hi all,
I have already heard some ideas from friends and they keep talking about that simple green thing.. but I'm afraid thatno hardware stores or shopping malls or any shop at all has the famous simple green available.. so I'm looking for a european variant , I heard simple green is available in the UK but I live in belgium (yes we're the country that has been the longest ever without a proper goverment, and yes we are a real country ) So i need the a similar product and i need it quite fast.. i only have two weeks left to paint a lot of eldar..
Desperate for help..

And "Dettol" is another european cleaner that works well. Undiluted, from what I'm told.

It works well diluted as well in my experience. You want the bog standard brown Dettol. We cannot get simple green in the UK either

Dettol strips paint!
Nice info. How does Dettol effect metal plastic, various glues and resin?

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.
It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. |

I've left plastics in the stuff for about a month before; does not even soften it. Might slightly weaken some glue bonds, but that may just be an already weak bond being broken by scrubbing. No problems with metal models or GS (that I have noticed).
Not used it on resins though.
Works in as little as 30 mins or so, depending on how thick the paint is. Fresh dettol will literally dissolve most paint, older dettol will slough paint off, or loosen it on the model.

Dettol removes superglue as far as i know and crumbles thin GS
Never knew how paint stripping worked but wanted to do it for a while so i did that a week or 2 ago:
1.Bought a bottle of Dettol 500ml(10 euro).
2.Got a glass jar and filled it halfway with Dettol(specifically Dettol because it were all plastics).
3.Tossed in a bunch of chaos marines and terminators a friend of mine gave to me after he quit 40k(painted real thick btw).
4.Waited 12 hours and brushed of the paint.
5. A lot of paint was still there in the recesses, so they liked another bath of Dettol for another 6 hours.
6. After that i brushed them clean another time with an old toothbrush, i didn't washed them with soapy water but let them dry for at least 48 hours in a good-ventilated room.
The models are as new(just as the reuseable Dettol, just get a coffee-filter and get a jar under it and you've got yourself new and fresh paint-remover),
Just posting my experience here hope i helped out someone!
Cheers,
Wolf
