Harbor Freight has all sorts of cool stuff, didn't know you were going to do any lighting on the 'hawk.

I think it is a good idea, Black, to light the T-hawk.

I wish I had thought more about exterior lights before I started. I feel like there is more I could have done that I no longer have the option to do.....

If you paint the inside of the engine blueish will it reflect the colour how you want?

Okay, a while back someone asked me what Chapter colours I was going to paint this beauty (possibly not on this forum)? Well I hadn't considered that far down the line but I did receive some suggestions (Again maybe not from this forum) and I have decided barring a humongous meteorite strike or some other world shattering event I shall be going with this scheme. It just appeals to me adding just the right amount of racial senile decay and a patine of war weary resignation to the inevitable and ultimate end.

Whew, that is a depressing scenario if I do say so myself.

On a more upbeat note; the engines are just about done and I'll be posting an update soon.

Dig that paint, Blood Angle Thunderhawk is boring looking. Considering switching to a Grey Knight army since it looks cooler.

Not much going on to this date I did some work on the lower portion of the engines and stated detailing the #3 engine upper half.

The biggest change is the following image which was the first taken with my new Rebel T3i Canon DSLR which Egad! is fully manual, I'm actually going to have to learn how to take pictures again. My old Kodak 290 (in the background) was having trouble extending the auto zoom lens (Getting it up as it were. ) so I guess it was time to retire it but this new camera will take some getting use to. I may have to read the manual though I did manage the image below right out of the box.
[Thumb - IMG_0001.JPG]
Hmm, slightly blurry. Anyone want a T3i cheap?

Hey I was quite satisfied with my 12 year old DC290 but I was playing Russian roulette sniping on ebay and found myself committed to buying a T3i which is a lovely camera and I'm glad I got it but it's a lot more camera than I am used to. I had a Canon SLR many years ago and I went nuts buying lenses and filters for it until I realized that film was a thing of the past. Now I understand that good quality film gives you a resolution of up to 50 meg but I'll be dead before digital reaches that quality (In my price range at least)18meg this one can do and I low-balled my bid so low I never thought I would win the bid. Well surprise surprise I got it. Now I gotta learn how to use it.

Hell I figure all the money I save on copying FW hardware I deserve a better camera.

HAHA, me too, brother, with the savings bit...

I had a Canon T-70 Manual SLR with several lenses and fliters . I may actually pull it out and use it again. I got offerd over three thousand for it and should have taken it.

Anyway, loving the update and can't wait for more.....

At first I thought; who goes from a Kodak DC290 to a Canon T3i (I've been shooting the T2i for a year now)? Then I realized only one man... The most interesting man in the world; Blackadder... You're obviously joking at it never hitting 50meg right? I mean, look at the jump in 10 years. I would wager consumer 50-100 meg cameras before 2020.

Laws of capabilites advancement suggest that it will be about 2017, maybe earlier. There is something to be said, however for 35mm film photos and 10 Meg is still not 50 so digital is still inferior......

The most interesting man in the world; Blackadder... I don't always use hand sanitizer but when I do I probably have forgotten I have a paper cut.

I don't always drink beer but when I do... gak! Who'm I kidding, I don't drink beer; a nice Newcastle Brown Ale, thats the ticket. And I don't look like a seedy scraggly bearded bindlestiff in a polyester suit either, I don't own a polyester suit. but I didn't say it would never hit 50 meg only that I haven't time to wait for that eventuality. I don't think my old camera would last 8 months let alone 8 years.

The problem with beer is you only rent it and then return it warmer.

Shake twice my friend....

Another bunch of blurry images but I figured out what I am doing wrong. I need to set the camera to Macro I just gotta find how to do that. Of course I could just read the damned manual but wheres the fun in that?

Yeah Blackadder you'll have the damned thing for 20 years and never find half of what it's capable of.

Gee I'd didn't know it could do that.

Waddaya expect from someone whose VCR flashes 12:00 all the time.

The FW version has the same mould top and bottom and the 3D version has the same mould top and bottom and fore and aft. I like the 3D version but no engine is that symmetrical so I took the best of both versions and made my bits. The top side is the FW version slightly amended and the bottom side is the 3D version very much amended.

Hey, when you are certifiable crazy what's a lost week or so.

Yeah Jabba I found the flower and the images are looking better. Still haven't taken the cellophane of the manual yet.

I like 'Newcastle' it's a sipping beverage much the same as my notorious Vodka Martini. About ten years ago I was looking for a beer substitute because really I can't drink more than a few sips of beer and I found a Belgium ale that tasted like raisins. I can't find that anywhere but it was great and it made me feel at one with the Proletariat.

Damn-me I have the greatest source of information known to man literally at my fingertips and am too stupid to avail myself of it;

2 seconds on google and here it is:

http://www.dogfish.com/brews-spirits/the-brews/year-round-brews/raison-detre.htm

Belgian raisin ale; now I just have to find a US distributor.

Raisin Ale; You'll pee just as much......... my friend......

Wow, ten days since I posted on this thread! Sorry I've been busy. For those of you that have been following my Warlord thread I have not forgotten this project but I did need to update the Warlord thread as well.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/300245.page

I ran into a snag on the engines which stymied me until I found a solution and strangely enough it was in my medicine cabinet namely the exhaust cones. While innovative the thread cones never satisfied me as a viable material. This morning while brushing my teeth infrequent as tha may be I noticed that my Shoprite mouthwash had the precise requirements for a plastic exhaust cone. So now I have a lifetime supply of cheap mouthwash (if I forgo opportunities for osculation) and three ready made exhaust cones as well

Of course you realize that the above tale is a complete fabrication; I've had this idea in my pocket for six months or more.

Confession is good for the soul.

Note the new work on the engines
