Whenever I finish a huge project, I just want to unwind and make fun stuff. I just finished my massive Great Gargant, so I'm gonna let it look cool in the corner for a while before I finish his factory.

In the mean time, I'm gonna catch up on some old projects, re-build a few things, and make some tanks!
Normally, I'm very disciplined when it comes to a project. I choose something to build, build it, paint it, then choose another. Not in this thread! I'm gonna hop from project to project, working on whatever I want all willy-nilly. I will try and restrict the model choices to Battlewagons, Looted Wagons and Trukks, but no promises. (I got a few buggies I wanna make, and some bikes.)

I'll also stop working on these things whenever I feel like switching back to terrain. everything in this thread is all guilty pleasures. I need none of it for my army, except a few Battlewagons. The good news to that end is it's all stuff I want to build, so it should come out pretty cool.

On with the pictures!

First, lets take a look at some of the projects I'll be working on, in their various states.

The big thing I want is more Battlewagons. I have a MK1 Battlewagon, a MK1 Landraider, a Gobsmasha I made from templates published in WD (with a few tweaks,) and an old monowheel.
I used to field the Monowheels as Trukks, I have six. (one rebuilt, and five like the one pictured.) Due to their size, I've decided to make them Battlewagons. (which is also why I now need trukks!)

Next up is a beach vollyball team of Looted Wagons. I love me some looted vehicles, I really want a Tanker mob or two for my Apocalypse force. (I have six Looted Wagons currently.) I have on the chopping block a looted Wave Serpent and Ruzzbot that already have a lot of work done on them, along with a few regular looted tanks.

Next is a giant Badmoons Ruzzbot, built off a Landraider chassis. I dropped it.

Lastly, I have a few of the new and old Trukk kits. Here they are being worked on. (I also started digging out bits for the other tanks on the chopping block.)

So thats what I started with! I started on the Trukks. This is the first time I've worked on the new Ork Trukk, or even seen one in person. (I live in a swamp.) I love this kit, I want ten! I also managed to pimp out one of the older Trukks.

The Trukk is a standard, no frills assembly. I really like to build it right the first time, so I can see how all the parts are supposed to interact. Even then I managed to accidentally glue a few pieces on backwards! I have one more to build, but it's missing a ton of pieces. (sacrificed to the Blasta-Bomma.) I got mad plans for it.

Here's a few more pics of the old one.

While they were getting primed, I started on the MK1 Battlewagon. It is missing a lot of parts, so I spent most of the evening making wheel plates for it. Because I already have one with (almost) all the parts and built correctly, I decided to make this one a dragster. I'm not gonna go too extreme, I still like the older models to look like they could have been fielded from there era. I do have twenty of the original Ork plastic boyz done up in Evil Sunz colors, so a dragster with bright red flames would be a great ride for them.

Ok, Y'all know the drill. bitch, throw tomatoes, make insightful suggestions, ask questions, or give a polite compliment!

What do you mean "poor Wave Serpent?" I'm gonna make it non-pansy. gonna give it proper engines and good Dakka.

I'll do that later, right now I'm making a Battlewagon!

I mounted the front wheels, started the running boards, and threw on some headlights.

Next I built up the front engine and gun housing and finished the base of the running boards.

Next I threw some clay on the running boards to curve them down a hair, added me some Dakka, and threw on a mortar.

Moving to the rear engine now, I built a blower and started sculpting the piping for it. (the little disks with wire on the black plastic are the blower caps.)

Lookin' mean so far!

I primed the two Trukks and dry brushed them with metal. I then gave them a salt bath, but the water was too thick. I'm still waiting for them to dry so I can airbrush the base coats on them. I should get to that tonight/early tomorrow, so hopefully they'll be finished soon.

I also pulled apart the MK1 Landraider, and readied the Wave Serpent for building.

