What do people use for spirit hosts for VC?

Mainly wondering about models apart from the ones GW has because they are a bit bopring and dated.

The Ghosts on the Coven throne would be cool to use, but its also probably a bit of an expensive option.

Dark Eldar- 1500pts Completed
Grey Knights- 1500pts 1 Guy done
Chaos Daemons- Approx 5000pts
Slaanesh Daemons- 1500pts, in progress
Khorne Daemons- 1500pts, in progress
Death Korps of Krieg- Plans being formulated.
---------------------------------------------------
High Elves- Approx 2000pts
Vampire Counts- Raising the dead once more

Yeh, just paint them like ghosts and it should be good enough.

Any humanoid miniature with a ghost paint job should work.

The Tick: Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you've got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception.

Pick up a box of Army of the Dead from the Lord of the Rings range. The scale is a tad off but it works well enough. You can stick three on a base and the box will make you 3 bases for a couple more quid than ONE finecast base. This is what I did. I've also seen people use Zombies or Skeletons and just give them a ghostly paint scheme.

Just any models with out-streched hands or flowing robes painted like ghosts.

I remember seeing something about a guy who got some models from the same army as he usually played against, painted them as ghosts just to poke fun .

Might look into the Lotr stuff.

Wanted to try and avoid just painting stuff to look like ghosts but I might have to.

Gathering the Informations.

Honestly, for Spirit Hosts I've been considering using bits of cheesecloth mounted on toothpicks and the appropriately sized bases.

Ghosts supposedly manifest in a huge amount of forms. Why not go classic with the whole "person in a sheet" motif for a lark?

I see a lot of players use empire models painted in a ghostly manner.

I am quite entertained by the GW spirit host models. It looks like its a heck of a party in the tortured afterworld! Hey! Ho!

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

I quite dislike the official 'bed-sheet with holes for eyes ones', I made my own from old and new Empire Flagellants (paint job is not very good, but to give you some idea)

For people recommending the LOTR army of the dead box, realize that they've recently halved the amount of models in the box (only makes 10 now). I don't think there was a price drop with it either. So that well is tapped out.

I favour spirit hosts from several different armies. Get the right size base and any models that will fit on it and then paint them as ghosts. I have 7 bases of empire free companies looking like pirates, 1 base of chaos warriors, one base of a single troll and one base of 2 elven knights in my army.

My secret fortress at the base of the volcano!

I use the older metal Brettonian Men at Arms with spears... three to a base, with one in front and two at the back. Then I paint them up suitably ghostly. It helps that I'm running a Brettonian VC army, so they look really good with the other Brettonain models I use.

Emperor's Eagles (undergoing Chapter reorganization)
Caledonian 95th (undergoing regimental reorganization)
Thousands Sons (undergoing Warband re--- wait, are any of my 40K armies playable?)
