Hi there,
I've enjoyed casually painting for a few years, and I've always had one issue with eyes.
I can never get them to turn out correctly, they appear too patchy, or they don't *pop* out, I get smearing issues
I atm use a sewing pin with paint of choice to try and deal with my necron eyes, after priming the model chaos black.
So I suppose, how do you deal with eyes? (necrons)
Thanks!

I use a tweezer and pluck out one of my eyelashes for the brush.
In all seriousness, I would say get a wooden toothpick, chew it up a bit, pull off a lengthy (but thin) splinter, and use that as your brush. Then, work your way from darkest color to lightest color, maybe add a small amount of green wash to make it blend, and then use some gloss varnish to make it shine. That would be my best guess (I haven't painted Necrons, but I have painted the dots of eyes before with this method.) It should be moderately simple. Automatically Appended Next Post: This method WILL take some practice, so be ready to start over if you need to.

Buy a good quality detail brush (00 or 000), the tiny brushes dont cost much, even from the most expensive ranges. Makes life a lot easier!

Have you considered Pigma pens or something similar?

paint the eye however you can, than paint away all your mistakes. it the case of necron eyes, paint the eye than paint the metal around it instead of painting the metal and than trying to get into the eye hole

Great suggestions all around. Thank you everyone. Sounds like a smaller brush, some blending, and being ready to paint over any mistakes will work just fine

I use a very small detail brush and go back and touch up mistakes if needed.
Its easier to fill the area with colour then touch up the area around the eye.
