Here's a little item that should prove invaluable to the serious modeler. My son made me aware of this product and my favorite paint manufacturer (In spite of the fact that they ruined their spray cans by changing the nozzle!)
Spray on magnetic paint by Krylon:
http://www.krylon.com/products/magnetic_paint/
I'll have to get a can and test it out.
Rustoleum also makes magnetic paint that can be sprayed or brushed on and advertises that it is 3 times stronger (Than what they didn't say.) I don't care for Rustoleum because it takes too long to dry.
http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=127
but I understand the thicker the coats the stronger the attraction and ideal for rare earth magnets.

My experience with the paint brush on type is that it wouldn't be ideal with NdFeB magnets. Even once shaken it comes out like a sludge, it required several coats and obscured detail in the knockdown drywall texture I had applied.

I overcame my malaise this weekend and took up the T'hawk again. I extended the wing roots 13mm each to accommodate the larger diameter engines, cured the negative dihedral, cut out the notch to receive the lights and glued the wing engines in place. In all not a bad amount of work.

I was going to post this as a new thread under Fluff, but I figure if there is anyone who has a guess at the real world size of a Thunderhawk, it would be you (and I'm scared of starting new threads). Or at least maybe you came across it during your research? I would guess 100 feet at least.
Never mind, found it; 26.6 meters

Shanghai away I/ve got nothing to post. 28mm scale (1/64ths scale) comes out to 3/16 inch to the foot making a nekkid male figure 1 1/8 inches tall. My T'hawk hull as it is right now without the rear engine exhaust cone attached is slightly longer than 26 inches / 416/16ths or 138 and 2/3rds feet. The FW version is 19 inches long overall tail cone included translating into 101 1/3 feet by the above calculation. I can hear the millimeter-ists groaning right now! By comparison a Boeing 747 I presume the standard non-stretch version is: Basic Dimensions: Wing Span=195 ft 8 in (59.6 m) Overall Length=231 ft 10.2 in (70.6 m) Tail Height=63 ft 5 in (19.3 m) Interior Cabin Width=20 ft (6.1 m) Coincidentally a Boeing 727-200 (Stretch) series A/C is almost the same as my version of the T'hawk: Wing span 32.92m (108ft 0in), length 46.69m (153ft 2in), height 10.36m (34ft 0in). Wing area 157.9m2 (1700sq ft). Whereas a 737-200 (stretch) series A/C is almost the same as the FW version: 737-100 - Wing span 28.35m (93ft 0in), length 28.67m (94ft 0in), height 11.29m (37ft 0in). Wing area 91.1m2 (980sq ft). 737-200 - Same except for length 30.53m (100ft 2in). Neither 727 nor 737 are very big A/C by todays standards.

Truthfully I never really knew what "28 millimeter" scale was supposed to be either. In olden days before the advent of the metric system; scale was given as a ratio, i.e. 1:64 whatever units you used: inches, centimeters, cubits, etc; one of those units on the model equaled 64 units on the actual object to be modeled. That's simple. I used to build wooden ship models that were 1:96 scale in other words a one foot long model would be of a ship 96 feet long or 1/8 inch equaled a foot. I built the Frigate Constitution which was 175 feet between perpendiculars (shipbuilding speak) i.e. a 21 and 7/8ths inches long model. (That is between perpendiculars) the actual ship model hull was 204 scale feet billet head to taffrail or 25.5 inches long Now as I understand it 28mm is supposed to be equal to a figure six foot tall which translated into 1.125 inches equal about 72 inches!!!!!!!!!!! or 25.4 millimeters equals 1625.6 millimeters!!!!!!!!!!!!! or hold your breath now 1:64 ...........iiiieeeee! much too complicated! Wow, so that data I found doesn't seem close. 101-123 feet (30-37m) is what I would have guessed, 25m (82 feet) seemed too small. The longer design looks better. I think Boeing is hiring here in Oregon, maybe I should go apply. My friends Dad has worked form them in Texas for over 30 years.

28mm, especially with regards to GW"heroic scale", is mostly up to aesthetics. It just has to be made to look right, with little regard to actual function dimensions (which obviously breaks Blacks engineering brain).
Model ship building is something I considered for a while, a guy I knew had blueprints and a ship ion his living room dining table the entire time I knew him. And just the other day I was in the bookstore looking for model building books and I ended up skimming entire books dedicated to model ship building knots! That is dedication, no wonder the level of detail and qualityu from you Black.

Sorry jabba I missed your reply, yes model ship building is my first love but god help me I hate rigging. I sought to build Admiralty models which thankfully are not required to be rigged with my magnum opus the USS ship of the line Pennsylvania a Samuel Humphreys design at the time the largest warship in the world at 120 32lb cannons (That which she was designed to carry) much more than any warship had ever carried even Uestra Señora de la Santísima Trinidad 140 guns reputed to be the Largest war ship in the world until the Pennsylvania was launched. Many of the upper deck guns were of very small caliber four inch to five inch 12 to 18 pounders The USS Pensylvania carried all one caliber guns 42 pounders which far and away made her the most powerful ship in the world. The irony of the situation was the criticism of the Pennsylvania. It was said she carried her guns too low with only 3.5 feet of freeboard to the lower sill of the lower deck cannon. Well this was the case in many ships of the line including the vaunted Victory of Nelson/ Trafalgar fame. I was aboard the Victory and her lower deck guns were carried only four feet above the waterline and the weight of her broadside was less than half of the Pennsylvania Granted she was launched 30 years before the Pennsy was designed but the flaw is still apparent. The most effective Ship of the Line built by the US was the USS Ohio a Henry Eckford design an a coveted command thoughout her 60 year of life.

What can I say, I put this project on back burner while I revamped my Warlord but its not fair to ignore the followers of this thread.
I have mounted the engines on the hull and wings and am in the process of producing the intake and exhaust cowls. The center engine is lacking a bit of detail but that can be installed later
