First boxes are appearing on ebay for 400€... and getting sold.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Wasn't there supposed to be only 5 players for SOB in the world At least that number kept popping up on dakkadakka ;-)

Now if only GW hadn't listened to those people when deciding on the amount of boxes to make!
Though there is probably a reasonable difference between the number of people who were SoB players, and those that will be...

Glad to hear the North American release wasn't quite as bad as the 10am GMT one (i.e. no reported website crashes and slightly more time for people to actually purchase the box).

I'm not sure about this release since I didn't try to change the quantity, but most of the limited releases have been 1 per customer.

The best part, people is buying PREORDERS in the hope that the original buyer will receive his/her box.

So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Wait, I don't understand.
Are they paying twice, once for the Ebay copy and once for the GW pre-order? If so, that's just dumb.

I think he means people are buying someone elses pre order, but there isn't any sure guarantee those orders will be fulfilled.

I didn't get the box, though I didn't try. Too much money for me to spend right now. And I have no desire to pay for the limited edition codex. It looks like I don't be getting any sisters until their actual release early next year.

It was direct from GW, but some other sellers were ignoring that.

If that's the case, direct your blame to the retailers. GW should be limiting it to 1 per address if they're having a lot of scalpers create multiple accounts, but once they ship stock to retailers, they can't really control that stock.

As i been told it's been a major feth up from GW retail. some FLGS has been able to preorder boxes since midweek and get some copies secured before whilesome official GW stores wasn't even able to get a single copy.

Because it's make sense to sell a large ammount at discount to secondary sellers than sell those in your stores for even increased profit..

Well, if they wouldn't send a considerable amount to retailers they would get flak as well. You know, like 'forcing the customers to buy at their overpriced Mail Order and GW stores'.

My local GW store will not know their allocation of copies, if any, until Monday. Seems really daft to not have allocated stock for their stores, based on sales, prior to the preorder today. Increasingly encouraging people into stores and in turn getting additional or impulse buys is difficult, these boxes may have been a way to promote that. But all round this release seems to have been a way for GW to flush potential revenue down the drain.

They're not secured until they're delivered to the store - one of my FLGS had their 'secured' pre-order dropped to one box (and they're not sure if that will actually arrive).

I suspect this is because this is when FLGS can get a copy, GW stores have their allocation and the some element of the world wide excess. So until Monday (or more factually, 10:15AM local time) they didn't know how many they would have available.
In some ways I can see why you'd do this - much less likely to get internet scalpers if you have to physically turn up and it's easier to limit things to one per person.

Last chance at getting an army set is to turn up at your local store. Thinking back now, we had to do this for the original 3rd ed Tyranid Army box after Mail Order and the local GW ran out - the GW Portsmouth guys told us that Southampton still had a box left,

I'm wondering why this is set up as a 2-week preorder if they ran out of stock in 30 minutes. What are they going to do next Saturday?

Count their money.

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

GW has a fixed number of boxes to produce which means they ordered X amount of cardstock and books from China. The 2 week window is basically giving them an extra week of casting time to cast enough plastic to then pack and ship all that product in one big order at the end. It also gives them a buffer in case they didn't sell out. Despite what customers say they will do and will buy its not until its actually for sale that a company realises if its all hot air or not. Don't forget we've still got Wrath and Rapture up for sale with no sign of it going anywhere any time soon

Congrats for SOB players for beautiful revamp. Certainly after the wait well deserved.

To be honest I still don’t think there are a huge number of sisters players compared to other armies, it’s just what we’re seeong here is when every single person who has been remotely interested in sisters for the past 25 years is trying to buy a box. GW have been marketing them for months and this is the first real release in such a long time it was guaranteed to catch a huge portion of the sisters fans, while releases for other armies I’m sure you get players who collect those armies who aren’t immediately going to jump on every single release.

It’s funny that GW for once spent a lot of time marketing an army, way more than any other army, only to have minutes worth of stock. How can a company be so disconnected from the volume of sales they are likely going to get, lol. I know there’s more coming out later, but it’s always best to strike while the iron is hot instead of letting people wait to decide they don’t actually want it as much as they thought they did.

Don't think so. Everything I've ever heard from folks in games and distribution says these things come on the slow boats. They would've started moving into the distribution chain 2-3 weeks ago minimum, to hit a sales date at the end of the month. Especially the end of _this_ month.

They certainly aren't spending today tallying preorders for new casts.

Maybe the Christmas box sets. In regard to my last post I should have done more research. I didn’t know that this will be in the stores the day after Thanksgiving.
