Most of it looks pretty good but the air intake is just too big to be believable, anyone in the vehicle would just be driving totally blind.

Thanks! If you get the post apoc bug, there's alot of figs avaialble from various makers and a number of rulesets worth looking into. We use the free set "Wastelands Meltdown" but there are others. It's also a remarkably affordable side project as figs are usually 2-5 bucks each and the vehicles are mostly cheap toy cars!

Very True. The intake came out bigger than expected and well beyond realistic. However, I don't worry too much about realism when playing games influenced by Road Warrior and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

Looks Awesome! You really nailed every feature of the interceptor!
By scratchbuilt, do you mean that this is a mod of another car or a plascard +parts from the ground up?
If it's a mod, which toy or model did you use for the basis?

Thanks!
Very true about the official name, though in fairness that's what they call it in Mad Max. In Road Warrior (when it's been post apocified) the mechanic calls it "The last of the V8 Interceptors" .
For those interested, in addition to the link in the blog post, here's a couple of others sites about this car http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pursuit_Special

Mad max in a chevy? Looks sweet though but you could use a ford falcon (like the original) or 71-73 mustang kit... still love it though

You mean something like this...
Well it's not a tractor/trailer combo, but the general idea is there. These two as well as the rest of my post apoc vehicles are going to feature in a Post- Apoc chase game at the Little Wars Convention this Saturday!
A couple more pics and before/after pics/process here:

Yeah, it's not ideal. I would have liked a Falcon or a Mustang, but the Camaro was the only cheap muscle car at the train shop and I was running out of time before the convention. The conversion was fun, the parts cheap and the process easy enough that If I find a cheap Mustang with the right passenger window I might make another. I just refuse to pay more than 5-8 bucks for a model that's only going to be used a couple times a year.
Glad you liked it though!
I do have a Hot Wheels Ford Falcon that will be converted into an Interceptor if I ever finish revising my small car combat rules "Red Asphalt" http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/373240.page#2901563

Gotta love the truck and the overall scene. You had some serious fun, I may assume?
To your question, I built it from ground up. Plasticard, miliput, snot and enthusiastic swearing. 45-50 hours... Building the General these days, you know, that orange supermachine from the seventies and eighties.
On the matter, I have seen quite a few ford GT models in appropriate size, i.E. 1:50 kind of. E-Bay? Flea market?
I like how you are using them and having some fun gaming. Mine usually end up in boxes. No gaming round here.
But it´s killing time, isn´t it.
