out of all the armys in 40k what do you belive are the best 2v2 teams to put on for 2000 points per person

so far i think

daemons
and
tau

blood angels
and
chaos

space marines (any)
and
ig

sisters of battle
and
grey knights

(from what ive seen not played as)

what about you what do you think, know, or might be a good 2v2 team

Dark Eldar and Eldar.

Seer council can prove to be a real threat and soak up a lot of firepower. Plus I think 2k points are about where we both get all the good stuff into one list. Or double IG and field 18 Leman Russ tanks

Guard and Dark Eldar? The Imperial Guard bunkers up and shoots stuff, while the Dark Eldar assault troops go hunting for the stuff the Guard can't reach. Possibly leaving some Grotesques/Wracks behind to stall enemy assaults.

Are there any rules for sharing bonuses?

I'd consider making use of the turns necron armies can buy you with night fighting.

Dark eldar and Necrons sound really terrifying.

any idea of bonouses that would work? would a wagh work for orks and say ig?

I've personally played matches like these with BT and guard (2 guard players actually) bringing 2000 each v. a DE and Eldar player bringing 3000 each and a 1500 each with BT and GK vs Chaos Marines and Eldar.

What I would find interesting is a guard/DE pairup, not for a shooty/melee combo, but for the guard shooting the crap out of the enemy turn one, and voidravens/ravenwings and DE reserve shennanagains contributing to even MOAR DAKKA on 2+

dakka for the dakka god also any hero things like the daemons orical that rerolls armor saves with space marine tryed it with terminators and they never died

IG just brings Vendettas and Hydras, DE just brings typical venom spam and Incubi? Now THAT is a sick gunline army with some punch. Terminators might have awesome armor but the average Venom will take out one Termi a turn. Bring on the Storm Shields

Actually.. necron/dark eldar seems like a very strong combination.. not only will night fighting rules keep the dark eldar transports alive until they get into assault range (it wont bother the dark eldar as much since they have night vision) but also consider the other bonus; dark eldar are fast but weak and the necrons are slow but tough(in regards to toughness) so a wychcult could wreck havoc on the enemy while the necrons provide fire support and capture (and probably hold) objectives

Yes, nightfighting is one of those game wide twists that you can build 2 forces together around. I'd worry most necron forces and dark eldar do too much of the same thing though.

I've also thought you could get an awful lot of vehicles that can shoot (over and under)/cover each other with BA or IG and necrons. They also add a lot of saturation. An army that can make use of incredible stationary firepower and selective nightfighting sounds brutal.

If you have any amount of shared bonuses you'll also potentially have access to some really mean FNP necrons.

What about Imperial guard and grey knights? The guard for numbers and tanks and grey knights to take out stronger targets

anyone got ideas for lists?

i think blood angels with priests everywhere will make things easier for those fragile units or 30 'ard boys with a sanguine priest with them

also can independent units go into other army's squads? i would imagine they would

Usually for these games the two players are independent. So in the games I have played and heard about Blood Angels wouldn't be sharing their FnP even though it says "friendly" models. Perhaps it is different for how you'll play but ICs definitely should not be able to join the other player's army. Your best bet is to talk to all the players and lay down the ground rules before you get too deep into ideas. If your armies do work together no matter the fluffy likelyhood, then Blood Angels is an easy choice. FNP for everyone.

The two armies being separate but fighting the same opponents best represents two allies working in unison but not going as far as mixing units, which is seems to be how it commonly goes. This also explains two "enemy" forces working together, which is much more likely to happen. Blood Angels and Necrons stopped fighting and fought together against a splinter fleet, but that doesn't mean they were chums.

most 2v2's ive played we treated the allied armies as independant since it would otherwise allow for things that are pretty unacceptable (black templar vows working for the other army for example).. Only boardwide effects such as nightfighting should be 'shared'

well the last mach i played they puts an ork warphead with an ig squad (the ones with the 50 people in 1 squad) so i would imagine that it would work for most the games i play any way

Epidemius plaguebearer daemon lists combined with typhus/DP of nurgle and plague marines are scary together

holy crap that would be scary everything would get the kill and epadermous would have powerweapons by at least turn 2
