It's not so much the "dorky" look as much as it is the "low-quality crappy sculpt that's the worst sculpt that GW has ever done" bit.

Well, I get that you don't like it, but with that you can't be taken serious.
You're in the overwhelming minority with this, at least on Dakka, given the overwhelming majority of times the topic has come up she's listed as the worst, or tied for the worst, including when it was polled. You can like a gakky model all you want, but don't pretend it's anything other than gakky. I like a lot of the old squig and grot minis, including the absolutely ancient ones, but I'll admit they're pretty bad and just have a kind of charm to them. And this one really is bad, and the majority of players will never be able to paint it to make up for its deficiencies. Even pros have problems with that. Almost nobody bought one, and almost nobody who bought one wants to show it off because it's just so bad.

I'm not in the "overwhelming minority" when it comes to name the "worst sculpt ever made by GW" - even on Dakka (whatever this means). That's absurd. I take it some people don't like it with a passion. But they shouldn't think they're a majority, that's delusional. And try to find pro-painted pics of all the other examples I gave.

Hands up - who else despises Seraphim/Zephyrim E and everything she stands for?

I swear someone evil designed that model. I'm almost convinced it was the single reason why GW said for years that they couldn't produce plastic SOB miniatures because the designs were too complicated.

There has go to be an easier way to split that particular figure into multiple parts for assembly! XD

Columbus, Oh

Question about the Arcoflagellant kit, for anyone who has experience with it.

Are there enough heads and arms to maybe kitbash some additional models worth out of misc non-GW figures?

I have the arcos from the box set, which I believe are different models than in the box, but with the actual box I get to 13 figs.. and if I can eke out 2-4 more models that would be grand

2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

Order of St Ursula (Sisters of Battle): W-2, L-1, T-1
Get of Freki (Space Wolves): W-3, L-1, T-1
Hive Fleet Portentosa (Nids/Stealers): W-6, L-4, T-0
Omega Marines (vanilla Space Marine): W-1, L-6, T-2
Waagh Magshak (Orks): W-4, L-0, T-1

Just got 'em yesterday as it happens.

The set contains a single duplicated sprue, each sprue having 5 bodies, 10 unique pairs of arms and 10 different faces (like the duplicated Arco in the starter set, the head is split in two, with the front part being separate). So, after building the figures in the set, you will have one copy of each of those faces and arms left over. Grafting the half heads onto other models shouldn't be too difficult especially for those wearing hoods, as any gaps are easy to cover up. There aren't really any other leftover bits, though there is one extra row of chemical injectors (meant for the Endurant) which could be added to other models, and some of the leftover arms have tubes/cables that could be added to the back of the converted models' heads to replicate the Arco look.

Just realised it's actually the only infantry set with a duplicated sprue in the Sororitas range. As guessed from sprue pictures earlier, every Repentia torso does indeed have not only a choice of arms, but also a choice of two heads (18 different Repentia and 2 Superior heads in total in the kit). The ones with hoods may work for Arco-flagellants too actually.

I apologize if this is not news, but I just saw this: https://www.games-workshop.com/en-WW/Tariana-Palos-MTO-2020

Nice enough model, but it doesn't look like it's worth $35 to me considering she's mostly just a standard sister in a different pose? I'm not even seeing any decoration on her bolter which is kind of a focal point on the model (and the paint job isn't doing too much for that bolter either).

It’s a recreation of a classic artwork, the same way Canoness Veridiyan and Sister Amalia were. Also, most of the ‘limited’/event exclusives have been random low level peeps in unique poses.

I'd warn against preordering her TBH.

Like a lot of companies, GW is currently in "get the customer to throw money at us so we can stay alive, no matter what it takes" mode.

Unless you're knowingly making a donation for which you expect nothing in return, never give money to somebody when they are going through a crisis. Not during a personal one, and certainly not during a global one.

You will not be able to hold the recepient to account if you do not receive what was promised in return for your payment. Not in a moral sense, or a legal one. They will always be able to use the crisis as an excuse (whether it's actually true or not) to fail at holding up their part of the deal.

