Nice work on the repaints, usual high standard

I have always liked devastator marines, the Emperors Finest carrying big guns!

Mostly, on my phone.

I think it's easy to take for granted how talented you are and how good your stuff is. You crank it out, and that's all the more impressive the way you preserve your standard across an army. Just ace.

Most excellent. Love the stripy shoulder pad with the scribbles.

I think it's time you started experimenting with OSL techniques as part of your regular GK techniques. Airbrushes help but are not required.

A challenge is thrown down, will Knightley accept?

@Graven - Thanks for the kind words mate, it means a lot.

@Gits - Tough call, If I look at doing OSL, I'll have to do it for every model in my army, while I don't have a close up of all the models, below should give you an example of what I would have to do

The top right is all the Grey Knights that would require a repaint. Going by the fact I'm now just getting to repainting these devastators after 4 years, I may hold off doing OSL on my GK's perhaps on other models?

@Mad - Cheers, I'll decline with the GK OSL, perhaps with another paint scheme.

Update: new model started

I don't think you do knightley... painting should evolve over time. Adding a little OSL to a figure here or there shouldn't in any way diminish what you've painted already, nor does it necessitate re-doing your entire army. It just shows that your skills are progressing and that you're trying new things.

See now I'm torn, I agree with you, yet I've always wanted a force to look unified no matter which model you look at. I'll think on this more.

Update: Highlights and some base red done

Exquisite edge highlighting. And i agree with gits. ultimately, there's more than one faction in your force anyway

Another approach might be to only work on new techniques on special models.... HQ's, sergeants, stuff like that. Things where looking a little different just helps to convey the importance of that particular figure to the army.

@Graven - Again very true, and I also have plenty of side armies to get through (more on that later)

@Gits - That seems like a good idea, I have some chapter masters/captains/chaplains which will be painting in the future so trying some additional techniques on them sounds like a plan.

Update: Marine done, 2 more to go!

So I wanted to the assassins to have a unifying look but be unique as well, so after seeing how some of the other Dakka users painted their assassins I'm going with a coloured wash for each assassin, green - Vindicare, Blue - Calexus, Red - Eversor and Purple - Calidus and have some of their wargear the same colour. The unifying part is they will all have a bone white face area and all have a roman numerals on their shoulder to denote who they are and have blue eye areas

Got started on the bases after giving all the assassins a wash.
