If it's metal, then you can get better than nail varnish remover. It will strip paint off metal in seconds.

Or acetone - it's even stronger.

Grab yourself some fairy power spray £4 ish for a big spray bottle,
but dont spray it on your mini, pour it out into an old tin can
and leave the model to soak over night and brush off the paint with an old tooth brush

acetone IS nail polish remover. If you don't care about the plastic base, it's by far the best.

The base isn't painted. However any side effected would be bad. Such as a melted base?

Acetone will melt plastic.

Honestly, just get a new base and use acetone. It's the best for metal.

Hm. Ok. Where would I be able to find that?

In case I can't get hold of it, would white spirits work?

Isopropyl alcohol. Give ot about 6 hours, then use the toothbrush of someone you hate to brush off the paint sludge.

You could also leave it in detol for a few hours, worked fine for me

I recommend simple green. It works great on metals (and plastics too) and leaves your models smelling nice

working on tau
and working on steel legion
and I freakin LOVE khorne!

Its metal. You could get the paint off with a lighter.

I use super clean, so far and its worked great on plastic and metal and does a great job of removing paint and will even break down super glue given enough time.
I have not tested this with resin or "fine cast" yet. But i got some old bretonians with really thick primer and multiple coats of paint and this stuff removed it all no problem. ( after about a 3-4 days of soaking)
You should be sure to use gloves with this stuff, i am not sure if its toxic but it will suck all the moisture out of your skin and make you look like a mummy!
I've had some issue's with green stuff making plastic soft and it was very easy to smoosh edges and lose detail. Also i cant stand the smell of green stuff and some of my models still smell like that gak....lol
Acetone seems a bit extreme for a first attempt if you can't get the paint off with off with other solutions, then yah go for acetone.

I bought mine at the local Menards can't seem to find many of the 1 gallon bottles on the web.
Walmart also has its own brand called purple power there's a comparison here

That's great advice except he is from the UK and we have neither Walmarts nor Purple Power.

Seriously, Dettol and all that are fine for plastic but this is a metal miniature - stop faffing about dunking it in Fairy Power Spray or Dettol for hours, go to Superdrug and buy some nail varnish remover (you can get both acetone and acetone free - they work just as well) and pour it in a little bowl. Dip the mini in, watch the paint slough off and scrub lightly with an old toothbrush. It takes 30 seconds and costs £1

Yeah, I think I'll go with the nail varnish remover/acetone. Cheap, simple procedure, and I have an old toothbrush on standby already for washing my new FW models. I think wash the resin before paint stripping is a good idea though.

Thanks for all the replies Dakka! Very helpful.
