walls, the jumpers like Blood Angels have too many advantages that could be devastating reapers of shooting infantry even though rules that jump infantries move more then 6" should have dangerous terrain check, so we agreed to not jump between walls, but jumpers can still clime up and down the bridge and building without penalty of not using entrance.

Thank you

As far as the Boarding Action rules are concerned you've got a truly fantastic setting here. The Foam-Core terrain is done very well. Thanks for sharing this!

Kudos - I adore the board! It's just crying out for a swarm of 'Nids lurking within, ready to be cleansed by fire.

Great work.

Outstanding work. I would love a table like that to play on.

I would play this table as a ship/bording action setting:

1. No non-walker vehicles

2. I would use COD rules substituting "rooms" for buildings so that stratagems could be played on rooms, etc.

I bet it would be a blast...

That is a great Boarding actions are a blast. I've played games like that before as well as sewer system type games and they are always intense.

Of course you have to alter the rules slightly, no vehicles other than walkers, etc. and use a smaller points value than normal.

I like that City Fight stratagem rules idea, that would be great.
