As it says in the tin. A ROB takes Teddy and turns him into a space marine and sends him to the Warhammer 40K universe? How awesome would Teddy be if he were to join the Space Marines and fight the Orks, Tyranids, or Tau? How awesome would this be?

Everyone knows Teddy couldn't be a Space Marine; he's not British. In the future, everyone's British. Science Fiction has told us this!

Actually, I'm pretty sure Teddy Roosevelt was a lost primarch and started the Space Bears chapter, who ride genetically modified grizzlies into battle and fight with their Bear Claws, which are like lightning claws but more delicious.

Well, he was a politician, so not that awesome xD

If we're talking Roosevelts, Franklin Delano would make more sense since he was a wartime leader, but still, these guys were politicians, not fighters.

Teddy started, and headed, a Cavalry group called the "Rough Riders" before becoming a politician.
He and the Rough Riders became famous after charging up San Juan Hill, if I remember correctly.

It was the dual charge actually. They charged Kettle Hill and San Juan Hill the same day, and he earned the Medal of Honor for it (posthumously).

Delano Roosevelt was a born and bred politician pure and simple. Teddy Roosevelt was a wannabe warrior turned politician who actually proved himself in the field to be more than the sum of his parts.

I personally think that Teddy would have been overlooked by Astartes 'scouts' as he had a serious childhood illness which made him the poster-child 90 lb weakling. However, he did overcome that illness and became the force we have come to know through history.

I think it's relevant that a quote from Dawn of War, "Walk softly, and carry a big gun" is based on Teddy's famous line, "Speak softly, and carry a big stick".

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

Teddy was great but surely he would never have been picked as a marine, he was not very tall and had poor eyesight.

The roughriders were, of course, beaten to the top by an Africa-American unit but that hardly suited the press bias of the era...

Teddy was secretary of the navy under the McKinley administration and quit to form a military unit of cavalry made up of various cowpokes he met whilst on western ranches in his youth and dudes from his priveleged East Coast, Ivy League background. He pulled strings to get them deployed into combat in Cuba in the Spanish-American War. You absolutely cannot fault him for putting his money where his mouth was. He was an imperialist and jingoist, etc who believed that nations were engaged in a life-an-death struggle but rather than send off young, poor men to do the fighting he actually did some himself. Fair play. Not sure the rough-riders did a massive amount of actual fighting though!

He was an all-round top man, only president I know of to invite a world boxing champion to a bout at the white house and lose an eye doing it, or invite foreign ambassadors to go skinny dipping in the Potomac, or kiss a huge python on the lips for a photo-op, or pretend to be merciful to a baby bear cub, sparking a huge industry in cute toys, then quietly have it shot once the press had gone, etc, etc, etc. What a guy!

I think he would make a better commissar. He was a fanatical devotee of fin de siecle imperialism and social and national darwinism. He was brave enough to throw up his privelege and risk his own neck. He would certainly be happy to execute waverers and drill fanatical zeal into the men, utterly convinced by Alfred Thayer Mahan's philosophy of space power!

Correction - Teddy Roosevelt was assistant secretary to the navy under McKinley, then became vice-president in McKinley's second term after his fame with the rough-riders and got the top job after mcKinley was assassinated.

When he was nominated for vice-president the chairman of his own Republican Party allegedly said "Don't any of you realise there is only one hearbeat between this madman and the White House!"

At the time the position of vice-president had little real power, or duty, and giving Teddy the vp position pulled him out of New York politics where his primary campaign promise was to clean up the corruption. The political machine thought it was a form of damage control. No, Teddy would have gotten himself recruited by the inquisition. Someone should write the Eisenstick trilogy. Hmm unicorn ....bear....Beowulf....anyone know Latin for bear? Eisenursa trilogy? Maybe a story about his twin sister Icy Ursula......I am too tired. Need my Internet license revoked.

I imagine him more like a Marneus kind of marine more on the building up worlds and making them prosper. rather then a scrappy CC crazy guy.

I do however have a space marine scout who is painted and looks like George Bush. I think its freaking hilarious. I had an epic game where he ended up killing that Al'rahem SP? IG guy that outflanks. my opponent was trying to kill him so bad but America killed the terrorist in the end hahahah.

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood.
