Ork Boy Hangin' off a Trukk
|
Murrdox wrote:One of the earlier pictures of the Ork Mek has him with a Cybork cutting arm which looks suspiciously close to the cutting arm of the Painboy.
I'm wondering if this new Mek will be some kind of dual kit to make either a Mek or a Painboy. Part of me says "Of course not" simply because certain main body items on the Mek such as the apron with the tools in it wouldn't really apply to the Painboy. But we'll see.
I'm moderately excited about Mega Blasta pistols though, that's pretty cool. I hate "Get's Hot" weapons with the Orks though. With Space Marines, it's not that bad. You have a pretty good hit chance compared to the 16% misfire chance, and if you DO misfire, you've got a 66% chance to negate the wound.
On an Ork though, you have a really BAD chance at hitting with the weapon. Your chance to hit is only twice as good as your chance to misfire the weapon! Then on top of that, you're almost guaranteed to suffer a wound because of the Ork T-Shirt save.
You appear to be missing the point.
It will probably be about half the points, with a higher strength.

I too am thinking we will likely see a dual kit cyborg/mek.
Makes sense and will certainly make for an AWESOME kit. You can produce both models with the bits each time using an ork boy or nob body and the additional bits.

Awesome, new cards! I have other armies, so choosing to place race specific vs general is awesome.
I get done my job on the 27th, (at a work site) so it'll be great timing to get the codex and cards.

It seems Tactical Objectives are like Warlord traits- you can use the generic ones in the BRB, or army specific ones in the codex.

Datasheets BEFORE the codex, and the excuse to not include them in the book for free is.....??
This is beyond pathetic. Oh we know looted vehicles are beloved, even if typically weak. What if we can force our sheep to pay more to have a complete dex, that way it wont look like our codex prices are going up, but really they are!
Also before you go defending them, it says EXCLUSIVE. Which means its not included in the book we are about to shell out for. So now if we want to have our full army (without internet download shenanigans), we need the codex, and to buy this white dwarf for 4 bucks, rip out the pages so we don't have to lug the thing around all the time, and put them in the book.

The terrain rules also need datasheets.

But if you DON'T buy the WD rather than print out a hi-res scan, and buy a special binder to contain the WD and carry it around with you to every game then you won't be able to complain! And everyone knows complaining is why TRUE FANS of 40K REALLY like the hobby!

Yes I know its easy as pie to aquire the rules underhandedly. I am just mad they aren't included in our product that hasent even been released. Its not years later, its weeks before. And this has probably been completed for a month or more. Couldn't this have just been included in the book for the prices they are demanding today?

Why not include the rules in the book in the first place. This isn't an afterthought months after the release. Think you can cut the sarcasm long enough to give a well thought out response?

Because some people will buy the WD for the rules in a nice paper bound format. It will make GW a little more money in a very low margin business and increase interest in their weekly physical communique.

Said better by kosake then I could respond with.
"It's not whether you can buy something or not. It's about your responsibility as a mature customer. If you buy this just because you can afford it, all companies everywhere will start to milk you for cash wherever they can, to the point that the paper wrapper around your hamburger will cost you extra. If you do not buy into these DLC-style transactions and do not support other dickish moves like dataslates and the like, companies will stop trying it. It's up to you to decide, if you still want decent products, fair cost-to-product ratios and ocasional free stuff or if you want to give companies your hard-earned cash just because you can. Mind you, it's not about not being able to afford something. It's about how you want your financial environment to be.
Regarding opening post: Yup. Scanners, copy maschines, typewriters, paper & pencil have all been lost to the dark age of technology. Praise the omnissiah ( GW), holding the only available means of data storage. I give it half a day until first scans appear on 4chan or something. "

Why would Apple stop GW from releasing the physical book? I'm 99.9% positive this is GW testing out a new release style.

There really is no point in stating your opinion on these so called "DLC". It
Many people hate them because they feel like they should be in what they originally paid for.
Many people don't really care because it is extra content that's not required.
No one will convince the other they are correct.

Would people rather GW just drop the Looted Wagon entirely? Because that was the more likely option, as it does not have an official kit, and plenty of other companies make their own versions of it. So getting rules for it, even in WD, is a good thing. I'm rather sure Tyranid players would be rejoicing if the Spore Pod was included in an exclusive White Dwarf rather than dropped entirely, and Guard would have appreciated the Griffon and Medusa being WD exclusives rather than FW again.
People complain that the WD is useless or a waste of money, and then also complain when they put exclusives into it. And it's a White Dwarf, with apparently the full rules for the unit. They could have done Codex: Looted Wagons like they did for Knights, or Codex Mek's Workshop with Big Meks, Mek guns, and Looted Wagons, like the Militarum Tempestus book.
As for the codex, it will be preorder on the 21st, released on the 28th, per BigRed at BoLS
