A. It states on this image that they are 0.26Km in size.
B. That quite simply equates to 260m which is much more realistic for something with its lift capacity.
Most people can judge distance well in comparison to football pitches so a Thunderhawk is 2 & 1/2 football pitches long!
Oh and Blackadder... WOW you really are an exceptional scratch builder, do you or have you built models as commissions before?

I'm afraid you are having a bad day each one of those tiny dots is a Thunderhawk including the three in delta formation above the Hunter Destroyer in the upper left corner which is 1.3Km or 1300 meters or 4265 feet by that reckoning the Thunderhawk is 853 feet long and at that size should be visible as a tiny albeit recognizable T'hawk but if you divide that by ten you get 85.3 feet long which is in the right order of magnitude but about 16 feet too short according to other accepted calculations. If the T'hawk was over 800 feet long the the pilots that come with the model would be on the order of 60 feet tall which would make them each taller than a Warhound.
I don't do commissions because I am pathologically committed to detail so if it takes two years to make a model I really don't have the time to make more than a couple of dozen models if I live that long.
Can anyone really throw a football 300+ feet? Wow! I don't know anything about football but that is impressive.

They are also described as being much larger and more streamline than the Thunderhawk but that the T'hawk is more agile. Personally I think that the size is approaching the unplayable were you so inclined to actually play the game. I mean that if the playing piece and in reality that is what these vehicles are takes up the entire battle board then were do you go from there?

Google images 'Warhammer Stormbird', there is a lot of stuff you might find useful if you're serious about a huge aircraft like this one. Actually it's no larger than a B747-100.

There is also Heliodore's OG epic thunderhawk which is pretty awesome.
Automatically Appended Next Post: And the calculations in my image I will stand by. The t-hawks were made to be 26 meters, not 260. Obviously there are limitations due to the low resolution images I was working with and the capability of the drawing program (I laid this out without too much concern for accuracy beyond 10%, and possibly due to the smallest resolution needed to draw a mini thunderhawk, but I believe the picture to be as accurate as can be at that size.

Ahhhh yes I have seen my mistake! 26m just seems pretty small to me, a visual comparison is 2 London buses end to end (oh and the football reference was to the soccer type sorry for the neglect to the international community there lol).
Its really good that you want to make the best and most highly detailed models possible and I think due to that exact point I am sure you will always have interest in your efforts!

I've been monitoring prices, the resin ones from Russia went on sale recently, I almost bought one. I really just want one so I can use it as a template to make a fleet of three. I would be happy with a plastic t-hawk. What is that ugly bloat fly thing next to it... The stormtalon gunship. Man I really hate the look of that thing. I feel like the longer frame on yours does look better though. I just don't have the guts to tackle it without a reference. Which I guess is stupid since I can probably get proper dimensions from somewhere. I just have a hard time trusting others.

After a concentrated search I found this image also from WD I believe which shows a very pristine looking model with extremely crisp lines ( no moulded in warping) a different volcano cannon than the FW production model, no Aquila on the cockpit which I believe was moulded in. Not that I am anxious for a plastic T'hawk which renders my project moot but there seem ample evidence for the suspicion that one is forthcoming. http://i.imgur.com/XNkco1b.jpg Automatically Appended Next Post: Started on the nose gear retractable landing gear today. I want a fully movable gear that retracts and extends and there is a very limited space between the gear bay and the floor of the cargo bay. The big issue is the collapsible oleo strut which acts as a shock absorber when the aircraft lands. I lost a couple of hours sleep the past few nights coming up with a workable design.
