Won a local tournament today, $80 store credit. So I figured I'd get a few things I wanted but wasn't willing to spend any money on.

One of those was a terminator librarian. I was honestly expecting it to be a nightmare of bubbles, because of everything I've read. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered it was bubble free!

Sure, it has lots of flash and mold lines, but I can clean those up. Very good experience with finecast so far.

Finecast is deffo a case of a silent majority... I mean, who hits the forums with 'I GOT A FLAWLESS FINECAST!'?

I've gotten four finecast models and only had issues with one; a striking scorpion exarch who had some chunks missing out of his foot. I think the anti-GW haters/people with bad experience are just too loud on the issue and have given it an unfairly bad name.

I bought a Njal Stormcaller Finecast and didn't have any problems. It was slightly annoying getting his staff glued on and there was some flash that needed to be cut away, but I didn't notice any flaws or evidence of it being miscast.

Yeah, I am a finecast spammer. I have like 20 finecast models and have had massive loads of flash, but that was easy to clean up. Otherwise they were flawless. I really like resin, much more than metal.

Yea, so far the ease of use outweighs the few bubbles. I have a metal venerable dread... hate it so much.

So far I had two flawless ones, and three abominable ones. Let me just say that while it's sad that the ones with the bubbles are hard or impossible to fix, the flawless ones are really great.

I've gathered from other people that Fineast models made with Finecast in mind (i.e. not old metal model molds) have a lesser chance of looking like it's been the targe of Squirtle's Bubblebeam. Is there any truth in this?

The Finecast overlords have a few bubbles in them, but nothing I can't fix with the liquid green stuff

My first 5 Finecast models were fine, but my last (a Deceiver) had an air bubble right on his face. GW sent a replacement, so I ended up with a free Deceiver torso with which I made the following conversion. Can't say I have anything to complain about.

All lot o see are with necrons. Know were they not the first to be releashed after finecast(correct if wrong) could it be there is a problem with sculpts designed for finecast molds rather then retooled ones?

Necrons are indeed completely new Finecasts. However just like the first wave they suffer same miscasts.

Most noticeable places:

Crpytek hood
Lord / character with capes
Pelvic areas

As well as the staff with the sphere, tons of gallery pics you can see the miscast

You're right! We should post our flawless finecast models we get, and not just the finecast fails!

Heck, in general we shouldn't just post all the bad stuff we see, we should talk more about the good stuff!

Then maybe people wont fear the internet so...

Not to burst your bubble as I like finecast too but... I'm building a Nid army right now and not using metal at all in it. while most of the models I have bought have had few problems (superfical bubbels that were easily fixed/ flash and mold lines) but I also have had sevral bubbles obscuring detal, missing small spickes/horns/claws, and once even a missing head/face on a hive gaurd. while its quickly replaced by GW (with another model I need to do miner fixes to) its a hassel and some of the models that needed to be fixed are 25-60$. It is what it is and I like working with the material but the perfect ones (not including the one the OP has) are far and few between. So I think its a great to talk about and I encourage some one to post thier "perfect finecast", I would like to see it.

And I've had over 300 metal models from GW over 15 years with a single bad defect... making your 25% Finemiscast rate 75x greater than my metal experience. 1 in 4 is NOT a tribute to GW quality control. If you had a 1 in 4 chance of buying moldy bread from the grocery store, would you praise that product?

I have just recently bought my first finecast product: a box of Plaguemarines.

I really didn't "expect" much from the box, so i just tore into it and went to work. There were a couple places where there were broken bubbles and whatnot, but for me I thought "hey, theyre plague marines, so it really works"

Yeah, I don't really see what all the fuss has been about. Though, I am sure that I will find out maybe this next week when the last 2 boxes I ordered show up along with Typhus (which i am pretty sure is still metal)

I brought a DE Lhamaean a while back for use in my VC army and i was pleasently suprized to find not a single air bubble anywhere. Not even on the sprue. It didnt have much flash either, although i did slice of the dripping fluid on the sword before reaslising what it was.

So for now im quite happy with my finecast too. I do prefer a bit of weight to by models though which is why i like the metal. But i could learn to like finecast.

I've tidied up a couple of finecast miniatures for people (neither have been for me) and they've been fine, a couple of air bubbles but nothing major.

However, the only reason they had no problems was because I went though the rack of them and selected the ones that weren't hideously disfigured. I live in hope that in a few years they'll figure out what they're doing and you won't have to do that.

If it was darn good bread I'd ever eaten that the manufacturer would replace no problem? Sure. I'd wager if I bought more finecast it'd be more than a 25% success rate. I just don't buy much new stuff anymore.

At the end of the day I find a decent finecast model infinitely preferable to metal; no paint scraping off and not heavy.
