Subject: Atheists holding Reason Rally in Washington, D.C., this weekend
The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

As an Atheist, the only time I find religion/religious people annoying is when they want their beliefs to over-rule the constitution/laws, when they get violent, and when they get violent AND make sure everyone knows how much they hate gay people and abortion..........

Add "when they want to change reality to fit their beliefs" to that.
Like those idiots (no,I won't sugar coated, they're idiots, mental defects, stupid people; apologies out to anyone who actually suffers from a mental defect, no offense intended, but these are seriously stupid people) who keep trying to push π to be 3.

I like the way the some of the mainstream Christian Churches try to dress it up as hating homosexuality and not gays... Edit- 04/05/12 10:47 I modified/moderated part of this paragraph, as per my own judgement. --Inquisitor Ehrenstein
People can be opposed to allowing gay people to get married and not be as bad as the Westboro Baptist Church, but claiming that being gay is a sin is equivalent to inciting hatred against gays. I think there was a priest in Europe who was arrested for Volksversetzung for saying that.

The Catholic Church is what I know about; I did not want to seem as though I was singling them out. I wanted to avoid putting all Christians together.
Most of my friend's parents are Catholic BTW, so I wouldn't go on an attack.
Additionally, I am aware that the church in 40k is an exaggerated parody, and I am not attempting to compare the two.

As a discussion grows in length, the probability of a comparison to Matt Ward or Gray Knights approaches one.
Wow there's like what two or three Catholic bashing threads going now.
-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

They've been bad this week apparently atheists holding a rally really spun them up

I don't have the energy for this one, too, especially against the guy who figured out the Catholic Church is bad by comparing it to Warhammer 40k. /onlyoneman

well I wouldn't say nothing, but as far as the usually randomness that is life this week has been a riot.
atheists hold a peaceful rally.
christians blow up a clinic, they shoot up a school, Kidnap a bunch of kids, and pass laws against women (while claiming they just want to live and let live)
I know these are all individual instances, but the timing is really funny.

I've got a great sense of humor, see that stuff in that context is funny. and which classic? most of the best classics are tragedies, so there ya go, tragedies.

A) The church in 40k is an overwrought gothic parody of the medieval church and inquisition. It's not all that similar to the modern church.
B) Manchu has already directly spoken to his experience and those of people he cares about in regards to how the Catholic church in the US actually treats homosexuals. Local parishioners are not generally toeing the line with the political opinions of biships or even the pope.
C) Please bear in mind that members of Dakka are Catholic, and that while criticism is fine, thoughtless bashing or rudeness is a violation of Dakka Rule #1.
Please make your comments polite and respectful and on topic if folks want the thread to continue.

Hahaha, looking at the date great timing on that one as well
To be honest that was a complete accident - Amazingly I wasn't actually thinking about the J man, and I didn't know it was Easter*
* Curse my heathen ways! And the fact that Easter eggs have been out in the shops pretty much since Christmas also didn't help narrow down when the day of chocolate actually was.
How the hell is the 40KIOM religon anything close to modern day Religion? Honestly while I may be an Atheist, it's obvious that both sides of the argument can make incredibly stupid claims. Lets just nuke the thread please?

The biggest indicator someone is a loser is them complaining about 3d printers or piracy.