Ah, this should be fun! Nice work on the trukks and the wagon so far, nice cowling on the front of the wagon

Looking forward to the updating of the mono-wheels - I'll be looking to loot ideas for my own mono-wheel concepts, although the plans are closer to your older versions.

Loot away! I'm still thinking on how to modify the rest of them. I figure I'll make the other Battlewagons I got first, then fill the gaps with some variants I don't have yet.

Yeah! get crackin'! I can't believe I'm only now making more Battlewagons. Previous to this thread, I only had one and it's only upgrade is a lobba.

It should spiral down the rabbit hole into crazytown eventually, all these projects seem to.

UPDATE TIME!

I got the first two Trukks salted and base coated. they looked funny before I washed the salt off, so I snapped a picture. I got me some American politico Trukks! (At least until they get occupied by Grots!)

I'm painting them today, they should be finished by tonight.

On the Battlewagon, I added the rear engine, finished the running boards, and added a crow's nest and ship masts.

The rear engine still needs a lot of detail, but I was pretty happy with how the blower came out.

I also added a bit more detail to the front engine. It still needs exhaust pipes.

I had to sand and file the running boards for about an hour to get them nice and smooth.

I'm hoping to have it primed by tonight, we will see if I can get all that done. I was hoping to be hopping around different projects a bit more, but the Battlewagon is just so much fun to work on!

Yeah, these are all about fun. I think I might even mix in some Skorchas!

Arakasi wrote:Battlewagon is coming along nicely!

Yup. after the last round of super sanding though, I had to take a little break.

UPDATE!

I decided not to rush the looted Wave Serpent. I've seen a lot of poorly executed looted eldar stuff, and I want to make sure I don't fall into that pit. I also have a few Dark Eldar Raiders, so I'm gonna do a trio of Apocalypse gun ships. I'm doing the designs over the next week, I should start them by next weekend. (Barring the winds of change shifting again!)

While I was thinking, I built two "standard" looted tanks.

First, a poorly-basecoated Blood Axe Tank.

Second, a ghostly-basecoated Deff Skulls Tank.

I also got the Trukks painted, save for small details like the drivers and the gunners.

I'm rolling through the Looted Wagons, I gotta paint these two and make two more, then I'll have a full ten-tank Tanker Mob.

Sorry it's been a while I posted, I've been busy. (Busy with Dark Souls, that is. Good gravy thats a mighty fine game.)

I got the trukks finished!

First up is the old school Trukk. I'm pretty happy with how it came out. The boys it will be transporting in game are from 1988, so they are actually to scale with the vehicle! I have some Ork from Gorka-Morka that will also work, but I haven't gotten around to modeling and painting them yet, so the tiny guys from the eighties will use the trukk till the proper era Orks can loot it back from them.

Second, I got a stock new Trukk. I try and assemble the kits the printed way the first time, so I can see all the little things the designers intended. I only changed a small thing, but that was on accident. (The sidewalls were glued on backwards, making the rear roll bar in the wrong place.)

I love this model, I have plans for at least four more. easily one of the best kits GW has ever made. Not only does it look really good stock, all the components are easily moved and changed. (the engine is one piece, the drive train one piece, etc.) Hell, even the cab is built so you can put the driver and gunner on either side. (you know, so Orks from New York or London don't get confused.)

Lastly, I got some work done on the last two vehicles needed for my Tanker Mob.

Thanks for looking!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I got the two tanks done.

First up, some Blood Axe action.

The last picture is my favorite. I imagine none of the comm equipment works, he's just making noises into the mic and looking trough a dead range finder.

Next, I got some Deathskull looted action.

No more progress on my next batch of tanks. I think I'm gonna finish the old Battlewagon and the last two tanks needed for the tanker mob, then go back to making terrain. Thanks for looking!

Nice selection of v-hickles there. Love the old-skool trukk for old-skool boyz

Ruzzbot's looking pretty cool, and the two painted tanks look great, great colour contrast on the deathskull.

Cool update
