Do people take sniper rifles in their IG army much?

Im thinking they would be good to have for pinning, if they actually hit.

I personally like them, but only take them for like a CCS or PCS or maybe a veteran squad. That way, they are BS4

Pinning is practically useless, with the number of fearless and LD 10 units out there.

As a general rule, scouts are not going to do much in a game. (My Squad of 5 maybe kills 2 models all game, but usually opponents avoid shooting at them and they claim an objective)

Scouts with stealth are nice for holding objectives close to your own deployment zone though.

Yeah from what Iv seen of people using scouts and such, they are a little dissapointing.

Snipers are fun to use, but, use for more of the rending than anything. Leadership 10 is way to common for pinning to be of any effect.

Its a bit dissapointing, being able to pin down enemies so the rank and file can have some shots before they are stuck in combat would be useful.

Sniper rifles are more useful with a PBS unit to lower the target's Ld.

They (the pinning aspect) are still useless against fearless units, but the rending ability means you can at least kill some of them.

I use vets with 3 snipers and a las. You use bring it down on monsterous or tanks/transports and you can wreck quite a bit.

It's good against some of the high toughness armies, especially since they are FIVE points a piece.

If the 6th edition rules leak is legit I could see them getting pretty popular.

Unless you are an Eldar Pathfinder, stay away from sniper rifles.

Yeah, depending on how things actually wind up, they will either continue to be utterly worthless, or they'll be gods incarnate against foot lists.

Making sniper rifles decent, but not overpowered is really easy. Let's hope GW can figure out one of the dozens of ways to do that...

Ratlings are snipers. Fairly expensive points wise.

Frankly i think theyre fething ugly model and need to be replaced with a proper human sniper team. I like the cadian sniper models but they dont fit in.

I think I would just not use the ratling models and use some guard with sniper rifles and cloaks.

Think anyone would have a problem with using those instead of the little hobbits?
