Congrats to France. Still incredibly proud of our team of course. It's just a shame a result like this won't come around for a while since some of our important players are on the way out. To win 2 medals in 20 years in such a small country is quite the achievement.

Apparently they were Pussy Riot. You know, that radical feminist punk group that got arrested for staging a rather indecent performance on the altar of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. Guess it is back to the labour camps for them.
Really? Jesus. Hats off to those women. Brave characters.

They already stood up in 2013 - then we got Blasphemy law amendments allowing prison sentences for offencive acts. So, No, thank's.
And don't piss in church in Russia.
I like the Finals.
But I never stop wondering... what if there was no penalty... what if they played extra time... what would they do in heavy rain, and would that help Croatia?
Just a small list of things we never find out.

Brave? Definitely.
But also stupid, disrespectful and needlessly offensive. They harm their cause more than they do good. They create a toxic climate. Which is unfortunate for other liberal activists in Russia.

Congrats to france (though grudging) but much more so to Croatia. A really, really impressive campaign and they played some lovely football. I really hoped they were going to go all the way. Congrats to Russia as well, for all the BS people were talking about their ability to host this it seems like they have done so in real style and largely incident free. This has been the best World Cup that I can remember for the quality of the football and so many less favoured nations doing so well. When the tournament expands in 2026 and Oceania gets a free spot the world had better beware the mighty All Whites...

Well done to France.
And well done to Croatia for giving it their all.
I feel smug for having predicted a French victory on Page 1.
Credit to Russia for putting on a very good event.
Aside from the lack of T-34s at the opening ceremony it was a great world cup.

I dare not imagine how much Mbappe will be worth in a few years time. The form book looks like it will be re-written again.
Well done to France. A solid team effort, a strong game plan and some excellent individual efforts.
Commiserations to Croatia who were deserving runners up. Next time Belgium.. next time.

The festivities in Croatia are insane. The team has been trying to make their way to the main square for six and a half hours now, and it will probably take around an hour more for them to finally get there.

As some said - after so exemplary performance - they would rarely have to pay checks at restruants all over Croatia)
They definitely stole our hearts ay this cup.

It was reported somewhere (no idea how reliable) that there were over 500.000 people there to welcome the team home (in a country with a bit over 4 million people in total).

If would have been the least populated WC winner since Uruguay, who anyway hasn't won the world cup for almost 70 years now.

See, the honouring of the sportsmen involve - that’s when I get Football. That’s when, whilst I’ll never have an appreciation for it myself, I understand what it can mean for others.
And that’s to be celebrated. Anything which can bridge pretty much any social or racial boundaries is much needed in this world.

You do think it bridged racial boundaries ? Not in France. French themselves were arguing if africa or France won the cup, because some players were black... And the riots in Paris after the victory draw attention on the badly assimilated minorities. In 98 were would have been right, it bridged boundaries but in 2018, no. :/

Same thing seems to be the case in Germany (well, apart from winning of course ):