All GW has to say in October is "sorry everyone, but this has been a year of unprecedented challenges and therefore we cannot provide those models or refund you the money you paid" and that will be the end of it.

For all we know, GW might not even exist in October. Same goes for every other business begging for money via long term preorder "deals". Don't fall for this behaviour unless you are knowingly tossing money at companies simply in the hope that your support keeps them afloat.

Congratulations on making claims that are almost as good as "I advise against pre-ordering a model because we could be facing the impending collapse of capitalism by the end of the year."

Seriously.

It's a Made to Order release, it's just that unlike previous ones it isn't a discontinued pewter model but rather a model made for events that were cancelled because of covid.

Unlike Veridyan or Amalia, she won't be available for general purchase later.

This is a special sort of trolling. Do we have a name for it yet? It's like ultra concern trolling.

Bravo. You seemed to also have roped in a few dudes who didn't realize you were joking.

The only complaint I really have, beyond the shipping thing I already complained about in another thread, is the bolter. I think it's one of the best character models they have ever done, but the bolter sure does look... plain.

I know they are recreating a piece of 2d art, but I wish they had punched it up a little. I hope the other side at least has a fleur on it.

Still a tremendous model.

Character? It's not canoness. Canoness doesn't even have bolter. That's illegal loadout for canoness...

Basically basic sister, suboptimal superior(chainsword lacking) or celestian.

Not a Canoness.

From GW website:

Model name - Sister Tariana Palos
Description - She can be used as a (highly decorated) Battle Sister, Sister Superior, or even a Celestian.

as for GW doing this to keep some money rolling in during covid 19... I'd think that was obvious.
and yeah if GW closes up as a result of this they won't fofill the orders but let's face it, everyone's doing it to one degree or another. and if GW closes as a result of covid 19 the industry aftershocks would be HUUUGE

Forget the Industry - GW itself is one of the more healthy major companies in the country in general; if GW falls down the pan and dies then the UK would likely be in the grips of an absolute and utter economic collapse. That is unless GW has faked all their numbers for years and years. GW has a lot of assets they can strip in an emergency even down to cutting all their stores and staff from stores if they needed to make huge savings. They could cut back to fully online and 3rd party supply only and still remain afloat.

I fully agree. She’s weathered and decorated, with a factory fresh gun.

But could you ask for an easier pose to do a weapon swap? Want a fancy bolter? Go for it. Combi weapon? Pistol? Clip away!

Indeed, if the GW collapses I'll likely have bigger issues fighting Ken from number 32 in a feral blood match to the death over the last four pack of bog roll to be looted from Sainsburys than worrying about the fact I would have to do a chargeback on my credit card for not receiving something I pre-ordered for £22.

Isnt dark heresy rpg? I don't use minis for rpg's. If game is cumbersome enough rules that it basically requires miniatures then that's not RPG for me. RPG's aren't hex tiled wargames for me.

Pass for me. Pretty model sure but no real use for it and with shipping too expensive to be worth it. If I could order something else usefull for free shipping might get it but 40e(25% of that being shipping) for once fancier r&f sister is bit too much even to break the clone trooper syndrome sisters suffer.

Don't have spare left arm with chainsword either to get at least fancy superior.

Nice model. Let's see the price tag... Oh, okay never mind, GW. I will stick with companies who have more reasonable prices.

If you check the details picture on GW's website, you can see that there is a fleur-de-lis on the not visible right side of the bolter, where some symbol is on most of the Sisters bolters.

Sidenote: Anyone notice that Seraphim have right and left pistols? Symbol on the inside, with bolt eject ports (or other details) on the outside.

For sure. I think if you tilt her wrist a little, you could even swap in a sword or chainsword and it would work great with that pose.

Hey, uh, kind of a general Sororitas question.

Why is she covered in purity seals but none of the other new SOB are? Is there anything wrong with adding them to the ones I am about to build?

I’ve just got the big box, and not the individual kits, but it looks like a bit over half the sisters have at least one seal stuck on them. Not as over the top as the new gal, but they got someone’s seal of approval.

I just had an awful daydream of an alternate reality where this model and this model alone was the long awaited Sisters of Battle release.
