What conversion bits do people use to represent the various Infinity weapons?

You know how it is -- you picked up a starter pack that has two or three regular infantry with rifles or combi-rifles, but what you really want is to give one of them a Sniper Rifle and another one a Heavy Machinegun. And, sadly, Infinity don't sell spare guns. :(

What have you guys tried out, and found to work?

I haven't bought *any* of the following, so won't be advocating them in particular, but perhaps someone else has? So, the following is *ENTIRELY* guesswork on my part; it's stuff that looks like it *MIGHT* work, but I can't tell from the web whether any particular weapon would genuinely fit the scale and aesthetic of Infinity.

Hasslefree have a range of SF Guns:

I am a little wary of them because at 1st glance they really don't look as detailed as many of the Infinity guns, but that could just be photographic issues. It does look like you could get spitfires, HMGs, sniper rifles, rifles, combi-rifles, multi-rifles, and maybe even chain rifles (with a bit of conversion work) from some of these, though.

Everyone on Dakka loves Zinge Industries:

Detailed and lovely... their stuff is designed for "Large Mutants" and "Heroic Scale" though. Would it look wrong next to Infinity minis? The range is also a bit limited at present, but is expanding all the time...

Working with Zinge, Anvil Industries also have a range of 5 rifle / MG variants:

http://www.anvilindustry.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=60&product_id=117

They look great on the web... anyone bought them?

Chapterhouse have rifles, machineguns, sniper rifles, etc.:

Again the main target market is 40K Imperial Guard players -- how well does any of this scale (and look) next to Infinity minis?

Maxmini have various detailed-looking, realistic-looking guns, but they're a lot more expensive than any of the others:

VERY good idea for a thread - thanks for starting this!

It is a bit odd that conversions in Infinity don't seem to be as big a part of the scene, until you think about how difficult it is to get 'proper' bits for conversions, and then the 'metal factor' hurts as well.

It really would be a good idea if CB would put out blister packs of weapon types.

It would help tremendously in terms of conversions!

I know the BlueDagger has mentioned that CB does occasionally send out pack of weapons to tournaments and such, maybe?

You will almost certainly find the "Heroic" weapons too large. The stuff from Zinge, MaxMini and Anvil are really designed to replace lasguns or bolters - which, if you have any for scale reference, you can see are much bigger than most Infinity weapons.
To put it another way, I consider "heroic 28mm" weapons as usable on scale-true* 54mm! So they will look too big on scale-true 32mm scale like Infinity.

You could however probably get away with Hasslefree, as Kev tends towards what's a truer 28mm, instead of the larger 32mm scale that many "28mm" models are. The Heresy miniatures weapon range (the longarms, anyway - the pistols tend towards being a bit big) should also pass muster, but their designs aren't quite as intricate as the Infinity range.

As a bit of a curve ball, Forge World. The odd thing about Forge World is that they do a lot of their work using different proportion to GW! Their self-contained ranges (as opposed to the stuff that's conversion kits, so we're talking stuff like the Elysians, Death Korps and Tallarns here) tend to be more scale-true than normal GW stuff, and you might find some stuff in there that can serve as at least the basics of a conversion. Although it might be too expensive and too recognisable for some people's tastes.

*Seeing as some people find "truescale" ambiguous, I'm using "scale-true" to mean models of approximately correct bulk and proportion for their scale. "Non heroic", in essence.

Thanks, Marco! I love Heresy's stuff generally, but had no idea they did SF weapons. I am going to give them a try.

None of those companies offer anything that really fits the aestethics of the Combined Army, but I think I'll make an order of 20 Exorcist rifles with scopes and box-mags for my Space Marines. Thanks for bringing them to my attention!
