If this LOW rumor is anywhere near true I hope Ghaz has gotten a Primarch scale rules update. Because if I am right Primarchs in 30K are LOWs.

I know that the Primarchs are LoW in 30K, but even as much as I love Ghaz, he doesn't seem to rise to primarch-level status. Now, if they changed his stats, I could see him occupying a position similar to a Primarch, but I think that's unnecessary and unsupported by the background. In any case, however, that would be an entirely different subject than moving him from HQ to LoW.
I hope that didn't come across as sarcastic or snide. I really don't understand what 'direction' it would move the game towards.
A) I think the fluff supports an Ork equivalent for a Primarch, at least pre-Heresy. IIRC, one of the HH novels mentions an Ork warboss throttling the Emperor himself on a battlefield before Horus saved him. So, I think the background can certainly support a 30k LOW-style Ork SC.
B) I think such a move would make a lot of sense; it encourages people to at least do more than knee-jerk ban all LOW. If it encourages people to actually play out games with LOW slot as a choice, I see it as a good thing. Like others have pointed out up-thread, most of the LOW available are not OP. If there are one or two that do end up curb stomping other competent lists, maybe those should be addressed directly instead of a blanket ban on all of them.

The reason people don't like LOW is only half because they are massively unbalanced, the other half being that many people (like me) don't think models that large and expensive belong in a "standard" game of 40k. They should be an oddball thing IMO, typical in Apoc games but rare in your standard game less than or equal to 2000pts.

If true, Ghaz would never be in the same army as a Stompa. This only lends credence to the theory that Ghaz is a Stompa, which is why you never see them at the same time. At a whim, Ghaz simply transforms back into his normal self, but stays in the LoW slot.

Gharkul Blackfang. The Emperor himself had to kill him. There's your Ork Primarch/LoW.
Can't remember the name of the Ork that strangled the Emperor, Horus killed that one (Cut the Orks arms off to save the Emperor).
Snagrod would probably be a better candidate for a LoW than Ghaz. Ghaz is just pretty smart.
Ghaz as a LOW sounds like someone trying to generate page hits to me.

The Ork attacking the Emperor at Garro wasn't killed by Horus (not explicitly at least).

I have on good authority that the Ork Codex is going to be up on preorder with the next white dwarf, along side with an "Ork Mek" miniature and an "Ork Painboy" miniature, and ontop of that there is something called "Datacards: Orks"

sounds like stat cards for units or something similar to what other games have maybe for quick reference.
Edit. either that or a miss translation of the ork psychic cards

this one came from a facebook post
"Next week releases: Mek, an ugly (not in good way) Painboy, Codex, and a deck of cards (the 36 objectives card except 6 of them are Ork specific, plus 7 Psychic powers). The Gazghkull supplement is in the Warboss edition of the Codex.
Looted Wagons are in the WD, with a big fat "WD exclusive" stamp so it's pretty safe to assume they won't be in the Codex. (A Looted Wagon with a cannon appears to cost less that the cannon upgrade alone was costing in the old codex)."

Going from a " WD Exclusive" stamp on the Looted Wagon to "There will be no Looted Wagon in the codex the rules will only be in White Dwarf" is a pretty huge leap in logic that I just don't buy. I'd bet money the " WD Exclusive" stamp is a highlight for a model conversion project for a Looted Wagon to highlight how to build one, or some similar kind of feature.
If GW was going to release a codex with units missing, and then fill in missing units with White Dwarf rules, they might as well leave the Gorkanaut and the Mek Gun rules out of the Ork codex too. Just make us buy the White Dwarfs instead. The rules for those units are fully in the White Dwarf, after all.

Then what happens when the White Dwarf issue with the rules goes OOP and the recently released expensive hardback Codex lacks the unit entry also?
GW would be stuck with a new model kit still on sale, but with no way for customers to obtain the rules.
I guess at that point they'll probably just stick it in a 2nd supplement Codex and charge players again, forcing them to get the supplement if they want the Unit.

WTF !? GW, you never fail to amaze me... So my Ghaz Model will really be used as a buffed warboss from now on. I won't buy a 150$ codex (whatever the price of the warboss edition) just for this one model.

Here we go again, after having stuff in codexes, codex supplements and dataslates why not add a new source of official content! (I know they did that in the past but I thought with the 3 current source of army rules, we wouldn't need a 4th one!)
Next month, we will have web exclusives behind a pay wall.
Anyways, can't wait to see the codex.

Well, this is exactly what Games Workshop did with the Dakkajet. They gave us a new model, with only White Dwarf rules. Then they "fixed" that by releasing the terrible "Death from the Skies" book. Ugh.
Still, I really doubt this will happen with the Looted Wagon.
