VERY good point!

They may have actually outdone themselves here!

Ugh, that box looks really naff. The parchment looks really odd. I'll be going for the standard edition whenever they finally get it out.

I look at that and I think it'd be alot cooler to make my own leather slip cover and case. Cheaper too.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Well I guess we'll just keep an eye on some certain sites so that we've got something to read while our print copies are on their way.

Sadly, that's not how it works around here. Though Deathwatch should be out in a month or so, give or take. But first, the obligatory posed pic of the devs posing in a warehouse filled with those books. I'll get mine at my FLGS, sure it takes impossibly long to get there but its with an additional discount for the stupendous long wait.

Wait what.

Well, okay. Colour me surprised. Still need to wait to months before I can get my hands on it regardless.

I expect to see copies for sale at the FFG Event Center tomorrow.

Christian Peterson has gone on record stating that he has no idea where amazon and other sites get their release date info from since it certainly doesn't come from FFG. They no longer announce release dates until they have it in hand given the uproar of past releases not meeting predetermined deadlines.

Most new stuff that FFG sells out at Gencon wont be released until a couple months after the con when the chinese boat shipment arrives. When I visited the FFG Event Center yesterday it was mentioned that the new RPG books would not likely be as delayed as their boardgames. 'As delayed as their boardgames' being the qualifying statement.

The upcoming products and reprints section of their website should be taken with a grain of salt as the updating is kind of...questionable at times. Some items have been listed as "on the boat" for 5 months and while shipping by freightliner inst fast, it certainly isnt that slow. Sometimes a product simply just pops up as shipping now without any prior knowledge it was even being printed.

Supposedly it's on a boat, but like I said before, I've still got to wait a considerable time. First it goes to FFG, from there to the European distribution and from there to my FLGS. This may take a while.

I guess they can't because it's too much and possibly too expensive to do.

They did that for the Gencon stuff, but in much smaller quantities (as BrookM noted: pricey). Which is why you basically get two waves of releases from them this time of year for the same products. Gencon release and then wider distribution later.

Last year at the UK Games Day they only had one copy of Rogue Trader for people to thumb through, so I doubt we'll see it until our FLGS or Amazon gets it.

As soon as I wrote "it might make it worth it" I knew GW would probably never let them do it, even if FFG wanted to.

Yes and no. It is AV 14, but nowhere does it say that that version isn't Best Quality, or that you can't get Best Quality. So AV 15 is apparently possible.

I amused myself by converting Deathwatch rules into Sororitas Strike Force rules. Adjust the flavor rules (that allow you to get the effect of a fate point for free and all that) to suit the Sororitas' own personal view on their faith, remove the x2 on toughness and strength, replace it with Pure Faith and lores associated with the Ecclesiarchy. I should see if my usual roleplay group would be up for a quick campaign using these rules.

Deathwatch is proving to be more entertaining than I thought it would be, first female space marines and now this. Heh.

There are already rules for them. I just don't get why so many people want an SoB option in Deathwatch. There is already a game for that. SoB don't operate in the type of operations Deathwatch do, so I'd see it as a bit of a stretch to justify a protracted campaign.

The 'reasons' are obvious - to antagonize and/or 'troll' here on Dakka.
