Soooo I used to be a"dating only one gal at a time" sorta lad. Recently this has gone by the wayside and I've begun to really branch out in my dating...exploits. The more I see new women the more I begin to wonder when to show them or explain to them my hobby. I've had serious relationships where I have shownmy partner just snippets or glances and I in no way hide these things, I just don't have them all over my walls. When do you guys show or explain you're hobby to you're women/men/SO?
If so, how do you?

I have Warhammer 40k For Life tattooed on my Johnson, so they usually see it on the first date and ask...
the ladies I've dated recently have all asked me what I do for fun. Gaming with friends is one of my answers, in addition to my other hobbies.
If they ask for specifics, I tell them I play a miniatures war game. "Kind of like chess, but with a heavier rule book."

I sort of think never. I quit WHFB for one girl (she thought it was extremely childish of me), and russ-things. Of course my return was with WH40k, but still I think most girls think of guys who paint and argue about plastic and metal dudes at a table as silly at best.

leave some models that are in progress out for her to see, when she asks what it is say "modelling, it's my hobby" if they ask further questions then explain that there is a game connected to them. Most people are accepting of a modelling hobby.

I guess it's really up to you when you show them, there's no special time that you HAVE to tell them, just when you feel comfortable doing so, I suggest during sex, I mean when else are you going to be more comfortable

Dating multiple women at once...well, it's your funeral.
Honestly, you won't ever ask yourself that question. You'll just tell her what it is you do, there isn't a waypoint or something you achieve before you spill the beans about how you play with little, plastic men.
That being said, I invited my wife to a tourney during the first week we were dating.

During intercorse. nothing says you're a man with no fear mentioning how many wee soldiers you have during your hammer time.
for extra points mentioning how the space marines are also the hammer of the imperium to the imperial guard anvil and referencing it to your intercorse is golden.

After they just watched all 3 LOTR movies, segue into the models, and then when they realize how silly (well I hope that stage will come soon) LOTR is (thats just my view, don't eat me internets), I can slide her over into fantasy. Doubt she'll ever be into 40k. Too dark...grimdark...

I'd say, just because of the truthful strangeness of our hobby (Let's be serious, it's strange. We're men playing with, building, and painting toys; at least that's what outsiders see.) that you wait until you get serious with the other to the point that they won't judge you over one little quirk. I waited until it got serious, "let" my girlfriend walk in on me building a squad of Elysians, and the explanation came from there. She was quite accepting, if a little shocked, (I'm an athlete/frat-boy, so she didn't quite expect a quirk like this) but she warmed to it after realizing how serious I was about it.
I disagree with the "Only if she's a nerdy-girl" statement, respectively. My girl is a preppy girly-girl and she's totally cool with me playing/modeling. Sure, she makes fun of how much time and money I spend on it but she even bought me some really nice brushes and a bunch of paints for Christmas.

My now ex (buy the woman a house and find her with snother guy she just met that day online in a hotel) painted and drew all the time. So she had me buy her Nids, because she would sit around and paint them all the time. Didnt want to play, but liked to paint them. She also called Grots "Poor Babies" asked if she could have some as pets, and wanted to know why Orks were so mean to such sweet things. (that should have been a clue)
But then she was also with me after the break up and I got the two headed Aquila tattooed on my shoulder.
I should up load the pic of my tat someday...maybe not so much the fetish pictures i took of her when she was doing that "Pay Cam Site" thing.

This is a crucial point. My girlfriend and I have actually had fights over 40k *in the past* becaus to me it comes down to a matter of personal freedom and enjoyment. She has eased up though, she can tell I really enjoy it and she is much more accepting of it. I just try to minimize my 40k activity while she is also home. But I do my best to conceal all matters of cost to her, she has a real problem with me blowing too much money. She actually liked the colors of the orks, so I bought her a little ork with a big shoota so that she could paint it, she swears to the day that she is going to finish "suzie". Like everything in a relationship it comes down to compromise.
But if they aren't accepting, then I might I suggest that she is not a good choice for you.
I like one of the earlier posts about Chess with a heavier rulebook, that's a good way of putting it.

This is not a great idea, in the long run.

This is true. If it's important to you, and they aren't accepting, then you should probably just move on.

Real Response:
I'm shocked by the number of people afraid to open up about what they enjoy doing in their spare time. I've got a fair amount of stuff laying around my house. Every girl I have ever dated has known about my hobby and only one really thought it was strange. The wife thinks it's cute I have a hobby and she knew about from day 1.
Seriously, if you're dating around why are you at your house anyway? It's way harder to sneak away in the wee hours....

If you are trying to get laid, i would say don't tell them you like to paint little men. All the experience i have with nerd girls, is that they will end up cheating on you and leaving you with no money or models.
Personally the dreadsoc is your best route. After hitting them, they will ask what the hell was that, and you can just say "I play with mostly plastic men in my free time" Hit her again and yell "I WANT TO PLAY WITH ALL PLASTIC MEN BUT GAMES WORK SHOP NEEDS TO MAKE NEW MODELS"
If you tell her that you play these games, Don't tell her how much money you are spending. She will get mad, you spend about 100 bucks for a couple of models and are happy about it, and feed her ramen noodles for dinner because you just spent your pay check. Treat this whole thing like you are smoking crack, When is a good time to tell your wife or GF that you have been smoking crack and you enjoy it. Its just about the same thing. Besides the fact that if we did smoke crack we wouldn't get mad about rules.
